DFS Main Slate Rundown 📰
After a one-day hiatus on Tuesday (due to Election Day), the NBA comes back and smacks us in the face with this absurdly large 14-game Wednesday slate. I’m with Tyler on this one and, as he said in the chat, 14-game slates should be illegal! Nonetheless, we’ll play the hand that we’re dealt and try to fish out some premiere plays in this vast sea of NBA chaos! Let’s get right to it. Best of luck!

Point Guards/Shooting Guards to Consider 🏀
PG LaMelo Ball, CHA | DK: $8.9k, FD: $8.8k | vs. WAS
After playing no more than 33 minutes over the first five games of the season, LaMelo shook off the light minutes restrictions this past Sunday, logging 39 minutes against the Mavs in a non-overtime game. He responded with a crafty 30-point triple-double and netted 71.5 DKFP/64.5 FDFP. Terry Rozier also sat out for the first time this season in that game. Rozier (groin) is out again tonight -- in 99 minutes without Rozier on the court this season, Ball has handled a +3.6% USG% boost along with a +13.02 FP (per-48 min) increase. We can’t exactly expect another triple-double out of him tonight, but it sure wouldn’t be a surprise as the Hornets take on a Wizards team that continues to play at the fastest pace in the NBA while ranking dead last in defensive rating. This game features the second-highest total on the slate (239 O/U) and the Hornets are slight -2.5 home favorites while owning the second-highest implied team total (120.8) on the evening. At a sub-$9k salary on both sites, Ball could easily outperform most/all of the top-tier guards that are priced ahead of him on this slate.
PG/SG Cam Thomas, BKN | DK: $7k, FD: $7.6k | vs. LAC
Thomas has been a certified shotmaker this season and is recently coming off of a season-high 45-point game against the Bucks where he hoisted 33 shot attempts (in regulation) while logging 41 minutes and scoring 59.0 DKFP/56.3 FDFP. The peripheral stats aren’t great for Thomas (4.0 RPG, 2.4 APG, 1.6 STL+BLK/gm) so the vast majority of his DFS value stems from pure scoring. It’s worth mentioning because an off-night shooting the ball would likely result in a disappointing DFS result. That said, Thomas has averaged 36.0 PPG and 49.0 DKFP/gm in three home games this season. His FG% has also been 52.6% at home versus 43.8% in four road games. Cameron Johnson and Nic Claxton appear to be getting healthier, but they’re both on G-League assignments and won’t return to NBA action just yet. That leaves Thomas as the clear-cut top scoring option for the Nets once again. It’s not the best match-up against a Clippers team that ranks 7th in defensive rating, but Thomas has fared well against tough defensive teams multiple times this season (e.g. Celtics & Cavs). He has also scored below 32.75 DKFP/32 FDFP just once in seven games this season, so the floor has generally been high, along with the ceiling. Realistically, he should be an $8k+ player, so we’ll continue to deploy him in lineups out of the $7k range on both sites.
PG Killian Hayes, DET | DK: $4.9k, FD: $5.4k | @ MIL
The most obvious value guard on the slate will be the Pelicans’ SG Jordan Hawkins (DK: $4.7k, FD: $4.3k), who is coming off of his best game of the season (49.25 DKFP/45.9 FDFP) and should continue to see big minutes and strong usage due to multiple key injuries (namely, Z. Williamson & CJ McCollum). Killian Hayes won’t be the sneakiest of options (around 7-10% ownership), but he should check in at much lower ownership (than Hawkins) and bring 40+ FP upside to the table. The Pistons are dealing with several injuries as well, particularly to their backcourt, which opens up the opportunity for high-30s minutes for Hayes. He has averaged 35.7 Min/gm and 0.94 FPPM over the last three games. The Pistons take on a Bucks team that has seen a steep drop off in their defensive prowess, ranking 24th in defensive rating this season… and Damian Lillard’s defensive effort has been (rightfully) criticized as well. Hayes should be guarded by Lillard for much of this game. I’m not against eating some Hawkins chalk, but Hayes should be on your radar as a slightly risky, but high-upside value guard play today as well.
