Main Slate Match-Ups w/ Game Totals & Point Spreads

Top DraftKings & FanDuel DFS Plays

Note: NBA position designations are never going to perfectly align between the major DFS sites. For the purposes of these newsletters, positional designations will default to DraftKings.

Point Guards/Shooting Guards to Consider 🏀

PG Trae Young, ATL | DK: $9.7k, FD: $9.6k | @ SAS

This match-up boasts a slate-high 248.5 over/under (ATL -7.5) so it’ll be difficult to completely ignore key players here, even on a fairly large slate. Trae Young had a poor shooting night (3-14, 13 points) against the Cavs on Tuesday but, in the four games prior, Young had poured in at least 26 points and averaged 57.9 DKFP/54.3 FDFP per game. Young has also seen a modest, but notable, +2.93% usage increase with Jalen Johnson (wrist/out) off the floor this season. The match-up does not get much better as the Spurs are among the worst teams at defending primary ball handlers, scorers, and dimers like Trae Young. The Spurs check in at 27th in DEFRTG and play at the 4th fastest pace. Combine that with the Hawks, who rank 3rd in pace, and you can see why Vegas has this over/under set at nearly 250 points. It seems as if the only way that Young flops in this spot is by way of either a massive blowout (in which he still may hit value) or injury.

PG/SG Terry Rozier, CHA | DK: $7.7k, FD: $7.8k | @ BKN

LaMelo Ball (ankle/out) will be sidelined for a while and is out for a second consecutive game. Rookie Brandon Miller is also questionable for this game. Rozier failed to deliver in an expanded role in Tuesday’s game against the Knicks. It’s understandable to an extent. The Knicks rank 4th in defensive rating and a 24-point blowout limited Rozier’s minutes a bit -- it was also a poor shooting night for Rozier (5-16, 11 points). Nonetheless, Rozier will see increased usage with Ball (and possibly Miller) off the court and the Nets rank 30th against primary ball handlers and 20th in overall defensive rating. The Hornets will be sizable +8.5 point road underdogs, but if they keep this game close, it’ll likely be by way of a productive game from Terry Rozier.

SG/SF Troy Brown Jr., MIN | DK: $4.2k, FD: $4k | vs. UTA

Brown is a leading candidate to either start or handle increased minutes/usage due to Anthony Edwards (hip/doubtful) likely sitting out for the first time this season. Brown has averaged 0.82 FPPM this season, which isn’t great, but good enough for 6x potential value if he manages to play around 30 minutes tonight. He’ll clearly set up better if he starts but monitor this 8:00 ET tip-off to see who Minnesota decides to sub into the starting rotation.

Other Guards to Consider

PG Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, OKC | DK: $10.5k, FD: $11.4k | vs. LAL (DK Preferred)

PG/SG Donovan Mitchell, CLE | DK: $9.3k, FD: $9.8k | vs. POR

PG Jalen Brunson, NYK | DK: $8.4k, FD: $8k | vs. DET

PG/SG Spencer Dinwiddie, BKN | DK: $7.8k, FD: $7.6k | vs. CHA

SG/SF Zach LaVine, CHI | DK: $7.4k, FD: $7.9k | vs. MIL (LaVine is currently questionable)

SG Devin Vassell, SAS | DK: $6.5k, FD: $6.5k | vs. ATL (Boost if Wemby and/or Sochan sit)

SG/SF Klay Thompson, GSW | DK: $6.4k, FD: $5.8k | vs. LAC

PG Kyle Lowry, MIA | DK: $5.6k, FD: $5.9k | vs. IND (Preferred if J. Butler sits again)

PG/SG Immanuel Quickley, NYK | DK: $5.3k, FD: $5.7k | vs. DET

SG/SF Nickeil Alexander-Walker, MIN | DK: $4.9k, FD: $4.4k | vs. UTA

PG/SG Brandin Podziemski, GSW | DK: $4.6k, FD: $4.5k | vs. LAC

Small Forwards/Power Forwards to Consider 🏀

PF/C Karl-Anthony Towns, MIN | DK: $8.8k, FD: $8.7k | vs. UTA

KAT is coming off of a couple of subpar performances but he has handled, by far, the largest usage increase (+7.22%) in 151 minutes with Anthony Edwards (hip/doubtful) off the court this season. Towns is shooting a very respectable 39.8% from three-point range this season and the Jazz continue to be without their highest-graded defender in Lauri Markkanen (hamstring/out), who is sidelined for a fourth consecutive game. We’ll look for KAT to get back on track now that he’s almost guaranteed to lead the Timberwolves in usage tonight.

