Main Slate Match-Ups w/ Game Totals & Point Spreads

Top DraftKings & FanDuel DFS Plays

Note: NBA position designations are never going to perfectly align between the major DFS sites. For the purposes of these newsletters, positional designations will default to DraftKings.

Point Guards/Shooting Guards to Consider 🏀

PG Trae Young, ATL | DK: $9.2k, FD: $9.2k | vs. PHI

Among the high-priced guards on this slate, there isn’t necessarily one or two guys that stand out among the rest. But we’ll put Trae Young in the spotlight today, who carries a $9,200 salary on both sites. From a fantasy floor perspective, Young has been extremely solid, scoring no fewer than 37.75 DKFP/35.7 FDFP in any of his 10 games played this season. Of course, for a $9,200 player, we’re going to want more than that, but there is some peace of mind knowing that Young has a low probability of posting a complete dud. We’ve only seen one truly massive performance out of Young this season (11/09 @ ORL, 65.0 DKFP/63.8 FDFP) but it’s also worth pointing out that he has yet to find his stroke from three in 2023. Young is a career 35% three-point shooter but is only sinking 27.8% of his shots from beyond the arc this season and he’s attempting 7.2 3PA/gm. He is picking it up elsewhere, averaging 10.9 APG and 1.6 STL/gm so, once a few more threes begin to drop, we’ll start to see more of those ceiling games. The 76ers have taken a slight step back defensively, rating 11th in DEFRTG, and they’ve pushed the tempo much more this season, ranking 11th in pace. The Hawks continue to be among the fastest-paced teams in the NBA (3rd in pace) and, as a result, we’re seeing one of the higher totals of the slate in this game (236.5 O/U). The Hawks are also slight one-point home favorites this evening. In eight close games, Young has averaged 52.25 DKFP/49.25 FDFP per game.

PG D’Angelo Russell, LAL | DK: $7.1k, FD: $7.3k | @ POR

Russell has been on a nice run as of late, averaging 1.31 FPPM and 39.1 DKFP/37.92 FDFP over his previous five starts. He remains an affordable guard out of the $7k range and he even saw a $400 price decrease on DraftKings despite coming off of one of his best fantasy showings of the season (44.75 DKFP). Russell’s assist numbers are up this season (6.6 APG) and he’s sinking a respectable 37.1% of his three-pointers. The Lakers have struggled on the road in the early portion of the season with a 1-5 away record. Russell has also seen a decrease in fantasy production in road games. Fortunately, it’s not exactly an incredibly hostile environment in Portland these days and the Lakers are strong -8.5 road favorites.

PG Reggie Jackson, DEN | DK: $5k, FD: $5k | @ NOP

Until we see certain “questionable” designations flip over to “out,” there will be limited standout value guards to choose from on this slate. At a flat $5,000 on both sits, Reggie Jackson will be one cheaper guard play to consider. He has started the previous four games with Jamal Murray (hamstring/out) sidelined, and he has played at least 28 minutes in each of the last three games. He’s averaging 0.94 FPPM in those last three starts so, another game with 28 to 32-ish minutes opens up a very reasonable pathway to 6x value or better. The Pelicans have been a below-average defensive team (18th DEFRTG) and they provide a quality pace-up match-up for Denver. The Nuggets check in at 28th in pace this season but there should be some added possessions versus the Pelicans, who check in at 8th in pace. While he doesn’t make for an exciting DFS play, Jackson will be a strong value option nonetheless.

Other Guards to Consider

PG LaMelo Ball, CHA | DK: $10.2k, FD: $9.5k | vs. MIL

PG Damian Lillard, MIL | DK: $9.8k, FD: $8.8k | @ CHA (FD Preferred)

PG De’Aaron Fox, SAC | DK: $9k, FD: $9.3k | @ SAS

SG/SF Caris LeVert, CLE | DK: $6.9k, FD: $6.5k | vs. DET (Preferred if D. Mitchell and/or D. Garland sit)

PG/SG Jordan Clarkson, UTA | DK: $6.8k, FD: $7k | vs. PHX

PG/SG Skylar Mays, POR | DK: $6.7k, FD: $6.9k | vs. LAL

SG/SF Austin Reaves, LAL | DK: $6.1k, FD: $6.1k | @ POR

SG Kevin Huerter, SAC | DK: $5.9k, FD: $5.7k | @ SAS

PG/SG De’Anthony Melton, PHI | DK: $5.6k, FD: $5.6k | @ ATL

PG/SG Cole Anthony, ORL | DK: $5.4k, FD: $5.3k | @ CHI (If J. Suggs is out)

PG Keyonte George, UTA | DK: $5.4k, FD: $4.9k | vs. PHX

PG/SG Malik Monk, SAC | DK: $5.4k, FD: $5.7k | @ SAS

PG Dyson Daniels, SAS | DK: $5.1k, FD: $5.5k | vs. DEN

SG/SF Cam Reddish, LAL | DK: $4.8k, FD: $5.4k | @ POR (DK Preferred)

PG/SG Collin Sexton, UTA | DK: $4.1k, FD: $4.7k | vs. PHX (DK Preferred)

Small Forwards/Power Forwards to Consider 🏀

PF Kevin Durant, PHX | DK: $9.7k, FD: $9.9k | @ UTA

The Suns have yet to have their ‘big three’ of KD, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal on the court at the same time this season. That will continue tonight with Beal (out) experiencing another setback with his lower back injury. Kevin Durant is back under $10k on both sites today and he’ll set up as a worthy high-floor spend-up option at forward. He has scored no fewer than 49.5 DKFP/48.2 FDFP in any of his previous six games and he’s averaging 1.43 FPPM over his last five starts. Match-up-wise, the Jazz offer up the always-welcomed combination of fast tempo (7th in pace) and poor defensive play (26th in DEFRTG). That will lead to the Suns owning the third-highest implied team total on the slate of 121 points. Though the potential is there, we can’t bank on a 60+ FP ceiling-type game from KD tonight, but he remains a rock-solid play if you’re spending up at the power forward position (also SF eligible on FD).

