DFS Main Slate Rundown 📰

Depending on your DFS site of choice, you’ll be looking to tackle either an eight-game (DraftKings) or 11-game (FanDuel) Wednesday main slate. FanDuel, as usual, includes the games in the late 10 o’clock window onto their main slate. As a reminder, the in-season tournament, which began group play yesterday, will be on hiatus until Friday. So the games tonight are just your run-of-the-mill standard regular season games. Also, not-so-fun-fact, my computer crashed while I was halfway through writing today’s article, and the autosave function didn’t kick in, so I’m restarting this thing from scratch! Woo! So, do forgive me if this article is a bit shorter than usual as I try to get it pushed out in a timely manner! Okay, down to business… best of luck!

Main Slate Match-Ups w/ Game Totals & Point Spreads

Top DraftKings & FanDuel DFS Plays

Note: NBA position designations are never going to perfectly align between the major DFS sites. For the purposes of these newsletters, positional designations will default to DraftKings.

Point Guards/Shooting Guards to Consider 🏀

PG Cade Cunningham, DET | DK: $9k, FD: $9.1k | at MIL

It’ll need to be the Cade Cunningham show if the Pistons (+7) look to pull off a road upset against the Bucks. Jaden Ivey, Tim Hardaway Jr., and Simone Fontecchio are all sidelined this evening. There is very limited data on Cunningham with those three players off the floor this season (just an 11-minute sample size) but we should expect him to take on a massive role, more so than usual. Over his last five starts, Cunningham has put up three triple-doubles while averaging 21.2 PPG, 10.4 APG, and 9.4 RPG. We’ll look for him to have an uptick in scoring while maintaining similar peripherals. The Pistons are on the second leg of a back-to-back (Cunningham: 38 minutes last night) but so are the Bucks so neither team has an advantage in that regard.

SG/SF Brandon Boston Jr. NOP | DK: $6k, FD: $6.6k | at OKC

It’s essentially Brandon Ingram and the skeleton crew in New Orleans as they’re now down six players who are either starters or key personnel off the bench. Ingram isn’t a player I tend to pay up for, but I wouldn’t mind getting some of the other healthy Pelicans into the mix. Boston has stepped in as a starter for the last four games, and he has done well, scoring 16.8 PPG with 5.5 APG, 4.5 RPG, and 2.3 STL+BLK/gm while averaging 35.6 DKFP/36.4 FDFP. This game, which has New Orleans as a huge 14-point underdog, is likely a blowout, but we’ve seen Brandon Boston Jr. handle big minutes even in blowouts so I’m not viewing that as a major negative for his DFS outlook.

PG Ryan Rollins, MIL | DK: $3k, FD: $3.7k | vs. DET

As long as he suits up tonight, Rollins (shoulder/questionable) is the can’t-miss value play on this slate. He took on a starting role yesterday with Damian Lillard (concussion) sidelined and put up 33.75 DKFP/35.5 FDFP in just 22 minutes. Rollins left last night’s game late in the third quarter and never returned, but he is quoted as saying he expects to play tonight. If he’s starting again, it’ll be tough not to put him in your lineup(s), especially on DraftKings at the bare minimum of $3,000. He’s likely going to easily be 60+% owned, but it may just be one of those situations where you eat the cheap chalk and differentiate elsewhere.

Other Guards to Consider

PG Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, OKC vs. NOP

PG Tyrese Haliburton, IND at ORL

PG Darius Garland, CLE at PHI

SG/SF Norman Powell, LAC at HOU

SG/SF Bennedict Mathurin, IND at ORL

SG/SF Amen Thompson, HOU vs. LAC (Only if VanVleet is out + Thompson starts)

PG/SG Stephon Castle, SAS vs. WAS

PG/SG Jared McCain, PHI vs. CLE

SG Malik Beasley, DET at MIL (Preferred if starting)

PG/SG Jaylen Nowell, NOP at OKC

FanDuel Main Slate Only

PG De’Aaron Fox, SAC vs. PHX

SG/SF Devin Booker, PHX at SAC

PG Scotty Pippen, MEM at LAL

PG Scoot Henderson, POR vs. MIN (Preferred if Simons is out)

Small Forwards/Power Forwards to Consider 🏀

SF/PF Josh Hart, NYK | DK: $6.6k, FD: $7.2k | vs. CHI

Outside of anticipating a significant bounce-back performance out of Giannis, I’m not too attached to any of the high-priced forwards today so I won’t be forcing a spotlight onto any of ‘em. Instead, we’ll drop down to the mid-range and give the do-it-all man, Josh Hart, some attention. Despite owning just a 14.8% USG% this season, Hart continues to post excellent DFS scores relative to his price points, and he even put together a triple-double last night. With guys like Jalen Brunson, Miles McBride, and Cam Payne (all questionable) a bit banged up, there could be more offensive usage to go around for someone like Hart, and he should continue to pour in strong peripheral stats. Gotta love this match-up for the Knicks (dead last in pace) as they take on the Bulls, who have been the fastest-paced team in the NBA.

