NCAA Sweet 16 Betting Guide | Friday Night Games
And then there was one #1. The tribe (Arkansas and Houston) has spoken and #1 seeds Gonzaga and Arizona were both eliminated last night, leaving chalk brackets absolutely decimated with Kansas being the last remaining #1 left.
The Jayhawks will try to avoid the same fate in what could be a dangerous matchup against #4 Providence as part of tonight's Sweet 16 action. Most people are also expecting the impressive run from #15 Saint Peter's to come to an end against #3 Purdue, while #8 North Carolina vs. #4 UCLA is a battle of historic programs and #11 Iowa State vs. #10 Miami is just a battle in general.
Let's get ready for what should be a wild night:
🏀Top Sweet 16 Player Props 3/25 🏀
LineStar has a new Player Prop tab that lets you search for the best individual props through apps such as DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars, and PointsBet. Here are some of the best bets for tonight:
🏀Trevion Williams, Purdue (Over 6.5 rebounds) - This number seems insanely low for Williams who has double-digit rebounds in 2 of his last 3. Saint Peter's plays the type of defense that results in bad shots, which means a ton of rebound opportunities for the 6'10, 265 pounder. Oscar Tschiebwe of Kentucky is a different breed, but he grabbed 16 boards vs. the Peacocks in round one.
🏀Remy Martin, Kansas (Over 11.5 points) -He's been Bill Self's spark plug off the bench lately, going for 12+ points in three straight games. That includes 12 points vs. the #1 defense in college basketball Texas Tech in the Big 12 Championship Game, and hitting 13 of 22 shots so far in the NCAAs. Martin took 14 shots last time out vs. Creighton, a team high.
🏀Brady Manek (Over 2.5 three pointers made) - Have to like +110 odds for a guy who took 18 three pointers last weekend, including 8 against Baylor even though he was ejected with 10:08 remaining in the game.
🏀Gabe Kalscheur (Over 9.5 points) - He put the Cyclones on his back taking 19 shots en route to 22 points in a close battle vs. Wisconsin last weekend, and a similar tight game should be expected against Miami.
NCAA 2nd Round Betting Picks
#15 Saint Peter's vs #3 Purdue (-12.5), O/U 133.5 7:09 ET
Most people assumed Purdue would be looking at a matchup with #2 Kentucky here, but Saint Peter's pulled off the shock of the tournament in the 1st round and continued that with a 10-point win over Murray State last Saturday. The Boilermakers dominated Yale by 22 in round 1, and then beat a good Texas team 81-71 on Sunday.
Saint Peter's does have a solid defense ranking 29th in adjusted defensive efficiency, Purdue it seems like has every other tangible advantage - the experience (Sweet 16 in 4 of the last 5), the size (7'4" Zach Edey, 6'10" Trevion Williams), and being battle tested in the Big Ten while Saint Peter's was playing in the MAAC. There's just something about that Peacocks defense though, anchored by 3X MAAC player of the year KC Ndefo, and although maybe the run ends 12.5 points is a lot for a team with nothing to lose. Pick: Saint Peter's +12.5
This is KC Ndefo ⬇️
He is the 3X MAAC Defensive Player of the Year
Testing him isn't recommended

#4 Providence vs. #1 Kansas (-7.5) O/U 141.5 7:09 ET
KU is on alert as the last #1 seed left in the tournament but also has a chip on their shoulder with Houston (+350) and Duke (+375) being higher odds to win the National Championship than Kansas (+400). KU just beat Big East Tournament runner-up Creighton 79-72, and now they get the regular season conference champs in Providence.
The Friars know a thing or two about having a chip on their shoulder, with many people having them on upset alert in the first round against the #1 shooting team in the country South Dakota State and also against a Richmond team that had just beaten Iowa. Sure some #1 seeds went down last night, but Houston is #2 in the KenPom rankings and Arkansas has the #11 defensive efficiency in the nation. The Friars are good, but they're not in that stratosphere (31st in offensive efficiency, 57th in defense). Providence is still just two games removed from their 85-58 loss to Creighton in the Big East Tournament - a team that Kansas just beat. Pick: Kansas -7.5
2013 was the last time there was only one No. 1 seed in the Elite 8 (Louisville). There has never been an Elite 8 without a No. 1 seed. Kansas, you're up!

#8 North Carolina vs. #4 UCLA, OU 141.5 9:39 ET
UCLA has the experience edge here, making it to the Final Four last season. North Carolina doesn't care, they just beat the defending champions Baylor. This battle of the blue bloods should be a good one, and for conspiracy theorists UNC winning two games and Duke winning Saturday to have the rivals meet in the Final 4 in Coach K's last season might be the most watched game ever.
The offense is the strength for both teams, and we could see a final score in the 80s. The Tar Heels will have Brady Manek back after his controversial ejection vs. Baylor, and he's on fire averaging 27 ppg the first weekend. Armando Bacot had 15 points and 16 boards vs. Baylor, The Bruins continue to be led by the duo of Jaime Jaquez, Jr. (15 ppg this tournament) and Jules Bernard (12 ppg) but Jaquez also sprained his ankle on Saturday vs. St. Mary's and did not return. He's probable, but how effective will he be? Pick: North Carolina +2.5

#11 Iowa State vs # 10 Miami (-2.5), O/U 133 9:59 ET
These two teams expected to be here with their talent, but maybe not their seeding. ISU has had to rattle through LSU and Wisconsin, while the 'Canes took down USC and then #2 Auburn. The Iowa State defense has looked good in allowing a ceiling of 54 points last weekend, and that shouldn't be a surprise as they have the 5th best defensive efficiency in the country. ISU's offense also looks better with 59 and 54 points after being held to 41 or less in 2 of 3 games prior.
The thing about Miami is that they're probably even better than their 25-10 record would indicate. The margins in their 7 losses since December 1st are 1,1,4, 13, 3,1, and 4. The Hurricanes have the experience with Jim Larranaga coaching in his 5th NCAAs with the program while TJ Otzelberger is in his 1st year with the Cyclones. Then again, this game being played in the Midwest in Chicago is going to make this crowd decidedly pro-Iowa State. In a coin flip game, it's often best to take the points. Pick: Iowa State +2.5
in case you wondered around 10k Iowa State grads live in Chicago. And The United Center is 6hrs from the ISU campus in Ames. Their game at 9pm on a Friday. Kansas plays the early game so I’d say around 13k Cyclone fans will have the place to themselves. 🍻
