DFS Main Slate Rundown 📰

A loaded Halloween Eve NBA slate is upon us! For DraftKings users, it’ll be an eight-game main slate with the latest tip-off at 8:00 ET. Top DraftKings & FanDuel DFS Plays

Note: NBA position designations are never going to perfectly align between the major DFS sites. For the purposes of these newsletters, positional designations will default to DraftKings.

Point Guards/Shooting Guards to Consider 🏀

PG LaMelo Ball, CHA | DK: $9.6k, FD: $9.5k | vs. TOR

Ball leads all guards on this slate with a 34.9% USG% while letting it fly from three-point range (12.0 3PA/gm) and, as usual, the peripherals have all been strong -- 7.3 APG, 7.0 RPG, 1.7 STL+BLK/gm. The Hornets will continue to play without Brandon Miller, so Ball’s extreme usage shouldn’t be going anywhere. The Hornets, currently 21st in pace, also get a nice pace-up boost from the Raptors, who are currently 8th in pace. He’s sneaky by no means but you can’t go wrong with LaMelo given his high floor and 65+ FP ceiling.

PG/SG Jordan Poole, WAS | DK: $7.5k, FD: $7.6k | vs. ATL

Jordan Poole chalk days are always nerve-wracking but with Kyle Kuzma (groin/out) set to miss his first game of the season, he should easily be the number one scoring option for the Wizards in an uptempo, high-total game. In 830.3 minutes played with Kuzma off the floor last season, Poole’s usage jumped by a team-leading +4.52 percentage points and he averaged +6.73 FP per 32 minutes. The Wizards and Hawks just met two days ago in Atlanta and the two teams combined for 240 points in a narrow two-point Washington win. Considering both teams are top five in pace and the spread remains fairly close (WAS +5), this should be among the best DFS atmospheres on the evening. Poole has also been boosting his value with steals, averaging 3.0 STL/gm through three games. The Hawks are allowing 8.8 STL/gm -- T-9th most in NBA. I wouldn’t fault anyone for fading Poole tonight but just be aware that he is in a position to turn in a ceiling performance.

PG/SG Dennis Schroder, BKN | DK: $5.9k, FD: $6.3k | at MEM

Schroder has been outstanding this season given the fact that he’s been priced right around $6k in all four games. He’s averaging 22.5 PPG and 8.3 APG while shooting a red-hot 51.7% from three. It has equated to a quality 1.12 FPPM across 35.8 Min/gm. The back-to-back factor (Schroder played 42 minutes last night) is a concern, but not a significant one this early in the season. Even though the Nets are sizable 12-point underdogs tonight, we’ll have no issues with the match-up considering the Grizzlies have played at the 2nd fastest pace (Nets: 20th in pace) and check in at 23rd in DEFRTG.

Other Guards to Consider

PG Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, OKC vs. SAS (FD Only)

PG Trae Young, ATL at WAS

PG James Harden, LAC vs. POR (FD Only)

PG Tyrese Maxey, PHI vs. DET

SG/SF Cam Thomas, BKN at MEM

SG/SF Zach LaVine, CHI vs. ORL

PG Scotty Pippen Jr., MEM vs. BKN (Preferred if J. Morant is out)

PG/SG Brandin Podziemski, GSW vs. NO (FD Only)

PG Jalen Suggs, ORL at CHI

SG/SF Gradey Dick, TOR at CHA

PG Ben Simmons, BKN at MEM (May operate as the Nets’ primary center tonight)

PG/SG Tre Mann, CHA vs. TOR

PG/SG Davion Mitchell, TOR at CHA

PG/SG Carlton Carrington, WAS vs. ATL

SG Ziaire Williams, BKN at MEM

Small Forwards/Power Forwards to Consider 🏀

PF Jalen Johnson, ATL | DK: $7.9k, FD: $8.2k | at WAS

Perhaps there’s some recency bias in play here after Jalen Johnson popped off for 59.0 DKFP/56.9 FDFP with a 29/12/7 line against the Wizards two nights ago… but in the exact same match-up with the Hawks being down a couple of players, whose to say he couldn’t replicate that success? Johnson is a touch volatile but he boasts an outstanding ceiling in relation to these $8k-ish price points and he averages +20% more FPPG in uptempo match-ups… like the one tonight. Can’t help but like him in this spot.

