DFS Main Slate Rundown 📰
Seven games land on the Monday main slate! There is one additional game on today’s NBA schedule between the Hawks and Kings, but both DraftKings and FanDuel have elected to leave that match-up off of their main slates. That's a little unfortunate since it’d be an enticing atmosphere for DFS purposes but, hey, we’ve still got plenty of NBA action to dive into! There will be a moderate amount of injury news to track today but most of the bigger names have already been ruled out. Let’s get into it and best of luck!

Point Guards/Shooting Guards to Consider 🏀
PG Damian Lillard, MIL | DK: $9.2k, FD: $9.1k | @ DET
These two teams just met two days ago and Lillard supplied a monster 45-point, 11-assist double-double. The key to that performance was the fact that the Pistons were able to keep things competitive for four quarters, ultimately losing to the Bucks by a score of 135-141. The odds of the 4-38 Pistons keeping pace with the Bucks again do not seem favorable and they’ll be +12.5 underdogs tonight. Nonetheless, Lillard has had three great games against Detroit this season, averaging 57.2 DKFP/gm and no fewer than 47.5 DKFP/46.3 FDFP. The Bucks lead the slate with a huge 130.0 implied team total and, even if things do trend toward a blowout, Lillard can still “get there” from a value standpoint.
PG Coby White, CHI | DK: $7.2k, FD: $7.7k | @ PHX
Zach LaVine (ankle/out) will be back on the sidelines for a week or two so it may be time to buy back into Coby White. LaVine missed 17 games between Nov. 30th and Jan. 3rd and White posted a slew of 40+ and 50+ FP scores in that stretch. We’re going to love the match-up here as well. The Suns, who are on the second leg of a back-to-back, have ranked dead last versus starting PGs L20Games and have allowed 43.8 DKFP/42.9 FDFP per game to starting PGs in that span. White surpassed the $8k DFS price threshold during that extended stretch where LaVine was out, so we may be getting a bit of a discount on him at his current price points.
SG/SF Nickeil Alexander-Walker, MIN | DK: $3.5k, FD: $4.4k | vs. CHA
Recommending NAW always makes me a little queasy but he’s cheap and should move into the starting lineup with Mike Conley out tonight. Anthony Edwards was also a late addition to the injury report and is listed as questionable tonight -- oftentimes, someone being added to the injury report so late in the day generally isn’t a good sign for that player’s availability. We’ve seen Alexander-Walker post quite a few duds even when he does get the starting nod and play 30+ minutes. But we’ve also seen him provide a huge ceiling -- specifically back on Nov. 30th when he put up 50.75 DKFP against the Jazz. Worth noting, that Anthony Edwards was out for that game so NAW’s ceiling would be much better should Edwards also sit out tonight. Either way, he’s likely going to be chalk on this slate, especially on DraftKings at $3,500. If Edwards is active, I believe there would be some merit in fading Alexander-Walker in GPPs in hopes of another dud out of him but, for now, he stands out as a worthy value option.
Other Guards to Consider
PG Luka Doncic, DAL | DK: $11.2k, FD: $12k | vs. BOS
PG Tyrese Maxey, PHI | DK: $8.8k, FD: $9k | vs. SAS
PG/SG Anthony Edwards, MIN | DK: $8.4k, FD: $9k | vs. CHA (Currently questionable - DK Preferred)
PG Immanuel Quickley, TOR | DK: $6.8k, FD: $7.3k | vs. MEM
PG/SG Derrick White, BOS | DK: $6.7k, FD: $7.4k | @ DAL
PG/SG Jaden Ivey, DET | DK: $6.7k, FD: $7.5k | vs. MIL (DK Preferred)
PG/SG Luke Kennard, MEM | DK: $5.4k, FD: $5.5k | @ TOR
SG/SF Alec Burks, DET | DK: $5.4k, FD: $6.1k | vs. MIL
SG Sam Merrill, CLE | DK: $4.8k, FD: $5.1k | @ ORL (Preferred if LeVert is out)
SG Gary Trent Jr., TOR | DK: $4.4k, FD: $4.9k | vs. MEM
SG/SF John Konchar, MEM | DK: $3.9k, FD: $4.1k | @ TOR
PG Jordan McLaughlin, MIN | DK: $3.4k, FD: $4.1k | vs. CHA (Preferred if Edwards is out)
Small Forwards/Power Forwards to Consider 🏀
PF/C Jaren Jackson Jr., MEM | DK: $7.9k, FD: $8.4k | @ TOR
We’re getting a stronger sample size for the Grizzlies in their current injury situation. In 258 minutes with Desmond Bane, Marcus Smart, Ja Morant, and Derrick Rose off the floor this season, Jackson has accounted for a team-leading +6.21% usage increase. His usage is just under 35% over his last five games and, thanks to his excellent shot-blocking ability, a monster performance may be just around the corner if he maintains that elite level of usage. The Raptors have also been a team that I’ve been attacking with opposing bigs recently. Jakob Poeltl (ankle/out) has been sidelined for the last seven games and they no longer have Pascal Siakam (traded to IND) to help man the paint either. All in all, I believe Jackson provides a strong floor today and it’s not a bad spot for a potential ceiling game either.
