DFS Main Slate Rundown 📰
Friday will provide us with 10 games worth of NBA action but both DraftKings and FanDuel will nix the two late games, leaving us with an eight-game main slate! There are plenty of moving parts to this one with several high-impact players either out tonight, or officially doubtful to play. We’ll look to capitalize by hitting the correct value and mid-range plays while mixing in some studs.
Full disclosure, I got held up at the mechanic shop for WAY too long today, so I’m running behind schedule. As a result, the player spotlights will be trimmed down quite a bit. Just giving a heads-up for the shorter-than-usual newsletter. Anyhow, let’s get into it, and best of luck!

Top DraftKings & FanDuel DFS Plays
Note: NBA position designations are never going to perfectly align between the major DFS sites. For the purposes of these newsletters, positional designations will default to DraftKings.
Point Guards/Shooting Guards to Consider 🏀
PG Tyrese Maxey, PHI | DK: $9.3k, FD: $9.4k | vs. SAC
No surprise here but we’ll go back to Maxey in another strong spot for the Joel Embiid-less 76ers. He flirted with a triple-double on Wednesday, putting up a 35/8/9 stat line with four steals across 43 minutes (67.0 DKFP/67.1 FDFP). A repeat performance would be wishful thinking, but Maxey is still a good bet to drop 50+ FP this evening. This game owns the tightest line on the slate (PHI: -1.5), and the second-highest total (240.5 O/U), and Maxey has shot the ball better in general at home this season.
PG/SG Malik Monk, SAC | DK: $6.2k, FD: $6.8k | @ PHI
Monk has been on a nice run recently, averaging 1.22 FPPM and 38.2 DKFP/37.8 FDFP per game across his last five games. Kevin Huerter (ankle/out) will be missing just his second game of the season tonight, which could open up additional minutes/usage for Monk off of the bench. Monk always has a bit of volatility to his game since he does play off of the bench, but his usage is generally high with the second unit and he could easily log 30+ minutes in tonight’s contest.
SG Luke Kennard, MEM | DK: $4.8k, FD: $4.5k | vs. LAC
Before the season started, things were already looking grim for the Grizzlies and they’ve only gotten worse. Injuries galore for Memphis leave some huge needs for scoring and Kennard should be relied upon for his sharp-shooting prowess for the foreseeable future. Kennard is shooting 41.3% from three this season and, though he has yet to play big minutes, he has started each of the last two games and has averaged 1.06 FPPM. It’s an ugly match-up but Kennard’s sub-$5k salaries keep him firmly in play as a value option this evening.
Other Guards to Consider
PG Trae Young, ATL
PG/SG Anthony Edwards, MIN
PG Fred VanVleet, HOU
SG/SF Zach LaVine, CHI
PG Coby White, CHI
PG/SG Dejounte Murray, ATL
PG TJ McConnell
PG/SG Jaden Ivey, DET
SG Jalen Green, HOU
SG/SF Bruce Brown, IND
SG/SF Alex Caruso, CHI
PG/SG Josh Richardson, MIA (Preferred if starting)
PG Jacob Gilyard, MEM (GPP Punt, safer play if starting)
PG/SG RJ Hampton, MIA (GPP Punt, safer play if starting)
Small Forwards/Power Forwards to Consider 🏀
PF Jalen Johnson, ATL | DK: $7.2k, FD: $7.9k | vs. IND
This total opened at 255 and has since gone down to a 251.5 over/under, but that’s still a huge number so it would be wise to gain exposure to this match-up. In two previous match-ups between the Hawks and Pacers this season, these two fast-paced, defense-averse teams have combined for 307 points and 266 points. The latter score was a 150-116 Pacers blowout win, but with this game being in Atlanta and the Pacers playing without Tyrese Haliburton, it seems unlikely that another blowout will occur. Either way, Jalen Johnson is playing some inspired ball lately. He’s averaging a double-double over his last five games (20.2 PPG, 11.0 RPG) while racking up 1.28 FPPM. Johnson brings a high floor/ceiling combo to DFS lineups tonight at reasonable mid-range price tags.
SF/PF Tobias Harris, PHI | DK: $7.2k, FD: $7.6k | vs. SAC
Harris carries similar DFS price points to the aforementioned Jalen Johnson, but he sets up as an equally strong play with Joel Embiid and Robert Covington out for tonight’s game. With those two players off the floor this season, Harris has handled a team-high +4.94% usage increase and +6.92 fantasy points per 48 minutes. He put up a huge 32-point double-double performance on Wednesday and he’ll once again make plenty of sense out of the $7k range.
SF Cam Whitmore, HOU | DK: $4.3k, FD: $4.9k | @ DET
Whitmore has only appeared in 13 games this season but, due to injuries to Tari Eason and Dillon Brooks, his minutes have been trending up lately. He logged a season-high 33 minutes on Wednesday in what was a competitive game against the Bulls. Whitmore is at 1.18 FPPM on the season so if he can snag high-20s minutes off the bench tonight, he should fare very well against the Pistons’ 28th-ranked defense.
Other Forwards to Consider
PF Paolo Banchero, ORL
PF/C Victor Wembanyama, SAS (DK Preferred)
PF/C Karl-Anthony Towns, MIN (Boost if R. Gobert is out)
SF/PF DeMar DeRozans, CHI (DK Preferred)
PF Keegan Murray, SAC
SF/PF Jamie Jaquez Jr., MIA
PF/C Naz Reid, MIN (Preferred if R. Gobert is out)
PF Saddiq Bey, ATL
PF/C Jalen Smith, IND (Currently questionable)
PF/C Nikola Jovic, MIA
PF/C Obi Toppin, IND (Bump if J. Smith is out)
PF David Roddy, MEM
Centers to Consider 🏀
C Alperen Sengun, HOU | DK: $8.4k, FD: $8.9k | @ DET
This sets up as a potential 50+ FP night for Sengun as he takes on a Pistons team that has ranked dead last versus starting centers L20Games. Sengun is posting a stellar 1.39 FPPM and +12.0% more FPPG in road games this season and I would not expect this awful Pistons team to slow him down tonight.
C Dominick Barlow, SAS | DK: $3.9k, FD: $4.8k | vs. CHA
Barlow has taken over the backup center role while Zach Collins (out) has been sidelined for each of the last five games. He’s averaging 1.21 FPPM in that span and, most recently, he logged a season-high 24 minutes on Wednesday while scoring 31.0 DKFP/32.6 FDFP. In what is another lost season, the Spurs seem to be content in limiting rookie phenom Victor Wembanyama to low/mid-20s minutes so Barlow should maintain his role off of the bench for the time being. The Hornets are allowing the 8th most points in the paint per game and check in at 26th in rebounding%.
Other Centers to Consider
C Domantas Sabonis, SAC
C Bam Adebayo, MIA
C Nikola Vucevic, CHI (DK Preferred)
C Myles Turner, IND
C Ivica Zubac, LAC
C Clint Capela, ATL
C Paul Reed, PHI
C Xavier Tillman (MEM released B. Biyombo)
