DFS Main Slate Rundown 📰
Another mammoth NBA slate hits the board with 13 games on tap today! It’ll be nice once the schedule gets a bit more staggered so we’re not always flip-flopping between mini slates, like yesterday (3 games) and tomorrow (4 games), and gigantic slates, like today, but we’ll play the slate that’s in front of us! These huge slates always have a lot going on so make sure you’re on top of all the various injury news and potential starting lineup fluctuations. Let’s get into it and best of luck!

Note: NBA position designations are never going to perfectly align between the major DFS sites. For the purposes of these newsletters, positional designations will default to DraftKings.
Point Guards/Shooting Guards to Consider 🏀
PG Luka Doncic, DAL | DK: $12.6k, FD: $12.9k | vs. CHI
Luka’s DFS salaries are getting a bit ridiculous but not as ridiculous as the numbers he’s putting up this season. Of course, it’s just a three-game sample size, but Luka has already put up a pair of triple-doubles while averaging 39.0 PPG, 11.7 RPG, 9.7 APG, 1.3 BLK+STL/gm, and he’s shooting 48.6% from three-point range while hoisting 12.3 3PA/gm. He has scored no less than 72.25 DKFP/65.6 FDFP while averaging 75.6 DKFP/68.2 FDFP. The Mavs are also playing at the 6th fastest pace this season, though, they will get a notable pace downgrade against the Bulls, who rank 26th in pace. Regardless, with Kyrie Irving (foot/doubtful) looking unlikely to suit up again tonight, Doncic is going to be even more of the “do-it-all” man that he already is. The Mavs are -4 home favorites in this one, so we’re not expecting a blowout either. If you can pay the premium, you’re getting the best floor in NBA DFS from Luka.
PG/SG Dejounte Murray, ATL | DK: $7.3k, FD: $8.3k | vs. WAS
The highest total of the day (238 O/U) will be found in this game between the Hawks and Wizards. It’s easy to see why, considering both teams rank among the top seven in pace (WAS: 1st, ATL: 7th) and bottom eight in defensive rating (WAS: 29th, ATL: 23rd). Dejounte Murray would approach borderline lock status if Trae Young (Achilles/questionable) is unable to play. For now, we should likely expect Young to suit up. Murray is still firmly in play regardless of Young’s status and, despite being much cheaper in DFS salary, he provides just as much upside as his backcourt partner evidenced by a 41-point performance against the T-Wolves on Monday which netted 61.25 DKFP/59.9 FDFP. As we have seen a couple of times this season, and many times last season, Murray’s floor can be underwhelming but he’ll be tough to ignore in this specific game environment that will see massive shot volume and peripheral stat opportunities.
SG Malik Monk, SAC | DK: $5.7k, FD: $5k | @ GSW
These Kings/Warriors match-ups have had a propensity to turn into high-scoring affairs over the last year but Sacramento will be without their star point guard De’Aaron Fox (ankle/out) tonight. While we’re a long way out from knowing the starting lineups for this 10:00 ET tip-off, the expectation is that Davion Mitchell (DK: $4.8k, FD: $4.7k) will get the start in place of Fox, which was the norm last season whenever Fox was sidelined. However, Mitchell just isn’t a consistent fantasy producer and has averaged just 0.54 FPPM this season. If I’m going with a Kings' guard, I’ll pay slightly more for Monk (+$900 on DK, +$300 on FD) over Mitchell. Monk is just a much more aggressive scorer and, despite coming off of the bench, he should see an expanded role overall along with additional minutes, especially if Mitchell struggles to lead the offense. Monk is averaging 1.20 FPPM with a 26.3% USG% this season. Since the start of last season, Monk has seen a +5.2% USG% increase when Fox is off the floor along with spikes in assist rate and a slight bump in blocks, steals, and rebounds. While this game doesn’t have a massive spread (GSW -7), Monk is a bit more protected from a blowout since he does work more with the second unit. A 40+ FP performance is not out of the question for Monk this evening.
