DFS Main Slate Rundown 📰

We get rolling on a new week of NBA action with a quality seven-game (DraftKings)/nine-game (FanDuel) main slate! As usual, the two late 10 o’clock ET match-ups will only appear on the FanDuel main slate. As you can see below, there are going to be a multitude of injury impacts that trickle down to many teams on this slate. It is definitely one of those days where you’ll need to be proactive in keeping up with the latest injury/availability news. Main Slate Match-Ups w/ Game Totals & Point Spreads

Top DraftKings & FanDuel DFS Plays

Note: NBA position designations are never going to perfectly align between the major DFS sites. For the purposes of these newsletters, positional designations will default to DraftKings.

Point Guards/Shooting Guards to Consider 🏀

PG LaMelo Ball, CHA | DK: $10k, FD: $9.8k | vs. ORL

The Hornets come into tonight’s game very shorthanded with Miles Bridges, Grant Williams, Tre Mann, and Nick Richards all ruled out. So, it’s safe to say that this should be the LaMelo Ball (feat. Brandon Miller) show tonight. Ball is already rocking an NBA-leading 37.5% USG% on the season and, in a bit under 70 minutes with those four players off the court this season, LaMelo has seen a major +14.9 percentage point increase in his usage rate. He’s coming off of a mammoth performance on Saturday against the Bucks where he dropped 50 points on 38 shot attempts to go alongside 10 assists, five boards, and a steal (75.75 DKFP/70.0 FDFP) across 40 minutes. This is not an ideal match-up against a slow-paced Magic team that is 3rd in DEFRTG, and the 213.5 point total is easily the lowest on the slate. But LaMelo is simply going to dominate the usage tonight and it wouldn’t be a shock if he puts up 30+ shot attempts once again.

PG/SG Jaden Ivey, DET | DK: $6.8k, FD: $6.8k | vs. TOR

Star PG Cade Cunningham (hip/doubtful) will likely miss a second consecutive game this evening which will put Jaden Ivey firmly on the DFS radar out of the mid-range. In over 200 minutes played with Cunningham off the floor this season, Ivey has handled a team-leading +6.7 percentage points increase in his usage rate and has averaged +7.9 more FP per 32 minutes. With Cunningham sidelined in Detroit’s previous game versus Orlando, Ivey posted an elite 34.9% USG% while averaging 1.36 FPPM. The Pistons pulled their starters with about four minutes left in the fourth quarter, so it could’ve been a better performance but Ivey still put up a quality 36.75 DKFP/37.40 FDFP. The match-up is better on paper tonight against the Raptors, who play at an above-average pace and check in at 24th in DEFRTG.

PG Spencer Dinwiddie, DAL | DK: $3.3k, FD: $3.8k | at ATL

This punt play may be dependent on some additional injury news, but the Mavericks are already looking thin in the backcourt with Luka Doncic (wrist) already ruled out and Quentin Grimes (illness) listed as doubtful. Kyrie Irving (illness) and Klay Thompson (foot) are both questionable, with Kyrie being a bit of a late addition to the injury report. Dinwiddie is coming off of his best DFS performance of the season last night against the Heat where he matched a season-high in minutes (28) and provided a 7/5/7 stat line with two steals and a block (29.75 DKFP/32.50 FDFP). Worth noting, Dinwiddie played the entirety of the fourth quarter in what ended up being a close game. So, whether he starts or continues to play off of the bench, Dinwiddie is a good bet to play quality minutes this evening and his floor/ceiling rises significantly if either (or both) Kyrie or Klay Thompson are ruled out.

Other Guards to Consider

PG Trae Young, ATL vs. DAL

PG Jalen Brunson, NYK at DEN (Boost if KAT is out)

PG/SF Scottie Barnes, TOR at DET

PG Tyrese Haliburton, IND vs. NOP

SG/SF Brandon Miller, CHA vs. ORL

PG/SG Anfernee Simons, POR at MEM

SG/SF Malik Beasley, DET vs. TOR

PG TJ McConnell, IND vs. NOP

PG Kevin Porter Jr., LAC at BOS

PG/SG Anthony Black, ORL at CHA (Preferred if J. Suggs is out)

PG/SF Cody Martin, CHA vs. ORL

FanDuel Main Slate Only

PG De’Aaron Fox, SAC vs. OKC

PG Steph Curry, GSW vs. BKN

SG Lindy Waters III, GSW vs. BKN

Small Forwards/Power Forwards to Consider 🏀

SF/PF Franz Wagner, ORL | DK: $9.6k, FD: $9.6k | at CHA

Until Wagner commands $10k+ DFS salaries or Paolo Banchero makes his return, I believe we have to keep him in the player pool. His production has just been too strong to ignore lately and, over his last five games, he’s up to a 32.2% USG%, 1.54 FPPM, and is averaging 56.2 DKFP/55.0 FDFP per game. The actual stats in that span have been 28.8 PPG, 7.4 RPG, 7.8 APG, and 2.6 STL+BLK/gm. And he may need to take on even more offensive responsibilities if Jalen Suggs (hamstring/questionable) is ruled out.

