DFS Main Slate Rundown 📰
Happy Veterans Day and a special thank you to all of our vets out there! We’ll be set up with a modest five-game Monday slate this evening and, interesting enough, all five games have an 8:00 ET tip-off. Outside of the extremely banged-up Pelicans, there aren’t a ton of injury impacts on this slate but two guys who will be out for the first time this season -- Fred VanVleet & Chet Holmgren -- will certainly have an impact on today’s slate approach. This isn’t too crazy of a slate today but with group play for the in-season tournament beginning tomorrow, we should have a fun week of NBA action ahead of us! Best of luck!

Point Guards/Shooting Guards to Consider 🏀
PG Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, OKC | DK: $10k, FD: $10.2k | vs. LAC
It’s been a couple of weeks since we’ve seen a monster game out of SGA so paying five figures for him may not feel like the most comfortable decision. But with limited superstars to choose from on this small slate, SGA should stay firmly on the radar. His shots are down a bit this season but his 32.1% USG% is still the 6th highest in the NBA. And, of course, we have to account for the Chet Holmgren injury. Holmgren suffered a fractured hip in last night’s game and is expected to miss the next 8-10 weeks. That’s going to shake things up for the Thunder and, in 103 minutes played with Holmgren off the court this season, SGA has handled a team-leading +5.1% percentage points boost to his usage rate. Per the LineStar Team DEF tool, the Clippers also rank 21st versus starting PGs this season and this should be a fun battle between SGA and James Harden. There is a reasonable shot that Gilgeous-Alexander can pop for 60+ FP this evening.
PG Jose Alvarado, NOP | DK: $6.2k, FD: $6.7k | vs. BKN
The hits keep on comin’ for the injury-plagued Pelicans and they’ll now be without Zion Williamson “indefinitely” due to a hamstring strain. That’s on top of Dejounte Murray, CJ McCollum, Jordan Hawkins, and Herbert Jones currently sidelined. They will have SG/SF Trey Murphy III available to make his season debut, which is a plus, but he may be working under a minutes restriction. Jose Alvarado will earn his seventh consecutive start tonight. Alvarado has played at least 32 minutes in five of his six starts and he’s averaging over an FPPM in those games while coming off of back-to-back 40+ FP performances. Nothing is sexy about this match-up with the Nets, which has a slate-low 210.5 over/under attached to it, but the Pelicans are only one-point underdogs at home here so, even with all of the injuries, they’re expected to stay competitive tonight. He’ll be popular but Alvarado is just a sensible guard play out of the mid-range.
SG/SF Amen Thompson, HOU | DK: $4.9k, FD: $5.6k | vs. WAS
Fred VanVleet (hamstring soreness) will miss his first game of the season. My assumption would be for Amen Thompson to enter the starting lineup and play a hybrid PG/SG role. He’s been sharp off of the bench lately, averaging 28.8 DKFP/29.2 FDFP per game over his last five games -- and that’s been in 27.7 Min/gm. As a starter, he should be locked into around 32 minutes so he’s a clear value in this great match-up versus the Wizards (WAS: 4th in pace, 28th in DEFRTG).
Other Guards to Consider
PG James Harden, LAC at OKC
PG/SG Donovan Mitchell, CLE at CHI
SG Jalen Green, HOU vs. WAS
PG Darius Garland, CLE at CHI
SG/SF Brandon Boston, NOP vs. BKN
PG/SG Caris LeVert, CLE at CHI
SG/SF Kevin Huerter, SAC at SAS
SG Isaiah Joe, OKC vs. LAC
PG/SG Reed Sheppard, HOU vs. WAS
Small Forwards/Power Forwards to Consider 🏀
PF/C Evan Mobley, CLE | DK: $7.6k, FD: $8.2k | at CHI
No true studs at forward today (unless we’re counting Wemby & Sabonis, who are both PF-eligible centers on FanDuel), but Evan Mobley could put up a stud-like performance like the one he had two games ago, which produced 54.5 DKFP/54.7 FDFP versus the Nets. The 11-0 Cavs are looking like a well-oiled machine right now as they’re leading the NBA with 122.7 PPG. All of the key guys should thrive in this match-up against the Bulls, who continue to play at the fastest pace in the NBA while allowing the 4th most PPG (120.3). The Bulls also rank 20th in rebounding% and are allowing the most points in the paint per game (58.8). Plenty of double-double potential for Mobley tonight, who is up to an impressive 1.26 FPPM over his last five starts.