Other Guards to Consider
SG/SF Anthony Edwards, MIN | DK: $9.3k, FD: $9.1k | vs. DEN
SG Desmond Bane, MEM | DK: $8.5k, FD: $8.7k | @ UTA
PG/SG Tyler Herro, MIA | DK: $7.5k, FD: $7.9k | vs. BKN
PG Russell Westbrook, LAC | DK: $7.1k, FD: $7.6k | @ LAL
PG/SF Ben Simmons, BKN | DK: $6.8k, FD: $7.1k | @ MIA
PG/SG Cam Thomas, BKN | DK: $6.6k, FD: $7.8k | @ MIA (DK Preferred)
SG/SF Shaedon Sharpe, POR | DK: $6k, FD: $6.7k | @ DET
PG/SG Malcolm Brogdon, POR | DK: $5.7k, FD: $5.9k | @ DET
PG Bones Hyland, LAC | DK: $5.1k, FD: $4.7k | @ LAL (Assuming he starts)
PG Talen Horton-Tucker, UTA | DK: $4.9k, FD: $5.8k | vs. MEM (DK Preferred)
SF/SG Alec Burks, DET | DK: $4.6k, FD: $4.6k | vs. POR
SG Jordan Hawkins, NO | DK: $3.8k, FD: $4.3k | @ OKC (Only if B. Ingram is out again & Hawkins starts)
Small Forwards/Power Forwards to Consider 🏀
SF/SG Paul George, LAC | DK: $9k, FD: $8.4k | @ LAL
I don’t believe it’s vital to spend up at the forward position today but I imagine most of the DFS world will feel the same way, leaving many of these high-end forwards at low ownership. The Clippers are going to be a headache to “get right” this season, especially once James Harden is factored in. While the Clippers didn’t give away any major pieces to get Harden in the recent trade, they did send off four bench players, three of whom have played somewhat notable roles with the Clippers early on this season (R. Covington, N. Batum, and KJ Martin). Harden won’t make his Clippers debut until Monday, at the earliest. In the meantime, I don’t believe it was a huge coincidence that George posted a season-high 51.75 DKFP/48.9 FDFP in last night’s game against the Magic. The Clippers won that game by 16 points, so George wasn’t pushed for huge minutes but he did average a strong 1.57 FPPM. The Clippers are +5 underdogs against their crosstown rivals tonight, so we could see upper-30s minutes out of George in this game. If Kawhi Leonard happens to sit out the second leg of the back-to-back, George becomes a more obvious play. The Clippers have had a history of resting George on B2Bs as well, so be on the lookout for any surprise news regarding both George and Leonard. Right now, assuming he starts as usual, George looks like an excellent bargain at $8,400 on FanDuel and another 50+ DKFP performance would certainly be nice high-end value at his flat $9,000 salary on DraftKings.
PF Jalen Johnson, ATL | DK: $5.4k, FD: $6k | vs. WAS
Jalen Johnson continues to earn a spotlight in these NBA newsletters but he continues to bring a strong floor to the table at his modest salaries. Johnson is contributing in all five major categories with 14.5 PPG (on 65.8% FG%), 7.0 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.5 STL/gm, and 1.0 BLK/gm. He has started the last two games for the Hawks and, most recently, logged a season-high 33 minutes. As mentioned in the Dejounte Murray spotlight, this is a game we’re likely going to want to gain exposure to, especially on the Hawks' side. The Hawks lead the slate with a 123.8 implied point total and the Wizards are playing at the fastest pace in the NBA while allowing a league-high 125.0 PPG. Johnson perhaps won’t be a candidate to “break the slate” but he stands out as simply a rock-solid all-around play with a strong floor and 7x-8x upside.