PF PJ Washington, DAL | DK: $6k, FD: $6.4k | at ATL

I’m a bit surprised to see Washington hasn’t been bumped up to over $7k yet. In the three games without Luka Doncic (wrist/out), Washington has put up 55.75 DKFP/52.4 FDFP (vs. NOP), 45.25 DKFP/44.1 FDFP (at DEN), and 43.0 DKFP/41.5 FDFP (at MIA). In nearly 150 minutes with Doncic off the floor this season, Washington has seen a team-leading +9.9 FP per 32-minutes increase. And, as mentioned with Dinwiddie above, the Mavs may also be without Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson (both questionable) this evening, which would further cement Washington as a top offensive option for Dallas in this game. This is also among the best match-ups PJ Washington could ask for as the Hawks are 2nd in pace, 22nd in DEFRTG, and rank 26th versus starting PFs.

SF/PF Tidjane Salaun, CHA | DK: $3.3k, FD: $3.7k | vs. ORL

Not a particularly exciting play here as Salaun has averaged an uninspiring 0.70 FPPM this season but he should have a strong chance to land in the starting lineup tonight due to all of the current injuries for Charlotte. Salaun has logged a couple of starts this season but did not play more than 21 minutes in either game. Tonight would be a different case and I would project him for around 28-32 minutes as a starter. He may only put up a handful of shots but Salaun has proven to be a quality rebounder and we don’t need much out of him at these <$4k price points.

Other Forwards to Consider

PF Jalen Johnson, ATL vs. DAL

SF/PF Josh Hart, NYK at DEN

PF Pascal Siakam, IND vs. NOP

SF/PF Trey Murphy III, NOP at IND

PF Tobias Harris, DET vs. TOR

SF Deni Avdija, POR at MEM

PF/C Brandon Clarke, MEM vs. POR

PF Derrick Jones Jr., LAC at BOS

SF/PF Josh Green, CHA vs. ORL

FanDuel Main Slate Only

SF/PF Jalen Williams, OKC at SAC

SF/PF Andrew Wiggins, GSW vs. BKN

Centers to Consider 🏀

C Nikola Jokic, DEN | DK: $12k, FD: $12.5k | vs. NYK

Fairly obvious superstar play here but this just feels like a slate where, if you can find a couple of value plays you’re comfortable with, you do what you can to jam Jokic into lineups. He has put up no fewer than 68.25 DKFP/64.6 FDFP in his previous six games and, in eight home games this season, he’s averaging an astronomical 1.95 FPPM. The Knicks may also be without Karl-Anthony Towns (calf/questionable) tonight. It’s not as if KAT is a great defender or anything, but he is a quality rebounder and Jokic would have his way against any backup center that the Knicks would be forced to deploy.

PF/C Robert Williams, POR | DK: $4.8k, FD: $5.6k | at MEM

Deandre Ayton (finger) remains doubtful and should miss a seventh consecutive game while the interim starter, Donovan Clingan (knee), has been ruled out. Those two factors should hoist Robert Williams into the starting lineup tonight. Williams has missed plenty of time with injuries over the last couple of seasons and didn’t make his 2024-25 season debut until a little over two weeks ago, so the amount of minutes the Trailblazers would be comfortable giving up is the primary concern. But Williams has averaged a stout 1.31 FPPM across his six games this season and he has played as many as 25 minutes on multiple occasions. If he starts and gets closer to 28-ish minutes, he should be a safe bet to return value tonight.

Other Centers to Consider

C Karl-Anthony Towns, NYK at DEN (Currently questionable)

C Jakob Poeltl, TOR at DET

C Ivica Zubac, LAC at BOS

C Clint Capela, ATL vs. DAL

C Moussa Diabate, CHA vs. ORL

C Duop Reath, POR at MEM

FanDuel Main Slate Only

C Isaiah Hartenstein, OKC at SAC

PF/C Trayce Jackson-Davis, GSW vs. BKN