SF/PF Tari Eason, HOU | DK: $4.8k, FD: $5.6k | vs. WAS
Eason has always been a strong FPPM scorer, and that hasn’t changed this season given his 1.16 FPPM average. Eason plays off of the Rockets’ bench but he often closes games with the starters and is up to 26.9 Min/gm L5Games while averaging 15.2 PPG, 6.6 RPG, and 3.2 STL+BLK/gm in that stretch. The Rockets are slate-leading 13-point favorites over the waffling Wizards and I don’t view Eason as a main beneficiary from the VanVleet injury absence. But he has shown a monster ceiling this season and should be on the DFS radar until further notice.
SF/SG Luguentz Dort, OKC | DK: $4.1k, FD: $4.9k | vs. LAC
Dort isn’t always the most consistent DFS asset but he has put up at least 26.0 DKFP/25.3 FDFP in five of his last seven games. He has been sharp from the perimeter, shooting 46.3% from three-point range this season, and he can always rack up multiple steals/blocks (2.1 STL+BLK/gm). Furthermore, in just under 70 minutes played with Chet Holmgren off the floor this season, Dort has averaged a team-high +9.3 fantasy points per 32 minutes. Plenty of 6x (or better) upside out of Dort this evening.
Other Forwards to Consider
SF/PG Brandon Ingram, NOP vs. BKN
SF/PF Jalen Williams, OKC vs. LAC (Likely to operate as starting center tonight)
SF/PF DeMar DeRozan, SAC at SAS
PF Keegan Murray, SAC at SAS
SF/PF Keldon Johnson, SAS vs. SAC
PF/C Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, NOP vs. BKN
SF/PF Aaron Wiggins, OKC vs. LAC
Centers to Consider 🏀
C Alperen Sengun, HOU | DK: $7.9k, FD: $7.9k | vs. WAS
Perhaps the biggest beneficiary of the VanVleet absence is the young stud center Alperen Sengun, who has also dipped below $8k on both sites. We’re still working with small sample sizes on some of these splits, but in 45 minutes with FVV off the floor, Sengun has handled a team-leading +8.9% USG% boost and +10.8 fantasy points per 32-minute average. The Rockets’ backup centers are also banged up with Jock Landale (shoulder) out and Steven Adams (knee) listed as questionable. The Wizards have ranked 28th versus starting centers this season so Sengun should be poised for a big night.
C Ousmane Dieng, OKC | DK: $3.1k, FD: $3.8k | vs. LAC
The assumption is that forward Jalen Williams will operate as the primary center while Chet Holmgren (hip) is out -- at least until their other centers, Isaiah Hartenstein and Jaylin Williams (both have yet to play this season), get healthy. But the Thunder will need some other bigs to step up besides Jalen Williams. Ousmane Dieng has only averaged 12.2 Min/gm this season but perhaps that bumps closer to 20 Min/gm for the foreseeable future. He has averaged exactly 1.00 FPPM so it’s quite easy to see how he can return value if he does garner most of the backup center work. PF/C Kenrich Williams (DK: $3k, FD: $3.6k) is also a candidate to step into a much-needed backup role, but tonight would be his season debut after dealing with a knee injury so he’ll likely be ramped up slowly.
Other Centers to Consider
C Victor Wembanyama, SAS vs. SAC
C Domantas Sabonis, SAC at SAS
C Ivica Zubac, LAC at OKC
C Jarrett Allen, CLE vs. CHI
C Nic Claxton, BKN at NOP (Preferred if he continues to start)