SF RJ Barrett, TOR | DK: $6.6k, FD: $7.4k | at CHA

Just as the Raptors got RJ Barrett (who missed the first three games) back in the mix, they lost Scottie Barnes for multiple weeks due to an orbital fracture. It doesn’t look like PG Immanuel Quickley (hip/doubtful) is ready to return and the Raptors are still without Kelly Olynyk and Bruce Brown, who have both yet to play this season. Barrett wasn’t overly limited in his first game of the season as he logged 29 minutes of action against Denver. He also posted a team-leading 32.8% USG% in his season debut, and that was while sharing the court with Scottie Barnes, who played 35 minutes in that game and put up a 30.0% USG%. So Barrett should be the top scoring option for the Raps this evening and it’d be a mild shock if he doesn’t hoist at least 20 shots.

SF/SG Bilal Coulibaly, WAS | DK: $5.2k, FD: $5.6k | vs. ATL

Coulibaly has been a nice value play in the early goings of this season, and he should eat up a slice of the usage that Kyle Kuzma (groin/out) will leave behind. We’re still dealing with very small sample sizes here, but Coulibaly has managed to average 16.0 PPG on a low 17.6% USG% this season, but in 35 minutes with Kuzma off the court, his usage rate has bumped up 3.6 percentage points. So he should see a 20+% USG% tonight while playing big minutes -- Coulibaly logged 37 minutes when these two teams met a couple of days ago.

Other Forwards to Consider

PF/C Victor Wembanyama, SAS at OKC (FD Only)

SF/PF Jayson Tatum, BOS at IND

PF Paolo Banchero, ORL at CHI

SF/SG Jaylen Brown, BOS at IND

SF/SG Desmond Bane, MEM vs. BKN (Preferred if J. Morant is out)

PF/C Evan Mobley, CLE vs. LAL

SF Franz Wagner, ORL at CHI

SF/PF Rui Hachimura, LAL at CLE

PF Santi Aldama, MEM vs. BKN

SF/PF Caleb Martin, PHI vs. DET

SF/SG Ochai Agbaji, TOR at CHA

PF/C Dorian Finney-Smith, BKN at MEM

Centers to Consider 🏀

C Andre Drummond, PHI | DK: $7k, FD: $7.1k | vs. DET

I still believe Drummond will pop off for a monster game sooner rather than later and tonight’s match-up is as good as any to do it. Drummond has picked up five personal fouls in all three games this season, but Detroit’s opponents have only averaged 17.0 total fouls per game (2nd lowest). Detroit is also allowing 6.5 opponent blocks/gm (6th most). Via LineStar’s team defense tool, we’ll also see that the Pistons are 29th versus starting centers this season. Drummond has averaged a respectable 1.14 FPPM this season, but we know that he is capable of much more than that, so as long as he stays out of foul trouble and works his way to low-to-mid 30s minutes tonight, he may very well go for 50+ FP.

C Nick Richards, CHA | DK: $4.8k, FD: $5.7k | vs. TOR

Richards will make the most sense on DraftKings this evening considering he is still priced under $5k. He had an underwhelming season debut but has since stitched together back-to-back double-doubles while combining for four blocks and playing 30+ minutes in both contests. Toronto (ranked 25th vs. starting centers) has been a promising match-up for opposing bigs -- Richards is averaging just over an FPPM so if he can avoid fouls and play 30+ minutes, there is a clear pathway for 6x (or better) value on DraftKings.

Other Centers to Consider

C Anthony Davis, LAL at CLE

C Chet Holmgren, OKC vs. SA (FD Only)

C Bam Adebayo, MIA vs. NYK

C Ivica Zubac, LAC vs. POR (FD Only)

C Jakob Poeltl, TOR at CHA

C Jay Huff, MEM vs. BKN (Preferred if Z. Edey is out)

C Isaiah Jackson, IND vs. BOS (Preferred if M. Turner is out)

PF/C Noah Clowney, BKN at MEM
