DFS Main Slate Rundown 📰

Top DraftKings & FanDuel DFS Plays

Note: NBA position designations are never going to perfectly align between the major DFS sites. For the purposes of these newsletters, positional designations will default to DraftKings.

Point Guards/Shooting Guards to Consider 🏀

PG CJ McCollum, NOP | DK: $7.2k, FD: $7.7k | vs. DET

With the back-to-back in play, the Pelicans will be without PF Zion Williamson (rest) for the first time this season, and they may not have SF/SG Brandon Ingram (knee/questionable) for a third consecutive game. Ingram will have a decent chance to play tonight, but Williamson will leave behind a 31.3% USG% that will need to be distributed elsewhere. CJ McCollum has been a steady source of production in all four games this season, scoring at least 34.75 DKFP/36.7 FDFP in every game, and he’s coming off of a season-high 29 points scored in last night’s contest while posting his best fantasy total of the season with 55.75 DKFP/51.7 FDFP. Over the last two seasons, McCollum has seen the largest usage increase on the team when one or both of Zion and Ingram have been off the court.

SG Jordan Clarkson, UTA | DK: $5.4k, FD: $6k | vs. ORL

Clarkson has battled some shooting woes in the early season, but he righted the ship last night in what was his most efficient scoring game up to this point (8-13 FGM-FGA, 61.5% FG%, 20 PTS). He also contributed six rebounds, five assists, and two steals despite playing somewhat limited minutes (26) in a 133-109 blowout over the Grizzlies. He’s shown the ability to exceed his current salary expectations with two games of at least 38.0 DKFP/35.8 FDFP. Clarkson’s 23.8% USG% is second among the Jazz starters, just barely behind Lauri Markkanen (25.5% USG%). While the floor has been suspect, Clarkson certainly provides one of the better ceilings among guards out of this general price range.

PG/SG Jalen Suggs, ORL | DK: $5k, FD: $5.1k | @ UTA

Sugges heads into this game, averaging 1.05 DKFPPM/1.10 FDFPPM and 29.8 DKFP/31.1 FDFP over his last three games. The Jazz (10th in pace) provide a strong pace upgrade for the Magic (26th in pace), and Utah has also graded out poorly on the defensive end, ranking 27th in defensive rating. Pending a blowout, Suggs will push for 28-32 minutes tonight and can provide some solid 6x potential on his modest $5k/$5.1k DFS salaries.

Other Guards to Consider

PG/SG Devin Booker, PHX | DK: $9.5k, FD: $9.7k | vs. SAS (Late swap candidate if it’s announced he will play after the initial 7 ET lock)

PG Tyrese Maxey, PHI | DK: $8.4k, FD: $8.9k | vs. TOR

PG/SG Dennis Schroder, TOR | DK: $6.2k, FD: $6.3k | @ PHI

PG/SG Cole Anthony, ORL | DK: $5.2k, FD: $5.4k | @ UTA

PG Talen Horton-Tucker, UTA | DK: $5.1k, FD: $5.6k | vs. ORL

SG Jordan Hawkins, NOP | DK: $4.6k, FD: $4.3k | vs. DET (Preferred if Hawkins starts in place of B. Ingram or Z. Williamson)

PG Marcus Sasser, DET | DK: $3.6k, FD: $3.6k | @ NOP (Only if A. Burks is out again)

Small Forwards/Power Forwards to Consider 🏀

PF/PG Scottie Barnes, TOR | DK: $8.2k, FD: $8.8k | @ PHI

Can the Scottie Barnes train keep rolling tonight? He’s been among the most consistent DFS assets of the early season, scoring no fewer than 44.0 DKFP/42.4 FDFP while averaging 48.7 DKFP/47.3 FDFP. His minutes have also been off the charts -- prior to last night’s blowout win over the Bucks, Barnes had played at least 37 minutes in each of the first four games of the season. Barnes is leading the team with a 25.9% USG% and he’s posting outstanding peripheral stats with 10.0 RPG, 5.4 APG, and 3.4 STL+BLK/gm. The Raptors have already met with the 76ers this season, and Barnes posted 46.0 DKFP/46.1 FDFP, and at this point, we should expect a similar output from him this evening.