PF/C Evan Mobley, CLE | DK: $7.8k, FD: $8.2k | vs. POR

I’m a big fan of the floor/ceiling combo that Mobley provides at a reasonable salary. He’s been particularly sharp in his 10 home games this season where he is comfortably averaging a double-double (16.0 PPG/12.6 RPG) to go along with 2.5 STL+BLK/gm and 3.3 APG. Mobley has only attempted nine three-pointers this season so nearly all of his shots are coming around the rim (65.4%) or elsewhere in the paint (32.0%). Portland is allowing the 4th most points in the paint per game and they’re also a poor rebounding team (25th in REB%). There is some blowout concern here with the Cavs being hefty -12 home favorites, but this looks like another double-double spot for Mobley and I’d expect him to rack up several blocks tonight -- Portland has allowed an NBA-high 7.5 opponent blocks per game. There are quite a few reasons why we’ve continuously targeted power forwards and centers against this Trailblazers squad and Mobley posted 49.5 DKFP/50.9 FDFP in the last meeting with Portland 15 days ago.

SF/SG Bogdan Bogdanovic, ATL | DK: $6k, FD: $6.1k | @ SAS

We’ll go back to this likely shootout between the Hawks and Spurs for an affordable small forward (also SG eligible on both sites) play. Jalen Johnson (wrist/out) has missed the last two games and I don’t believe it’s a coincidence that Bogdanovic has played 30+ minutes in each of those games. He typically plays around 26-28 minutes off of the Hawks bench, but the Johnson injury seems to have opened up some added minutes for Bogdanovic. Much of his value comes from his three-point shooting. Bogdanovic is attempting 8.1 threes per game and sinking 39.1% of those shots. San Antonio is allowing a 39.8% 3P% to their opponents this season, which is the second-highest mark in the NBA. It can be somewhat risky relying on a player whose value is largely dependent on their scoring, but Bogdanovic is in a great spot to come through tonight.

Other Forwards to Consider

PF/C Giannis Antetokounmpo, MIL | DK: $11.2k, FD: $11.8k | @ CHI

PF/C Julius Randle, NYK | DK: $8.9k, FD: $8.5k | vs. DET

PF/C Victor Wembanyama, SAS | DK: $8.7k, FD: $9k | vs. ATL (Wemby is currently questionable)

PF Kawhi Leonard, GSW | DK: $8.1k, FD: $8.5k | @ GSW

SF/PF Keldon Johnson, SAS | DK: $7k, FD: $7k | vs. ATL (Boost if Wemby sits)

SF/PF De’Andre Hunter, ATL | DK: $5.8k, FD: $5.5k | @ SAS

SF/PF Jaime Jaquez Jr., MIA | DK: $5.8k, FD: $6.3k | vs. IND

PF Saddiq Bey, ATL | DK: $5.5k, FD: $5.7k | @ SAS

SF/PF Simone Fontecchio, UTA | DK: $4.8k, FD: $4.2k | @ MIN

PF/C Naz Reid, MIN | DK: $4.5k, FD: $5.1k | vs. UTA

SF/PF Kyle Anderson, MIN | DK: $4.5k, FD: $5.6k | vs. UTA (DK Preferred - Boost if starting)

PF Jonathan Kuminga, GSW | DK: $4.5k, FD: $4.3k | vs. LAC

Centers to Consider 🏀

C Anthony Davis, LAL | DK: $10.2k, FD: $10.9k | @ OKC

I’m always a little wary of rolling out AD on the second leg of a back-to-back (AD: -21% less FPPG with no rest) but, at the same time, he played under 30 minutes in last night’s 133-107 blowout over the Pistons, so he should have plenty of gas left in the tank. The Thunder struggle to defend post-up players like Davis and they’re also 28th in rebounding%. Davis has gone for 60+ FP in two of his last three games and he’ll have strong potential for another 30+ point, 12+ rebound type of performance tonight. Davis can always go wild with the blocks/steals as well -- he’s averaging 3.9 STL+BLK/gm this season.

C Mitchell Robinson, NYK | DK: $5.4k, FD: $6.2k | vs. DET

We never truly know what we’re going to get out of Mitchell Robinson since his offensive usage is so low, but he is averaging 11.2 rebounds per game this season and he’s coming off of a six-block performance on Tuesday. Detroit is a quality rebounding team but they are allowing the sixth-most opponent blocks per game (6.5). Robinson is also averaging 1.4 steals/gm this season and the Pistons have given up the 3rd most steals per game (9.1). So, if you need a cheaper center play on this slate, Robinson could put up some strong peripheral stats tonight and push for 6x value.

Other Centers to Consider

C Bam Adebayo, MIA | DK: $9.5k, FD: $9.7k | vs. IND

C Chet Holmgren, OKC | DK: $7.9k, FD: $8.3k | vs. LAL

C Deandre Ayton, POR | DK: $7k, FD: $7.3k | @ CLE

C Jarrett Allen, CLE | DK: $6.6k, FD: $6.5k | vs. POR

C Nic Claxton, BKN | DK: $6.3k, FD: $7.7k | vs. CHA (DK Preferred)

C Brook Lopez, MIL | DK: $6k, FD: $7.4k | @ CHI (DK Preferred)

C Clint Capela, ATL | DK: $5.7k, FD: $6.1k | @ SAS

C Ivica Zubac, LAC | DK: $5.5k, FD: $6.2k | @ GSW