SF/SG RJ Barrett, TOR | DK: $6.9k, FD: $7.1k | vs. MEM
The Raptors haven’t been getting many wins lately but, for DFS purposes, RJ Barrett’s new tenure in Toronto has gone well. He has scored at least 33.0 DKFP/32.0 FDFP in seven of the last eight games, and at least 41.0 DKFP/40.1 FDFP in four of those games, and he’s leading the team in minutes per game in that stretch. Memphis has ranked 22nd versus starting SFs L20Games so it’s a good spot for Barrett to post up another 40+ FP performance.
PF/C Naz Reid, MIN | DK: $4.9k, FD: $6.3k | vs. CHA
I’m not sure if I’d have much interest in Naz Reid at his current FanDuel price tag, but he’s still under $5k on DraftKings, so he’ll be an intriguing value option over there today. Reid’s minutes aren’t always going to be stable since he plays off of the bench and the T-Wolves’ frontcourt is healthy. But, more often than not, he’s been handling mid-20s minutes lately and he’s averaging a sturdy 1.15 FPPM over his last five games. It’s a great match-up versus the Hornets, who struggle against reserve units and rank 28th in overall DEFRTG. Reid logged 25 minutes against the Hornets earlier this season which was enough time for him to put up 34.75 DKFP. Reid also averages about +10% more FPPG at home and he could see a few additional minutes in the event of a blowout (MIN: -13.5).
Other Forwards to Consider
PF/C Giannis Antetokounmpo, MIL | DK: $11k, FD: $12.3k | @ DET
PF/C Victor Wembanyama, SAS | DK: $8.7k, FD: $10.1k | @ PHI (DK Preferred)
SF/PG Scottie Barnes, TOR | DK: $8.2k, FD: $8.9k | vs. MEM
PF/C Karl-Anthony Towns, MIN | DK: $7.7k, FD: $8k | vs. CHA (Preferred if Edwards is out)
SF/PF DeMar DeRozan, CHI | DK: $7.4k, FD: $8.2k | @ PHX
SF/PF Tobias Harris, PHI | DK: $6.9k, FD: $7.5k | vs. SAS
SF Vince Williams Jr., MEM | DK: $6.2k, FD: $6.7k | @ TOR
PF/C Santi Aldama, MEM | DK: $5k, FD: $5.9k | @ TOR (Boost if starting/X. Tillman is out)
SF/PF Ausar Thompson, DET | DK: $4.6k, FD: $5.3k | vs. MIL (Boost if I. Stewart is out)
SF/PF Kyle Anderson, MEM | DK: $3.7k, FD: $5.1k | vs. CHA (DK Preferred)
Centers to Consider 🏀
C Joel Embiid, PHI | DK: $11.4k, FD: $12.5k | vs. SAS
Embiid versus Wemby makes for an intriguing storyline in this game but, realistically, the 76ers should cruise to an easy ‘W’ tonight. They’re slate-leading 14-point favorites today but, as we have seen time and time again, Embiid may just need three quarters to record another huge 60+ FP performance. The Spurs are allowing the 10th most points in the paint per game and rank 27th in rebounding%. Wembanyama is only playing around 25 minutes per game these days and, when he is off the floor, the Spurs transition into, by far, the worst defensive team in the NBA. I’m honestly amazed he isn’t over $12k on DraftKings yet and, even at $12,500 on FanDuel, Embiid remains firmly in play since he provides the safest floor in NBA DFS.
C Luke Kornet, BOS | DK: $4.7k, FD: $4.7k | @ DAL
This Celtics/Mavs match-up could be the game of the night. It owns a strong 240 over/under to go along with a close spread (BOS: -3). Kristaps Porzingis (knee/out) will sit out on the second leg of the back-to-back. Boston may elect to slot Al Horford into the starting lineup, but Luke Kornet could also get the starting nod. Kornet could still be in play even if he isn’t starting, but we’d feel much more comfortable if he does. He’s averaging 1.10 FPPM as a starter this season and, at $4,700 on both sites, he would bring some decent double-double upside to lineups. Kornet has also been racking up a ton of blocked shots when he’s able to play around 30 minutes. This is an 8:30 ET tip-off, so we may not know the Celtics starting lineup until around 8:00 ET. So, it may be worth having a backup plan in place if Kornet ends up maintaining his usual reserve role.
Other Centers to Consider
C Jarrett Allen, CLE | DK: $7.8k, FD: $8.7k | @ ORL (DK Preferred)
C Rudy Gobert, MIN | DK: $7.4k, FD: $8.1k | vs. CHA
C Brook Lopez, MIL | DK: $6.5k, FD: $6.9k | @ DET
C Wendell Carter Jr., ORL | DK: $5.4k, FD: $6.6k | vs. CLE
C Xavier Tillman, MEM | DK: $5.3k, FD: $6.3k | @ TOR (Currently questionable)
C Jontay Porter, TOR | DK: $4.2k, FD: $5.1k | vs. MEM