PF Tobias Harris, DET | DK: $6.4k, FD: $6.5k | at MIL

Harris has been about as consistent as it gets for a $6k player and he’s going to need to shoulder some additional work due to the current injuries that the Pistons are dealing with (Ivey/Hardaway/Fontecchio). It’s not a sexy play, and the match-up isn’t great, but I believe Harris can push for 40+ FP in this spot, barring a blowout.

PF/C Guerschon Yabusele, PHI | DK: $4.3k, FD: $5.1k | vs. CLE

Joel Embiid made his season debut last night, and Paul George made his Sixers debut nine days ago. Due to the back-to-back, neither guy is in the lineup tonight, and they’ll still be without star PG Tyrese Maxey. Yabusele has been a nice spark off of the bench while Philly has been without parts of their “big three” but this is the first game where all three will be sidelined. Yabusele has averaged a solid 0.98 FPPM this season, and I believe he has a shot to play 30+ minutes tonight, either as a starter or off the bench, once again.

Other Forwards to Consider

PF/C Giannis Antetokounmpo, MIL vs. DET

SF/PF Franz Wagner, ORL vs. IND

PF/C Evan Mobley, CLE at PHI (Boost if J. Allen is out)

SF/PF OG Anunoby, NYK vs. CHI (Boost if Brunson is out)

SF/PF Aaron Wiggins, OKC vs. NOP (Preferred if starting again)

SF/PF Georges Niang, CLE at PHI

SF Ronald Holland II, DET at MIL (Boost if starting)

FanDuel Main Slate Only

SF/PF LeBron James, LAL vs. MEM

SF/PF DeMar DeRozan, SAC vs. PHX

PF/C Santi Aldama, MEM at LAL

SF/SG Shaedon Sharpe, POR vs. MIN

Centers to Consider 🏀

C Victor Wembanyama, SAS | DK: $10.9k, FD: $11.4k | vs. WAS

Wemby is still a young player, and that means the results are going to be pretty inconsistent, but it’s tough to look past him in this spot. The Wizards (4th in pace, 28th in DEFRTG) rank dead last versus starting centers this season. Wemby is also coming off of arguably his best performance of the season in a 116-96 victory over the Kings on Monday where he supplied 34 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 blocks, and a steal on a 34.4% USG% -- good for 71.5 DKFP/68.8 FDFP. Much like last season, Wembanyama is showing positive splits at home over the first few weeks of this season, and the Spurs find themselves as rare double-digit favorites. Anything below 60 FP would be a mild surprise tonight.

C Moritz Wagner, ORL | DK: $4.6k, FD: $5k | vs. IND

I’m not opposed to going back to Goga Bitadze (DK: $5.4k, FD: $6.2k) following his relatively dud-ish performance last night (he only played 20 minutes, to be fair). But Mo Wagner has also been excellent off of the bench lately -- he’s up to 1.24 FPPM L5Games and has turned in back-to-back performances of at least 29.5 DKFP/29.2 FDFP. With C Wendell Carter Jr. and PF Paolo Banchero still sidelined, there should still be mid-20s minutes left for Wagner off of the bench. They’ll certainly need his size against Myles Turner and Pascal Siakam manning the Pacers’ frontcourt.

Other Centers to Consider

C Karl-Anthony Towns, NYK vs. CHI (Boost if Brunson is out)

C Jalen Williams, OKC vs. NOP

C Alperen Sengun, HOU vs. LAC (Preferred if VanVleet is out)

C Myles Turner, IND at ORL

C Yves Missi, NOP at OKC

C Neemias Queta, BOS at BKN (Only if he starts)

FanDuel Main Slate Only

PF/C Domantas Sabonis, SAC vs. PHX

PF/C Jaren Jackson Jr., MEM at LAL

C Mason Plumlee, PHX at SAC (Only if Nurkic is out again)

C Zach Edey, MEM at LAL

C Donovan Clingan, POR vs, MIN (Preferred if Ayton is out + Clingan starts again)