SF/PF Michael Porter Jr., DEN | DK: $6.8k, FD: $7.3k | @ NOP

The MPJ hot streak came to an end in Denver’s last game against the Clippers. He tallied just 10 points on 11 shot attempts while collecting just five rebounds, zero assists, and one block/steal apiece. There’s reason to believe he’ll get back on track tonight. In his five games prior to Tuesday’s dud performance, Porter had attempted at least 16 FGA in each of those games while averaging 23 PPG and 8.4 RPG. Porter posted 38.25 DKFP/36.3 FDFP in just 29 minutes against the Pelicans when these teams met 11 days ago on November 6th. With no Jamal Murray, there are still some extra shots to go around and we’ll look for MPJ to bounce back this evening.

SF/PF Kevin Knox II, DET | DK: $4k, FD: $4.1k | @ CLE

There is some speculation that Kevin Knox II will earn the start tonight after taking morning shootaround with the starters. Center Jaren Duren (ankle) remains out while Marvin Bagley III (illness/questionable) was spotted working with the second unit at the Pistons’ shootaround. Knox has played in the previous two games off of the bench, logging 29 and 24 minutes and averaging 0.87 FPPM. If he moves into the starting rotation and plays 30+ minutes, he’ll be a great bet to return value on these low-end DFS salaries.

Other Forwards to Consider

SF/PG Scottie Barnes, TOR | DK: $9.3k, FD: $9.5k | vs. BOS

PF/C Julius Randle, NYK | DK: $8.8k, FD: $8.8k | @ WAS

PF/C Victor Wembanyama, SAS | DK: $8.7k, FD: $8.6k | vs. SAC

PF/C Evan Mobley, CLE | DK: $7.6k, FD: $7.9k | vs. DET

SF/PF Gordon Hayward, CHA | DK: $7.3k, FD: $7.2k | vs. MIL (Hayward is currently questionable)

PF Aaron Gordon, DEN | DK: $6.6k, FD: $7.5k | @ NOP (DK Preferred)

SF/PF Tobias Harris, PHI | DK: $6.3k, FD: $6.9k | @ ATL

PF Jalen Johnson, ATL | DK: $6.1k, FD: $6.4k | vs. PHI

PF/C Robert Covington, PHI | DK: $4.5k, FD: $4.8k | @ ATL

SF/PF Ochai Agbaji, UTA | DK: $4k, FD: $4.3k | vs. PHX

PF/C Jabari Walker, POR | DK: $3.7k, FD: $4k | vs. LAL

Centers to Consider 🏀

C Nikola Jokic, DEN | DK: $12.5k, FD: $12.8k | @ NOP

Even at his slate-high DFS salaries, Jokic looks like a potential value this evening. He’s just been too good lately, scoring at least 67.25 DKFP/63.7 FDFP in six consecutive games. Despite shooting poorly from the field in his last game (8-of-23), Jokic still racked up 32 points and fell one assist shy of yet another triple-double. He has handled a team-high +2.89% usage boost and has seen a +15.81 FP (per 48 minutes) increase with Jamal Murray (out) off the court this season. He also thrived against the Pelicans four games ago, racking up 35 points, 14 rebounds, 12 assists, and 79.0 DKFP/73.8 FDFP. The “down game” could come at any moment but I’m not sure how you completely fade the Joker given his current hot streak.

C Mitchell Robinson, NYK | DK: $5.5k, FD: $6k | @ WAS

Robinson can be a volatile DFS option but he’s cut back on the foul troubles this season and has logged at least 31 minutes in four of the last five games. He doesn’t offer a ton of raw scoring upside, but he is an excellent rebounder and he’s also adding 2.5 STL+BLK/gm to his box scores. Washington ranks dead last in rebounding percentage (44.1%) this season and they’ve been the fastest-paced team in the NBA. Robinson has averaged +22% FPPG in pace-up match-ups, so he provides some nice potential upside among the lower-priced starting centers on this slate.

Other Centers to Consider

C Joel Embiid, PHI | DK: $11.4k, FD: $12.2k | @ ATL (Embiid is currently questionable)

C Anthony Davis, LAL | DK: $10.1k, FD: $11.3k | @ POR (DK Preferred)

C Domantas Sabonis, SAC | DK: $10k, FD: $10.3k | @ SAS

C Alperen Sengun, HOU | DK: $7.7k, FD: $8.2k | @ LAC

C Jarrett Allen, CLE | DK: $5.9k, FD: $6.3k | vs. DET (Could still be on a light minutes limit)

C Nick Richards, CHA | DK: $4.1k, FD: $4.6k | vs. MIL (DK Preferred)

C Duop Reath, POR | DK: $3.4k, FD: $3.9k | vs. LAL