SF/PF Kelly Oubre Jr., PHI | DK: $5.8k, FD: $5.8k | vs. TOR

Kelly Oubre Jr. will enter the starting lineup following the exodus of PJ Tucker to the Clippers. Oubre is well-regarded as a streaky player and he’s going to, in all likelihood, slide in 3rd among the 76ers starters in usage, behind Embiid and Maxey. Most of Oubre’s value comes heavily from scoring, so if he has a poor shooting night, his peripheral stats may not be enough to offset the lack of actual points. That said, he is averaging 1.03 DKFPPM/1.05 FDFPPM and, if he’s in line to play mid-to-upper 30s minutes like the rest of the starters, Oubre could certainly turn in a strong performance that would pay off his $5,800 price tag on both sites today.

SF/PF Cedi Osman, SAS | DK: $3.5k, FD: $4k | @ PHX

If you’re hunting for some value at either forward position, you could do much worse than giving Cedi Osman a look. He’s eligible for SF and PF on both sites and is averaging 0.89 FPPM while playing around 20 minutes/gm off of the Spurs bench. He’s shooting 50% from three-point range while averaging 11.8 PPG and 1.0 STL+BLK/gm. This game also has the largest spread of the night (PHX -9) so there’s potential for a few extra minutes for Osman if things trend toward a blowout.

Other Forwards to Consider

PF Kevin Durant, PHX | DK: $10.8k, FD: $10.8k | vs. SAS

PF/C Victor Wembanyama, SAS | DK: $7.9k, FD: $8k | @ PHX

SF Franz Wagner, ORL | DK: $6.7k, FD: $6.5k | @ UTA

SF Keldon Johnson, SAS | DK: $6.5k, FD: $7.2k | @ PHX

PF/C John Collins, UTA | DK: $5.6k, FD: $6.2k | vs. ORL

SF/SG Eric Gordon, PHX | DK: $5.5k, FD: $5.3k | vs. SAS (Preferred if D. Booker is out again)

PF Yuta Watanabe, PHX | DK: $3.5k, FD: $3.9k | vs. SAS

Centers to Consider 🏀

C Joel Embiid, PHI | DK: $11.5k, FD: $12k | vs. TOR

Kevin Durant hasn’t exactly capitalized on any sort of increased role with Devin Booker and Bradley Beal missing time this season. With Booker potentially back in the Suns lineup tonight, that leaves Joel Embiid as the clear-cut stud play on this small slate. He’s coming off of a Herculean 81.25 DKFP/84.5 FDFP performance against the Trailblazers on Sunday where he stuffed the stat sheet to the brim with 35 points, 15 boards, seven assists, six blocks, and two steals… all in just 29 minutes on the court. It was a good reminder that Embiid can go berserk at any time but he also provides the highest floor of any single player on today’s slate. He posted 63.25 DKFP/64.8 FDFP against this same Raptors team two games ago so, even though Toronto plays at the slowest pace in the NBA, there is plenty of opportunity for Embiid to return value on his lofty salaries.

C Jusuf Nurkic, PHX | DK: $7k, FD: $7.3k | vs. SAS

If you’re looking to pivot away from Embiid or possibly go with a double center build on DraftKings, Nurkic sets up as a strong target in this instant re-match with the Spurs. Nurk is putting up 1.27 FPPM and cracked the 30-minute threshold for the first time this season in the last game against San Antonio. The season-high in minutes also resulted in a season-high in fantasy points with 41.5 DKFP/41.4 FDFP. The Spurs are allowing the 2nd most points in the paint per game (56.5) and rank 28th in rebounding%, so it’s another great spot for a double-double night out of Nurkic.

Other Centers to Consider

C Jalen Duren, DET | DK: $6.8k, FD: $7.7k | @ NOP (DK Preferred -- If he’s back in the lineup)

C Jonas Valanciunas, NOP | DK: $5.9k, FD: $6.1k | vs. DET

C Drew Eubanks, PHX | DK: $4.5k, FD: $4.6k | vs. SAS

C Marvin Bagley III, DET | DK: $4.4k, FD: $5.2k | @ NOP (If J. Duren is out again)
