DFS Main Slate Rundown 📰
For any NBA newcomers, Tuesdays and Thursdays are generally going to be the quieter days with fewer games on the schedule… BUT they’re typically going to feature higher quality match-ups since there is always a nationally televised doubleheader in the mix. Today we have a four-game main slate to dig into, including last postseason’s Western Conference Finals rematch between the Mavericks and T-Wolves. Should be a fun one so let’s dive into it! Best of luck!

Point Guards/Shooting Guards to Consider 🏀
SG Anthony Edwards, MIN | DK: $8.9k, FD: $9k | vs. DAL
You have to think a dash of revenge is on the minds of T-Wolves’ players after getting bounced out of the 2023-24 WCF by the Mavs in a 4-1 “gentlemen’s sweep.” Edwards did about all he could that series and ended up eclipsing the 50 DKFP threshold in 4-of-5 games. He has played no fewer than 39 minutes in all three games this season while rocking a 31.7% USG% and hoisting up a whopping 13.3 3PA/gm. Edwards and the T-Wolves also head into this match-up with three days rest while the Mavs are on the second leg of a back-to-back. It’s very early in the season so almost every player is still going to feel pretty fresh even on a B2B, but the advantage still goes to the T-Wolves. I like Edwards’ chances of dropping 50+ FP at home on a nationally televised stage tonight.
PG/SG Dennis Schroder, BKN | DK: $6k, FD: $6.3k | vs. DEN
Schroder has been a quality guard option out of the mid-range in the early goings of this season. He is averaging 20.7 PPG and 6.3 APG on a 24.0% USG% while shooting a blistering 55.6% from three-point land. He’ll inevitably see some regression in the 3-PT shooting and the Nuggets have been one of the better teams in limiting the percentage of opponent points from threes (26.8%, second-lowest). That said, you’re still getting a quality floor with Schroder and the Nets are only five-point ‘dogs at home against a Nuggets team that has looked a little vulnerable thus far through their three games.
PG/SG Brandin Podziemski, GSW | DK: $4.9k, FD: $5.7k | vs. NOP
The clear and obvious value is going to land on the healthy Warriors players tonight since Steph Curry (ankle) and backup PG De’Anthony Melton (back) have both been ruled out while Andrew Wiggins (back) is on the wrong side of his “questionable” designation and is unlikely to play per HC Steve Kerr. So there is plenty of backcourt usage and minutes to divvy out elsewhere and Brandin Podziemski should be a primary beneficiary as he, in all likelihood, enters the starting rotation. Podziemski averaged a rock-solid 1.13 FPPM in eight games without Steph Curry last season and he should be in line for normal starter’s minutes (32-35) so there is a wide-open pathway for him to return 6x (or better) value tonight. He’ll be very popular but a tough player to fade on a small slate.
Other Guards to Consider
PG Luka Doncic, DAL at MIN
PG De’Aaron Fox, SAC at UTA
PG/SG Kyrie Irving, DAL at MIN
SG/SF Cam Thomas, BKN vs. DEN
SG/SF Buddy Hield, GSW vs. NOP (Boost if starting)
SG Jordan Hawkins, NOP at GSW
SG/SF Christian Braun, DEN at BKN
SG/SF Kevin Hurter, SAC at UTA
SG Moses Moody, GSW vs. NOP
Small Forwards/Power Forwards to Consider 🏀
SF/PF Lauri Markkanen, UTA | DK: $8k, FD: $8k | vs. SAC
We haven’t seen a truly massive game out of Markkanen yet but that is likely to keep his ownership low on this four-gamer. Both teams in this game rank top 10 in pace, so it’s no surprise to see a huge 234.5 over/under pinned on this match-up -- easily the highest on the slate. Markkanen currently owns a solid 26.1% USG% while shooting 47.1% from three and averaging 8.7 RPG. His two-point shooting (30% 2PT%) is well below his career average so, once that begins to normalize, we should regularly see those 50+ FP performances out of him.
SF/PF Jonathan Kuminga, GSW | DK: $5.9k, FD: $6.7k | vs. NOP
In response to the Warriors’ injury absences, most of the attention/ownership will go toward the backcourt options (Podziemski, Hield, Moody) but someone like Jonathan Kuminga should have to take a step up as well. Kuminga was a quality option as a starter last season and it was believed that he may take on an even larger role this season. Through three games, that has not been the case as he has only averaged 19.7 Min/gm even though he has started in each contest. However, if he can play into 30+ minutes tonight, he brings an excellent ceiling to lineups and he’s likely to go somewhat low-owned on this slate as well.
PF Keegan Murray, SAC | DK: $5.8k, FD: $6.5k | at UTA
It would probably be foolish to not spotlight at least one Sacramento King considering they bring a slate-leading 120.8 implied team total to the floor tonight. Keegan Murray is a notoriously volatile DFS play but we’ve already seen him rip off a ceiling-type of performance with a 43.75 DKFP/39.2 FDFP night to begin the season. Many may also remember his 47-point (that’s actual points) explosion against this same Jazz team in a game last year. On top of pure scoring, Murray can also crash the boards and is averaging 7.7 RPG so far this season. If he’s putting up the shots tonight, then Murray can easily go for 40+ FP in what looks to be a potential hardwood shootout.
Other Forwards to Consider
PF/C Zion Williamson, NOP at GSW
SF/PF DeMar DeRozan, SAC at UTA
PF/C Julius Randle, MIN vs. DAL
SF/PF Cameron Johnson, BKN vs. DEN
PF/C Naz Reid, MIN vs. DAL
SF/PF Brice Sensabaugh, UTA vs. SAC
SF Gary Payton II, GSW vs. NOP
SF/PF Naji Marshall, DAL at MIN
Centers to Consider 🏀
C Domantas Sabonis, SAC | DK: $9.3k, FD: $9.7k | at UTA
I would love to go to Jokic here, but I’d be lying if I said the 44 minutes he played in last night’s overtime win versus the Raptors didn’t worry me. As always, Nikola Jokic (DK: $11.3k, FD: $11.6k) is in play regardless of a back-to-back or any other game factor, but it also doesn’t seem like a bad idea to save $2,000 by dropping down to Sabonis, who is a triple-double threat in his own right. Sabonis and the Kings are also on a B2B but the star Kings center didn’t log super-heavy minutes, with just 36 minutes played in a fairly comfortable win over the Trailblazers last night. He’ll have an excellent match-up in front of him as the Jazz rank 28th in DEFRTG and allow the 5th most points in the paint per game.
C John Collins, UTA | DK: $5.4k, FD: $5.4k | vs. SAC
PF Taylor Hendricks is expected to miss the remainder of the season after suffering a fractured fibula and dislocated ankle in last night’s game against the Mavs. Ya can’t help but feel bad when a young player like Hendricks goes down to multiple injuries, especially this early in the season. With Hendricks out, John Collins will have a chance to reclaim a starting role. He certainly hasn’t been playing like a bench player, considering he’s averaging an excellent 1.38 FPPM in his three games off of the bench this season, but he has only been on the floor for 20.3 Min/gm. Collins should now regularly see 28-32 minutes as a starter and, given how quickly he stuffs the stat sheet, he is a great bet to return value on his $5,400 salary on both sites.
Other Centers to Consider
C Nikola Jokic, DEN at BKN
C Nic Claxton, BKN vs. DEN
C Walker Kessler, UTA vs. SAC
C Derrick Lively II, DAL at MIN
C Yves Missi, NOP at GSW
C Kevon Looney, GSW vs. NOP