SF/PF Brandon Miller, CHA | DK: $5.4k, FD: $6k | @ HOU
It hasn’t taken long for the second overall pick in this year’s NBA Draft to take on a sizable role with the Charlotte Hornets. Miller has played 36 and 33 minutes off of the bench in the last two games while posting DFS totals of 39.25 DKFP/38.8 FDFP and 31.0 DKFP/30.2 FDFP. A forward who can shoot is always a great fantasy option and Miller is sinking 43.8% of his shots from beyond the arc through three games while contributing solid peripheral stats. The Rockets rank 27th in defensive rating and we should see Miller continue to play mid-30s minutes off of the bench.
Other Forwards to Consider
PF/C Giannis Antetokounmpo, MIL | DK: $11k, FD: $10.8k | @ TOR
SF/PF LeBron James, LAL | DK: $9.1k, FD: $9.7k | vs. LAC
SF/PF Lauri Markkanen, UTA | DK: $8.4k, FD: $8.6k | vs. MEM
PF/C Jaren Jackson Jr., MEM | DK: $8.3k, FD: $8.9k | @ UTA
SF/PG Scottie Barnes, TOR | DK: $7.8k, FD: $8.9k | vs. MIL (DK Preferred)
SF/SG Jaylen Brown, BOS | DK: $7.7k, FD: $8k | vs. IND
PF Jerami Grant, POR | DK: $6.2k, FD: $6.3k | @ DET
PF/C PJ Washington, CHA | DK: $5.8k, FD: $6.5k | @ HOU
SF/PF Ausar Thompson, DET | DK: $5.8k, FD: $6.7k | vs. POR
PF/C John Collins, UTA | DK: $5.5k, FD: $6.2k | vs. MEM
PF Jabari Smith Jr., HOU | DK: $5.5k, FD: $5.8k | vs. CHA
SF/SG Lonnie Walker IV, BKN | DK: $4.8k, FD: $4.6k | @ MIA
SF/PF Josh Green, DAL | DK: $4.3k, FD: $4.5k | vs. CHI
SF/SG Chris Duarte, SAC | DK: $3.9k, FD: $3.8k | @ GSW
Centers to Consider 🏀
PF/C Marvin Bagley Jr., DET | DK: $4k, FD: $4.7k | vs. POR
As you’d expect on a monstrous 13-game slate, there are plenty of centers worth rolling with out of the upper and middle salary ranges, but I want to give a couple of cheap center plays a spotlight today. Pistons’ starting center Jalen Duren (ankle) looks to be on the wrong side of his questionable tag after missing Wednesday’s morning shootaround. Should he sit, Bagley would either start or see increased run off of the bench. He’s averaging a sturdy 1.22 FPPM through four games this season and would set up well against a Trailblazers team that is allowing the 7th most points in the paint per game (54.5) and is 18th in rebounding%. If Duren does play, Bagley is still a viable cheap option on DraftKings but he won’t be quite as appealing on FanDuel.
C Onyeka Okongwu, ATL | DK: $3.9k, FD: $4.9k | vs. WAS
Okongwu checks in with similar DFS salaries as Bagwell and he’s another value option we can look for from the five position today. Okongwu has split the center minutes with starter Clint Capela much more evenly in the last couple of games, logging 23 minutes on Sunday and 24 minutes on Monday. And, worth noting, it wasn’t necessarily due to Capela getting into any sort of significant foul trouble. Okongwu just contributes solid numbers when he’s on the court and he’s averaging right around a FPPM this season. He’ll get a plus match-up against the poor defensive play of the Wizards.
Other Centers to Consider
C Nikola Jokic, DEN | DK: $12k, FD: $12.1k | @ MIN
C Domantas Sabonis, SAC | DK: $10.5k, FD: $10.1k | @ GSW
C Anthony Davis, LAL | DK: $9.8k, FD: $11.6k | vs. LAC (DK Preferred)
C Alperun Sengun, HOU | DK: $7.7k, FD: $8.2k | vs. CHA
C Myles Turner, IND | DK: $6.7k, FD: $7.9k | @ BOS
C Isaiah Hartenstein, NYK | DK: $3.5k, FD: $4.3k | vs. CLE