Other Guards to Consider
PG Tyrese Haliburton, IND | DK: $9.8k, FD: $10k | vs. UTA
PG/SG Donovan Mitchell, CLE | DK: $9.6k, FD: $10.1k | @ OKC
SG/SF Anthony Edwards, MIN | DK: $8.8k, FD: $8.7k | vs. NOP
PG/SG Tyler Herro, MIA | DK: $8.3k, FD: $8.2k | @ MEM
PG/SG Malcolm Brogdon, POR | DK: $8.2k, FD: $7.9k | @ SAC
PG/SG Jordan Poole, WAS | DK: $7.4k, FD: $6.7k | @ CHA
SG/SF Austin Reaves, LAL | DK: $5.8k, FD: $6k | @ HOU (Bump if A. Davis is out)
PG Tyus Jones, WAS | DK: $5.6k, FD: $5.8k | @ CHA
SG Jordan Hawkins, NOP | DK: $4.7k, FD: $4.3k | @ MIN
PG Marcus Sasser, DET | DK: $4.5k, FD: $5.3k | @ MIL
SG Luke Kennard, MEM | DK: $4k, FD: $4.1k | vs. MIA
SG/SF Julian Strawther, DEN | DK: $3k, FD: $3.6k | vs. GSW
Small Forwards/Power Forwards to Consider 🏀
PF/C Giannis Antetokounmpo, MIL | DK: $10.5k, FD: $10.1k | vs. DET
We haven’t seen that massive, slate-breaking performance out of the Greek Freak yet, but he is coming off of a season-high 36-point game where he procured 62.0 DKFP/60.9 FDFP. And, while the acquisition of Damian Lillard has clearly affected his general upside, Giannis’ 33.9% USG% still leads all forwards on this slate. He has also handled a +2.3% usage increase with Khris Middleton (knee/out) off the court this season. Middleton has seen a heavy minutes restriction all season but this will be just the second game he’ll miss entirely. There are some legitimate blowout concerns for Giannis and the Bucks tonight, as they check in as slate-leading -12.5 home favorites. The Bucks are also one of just two teams on today’s slate that is on the front end of a back-to-back. But if the Pistons keep things close, Giannis could turn in another 60+ FP performance and, now that he’s priced “down” well into the $10k range, we’ll happily take that sort of potential.
SF/PF Gordon Hayward, CHA | DK: $6.6k, FD: $6.9k | vs. WAS
Hayward stands out as an enticing option out of the mid-range today and is averaging a respectable 1.12 FPPM on the season. While it isn’t a massive sample size, in 43.8 minutes with Terry Rozier (groin/out) off the court this season, Hayward’s usage rate has spiked by +8.8%. He should be second only to LaMelo Ball in team usage this evening. Hayward is also providing strong peripheral stats this season with 5.3 APG, 5.7 RPG, and 2.1 STL+BLK/gm. As mentioned in Ball’s spotlight (and in plenty of other newsletters this season), the Wizards remain arguably the best match-up to target thanks to their NBA-leading pace of play and NBA-worst defensive rating. Hayward should provide a rock-solid floor and 40+ FP upside as a sub-$7k salary on both sites today.
SF/PF Jae Crowder, MIL | DK: $3.9k, FD: $4.2k | vs. DET
Crowder started in place of Khris Middleton (knee/out) when he sat out the second game of the season so, the expectation would be for Crowder to re-enter the starting rotation tonight. Crowder has averaged a respectable 0.80 FPPM so he’ll be a strong bet to return some value, assuming he plays around 28-32 minutes tonight. He won’t be a high-usage player while sharing the court with Giannis and Dame, but he is lighting it up from three-point range this season (52.0% 3P%), and, for the price, he offers some quality peripheral upside.
Other Forwards to Consider
SF/PF Jayson Tatum, BOS | DK: $10.3k, FD: $10k | @ PHI
SF/PG LeBron James, LAL | DK: $9.5k, FD: $9.8k | @ HOU (Bump if A. Davis is out)
SF/PG Scottie Barnes, TOR | DK: $8.9k, FD: $9.5k | @ DAL
PF/C Julius Randle, NYK | DK: $8.1k, FD: $7.8k | vs. SAS
SF/PF Mikal Bridges, BKN | DK: $7.6k, FD: $7.6k | vs. LAC
PF Kyle Kuzma, WAS | DK: $7.5k, FD: $7.6k | @ CHA
SF/PF Ausar Thompson, DET | DK: $6.9k, FD: $7k | @ MIL
PF/C John Collins, UTA | DK: $6k, FD: $6.2k | @ IND
PF/C Naz Reid, MIN | DK: $4.6k, FD: $5.5k | vs. NOP (DK Preferred)
SF Jaden McDaniels, MIN | DK: $4.2k, FD: $4.7k | vs. NOP
Centers to Consider 🏀
C Nikola Jokic, DEN | DK: $11.7k, FD: $12.1k | vs. GSW
Note: Jokic (wrist) is officially “probable” tonight.
Perhaps it’s too early to say definitively, but it does appear as if Jokic’s positive home splits are carrying over into this season. In five home games, Jokic is averaging a ridiculous 70.4 DKFP/gm, compared to 47.8 DKFP/gm in three road games. The Nuggets will also be without PG Jamal Murray for a second consecutive game. With Murray out for the first time this season on Monday, Jokic stepped up with a 35-point, 14-rebound, 12-assist triple-double and dropped 79.0 DKFP/73.8 FDFP on the Pelicans. Jokic has seen only a slight +0.87% USG% boost in 115.5 minutes with Murray off the floor this season, but his peripherals have really taken off (without Murray on the court), resulting in a +13.7 FP per-48 minute increase. The Nuggets welcome the Warriors into town so this should be a competitive game where Jokic is his usual do-it-all self.
C Kelly Olynyk, UTA | DK: $4.5k, FD: $4.4k | @ IND
With C Walker Kessler (elbow/doubtful) poised to miss his first game of the season, Kelly O should line up for a spot start tonight. Olynyk has played exclusively off of the bench this season but he is averaging a sturdy 1.10 FPPM while shooting 69.6% from 2PT range and 46.7% from three. This game also boasts a slate-high 242 over/under between two teams that rank top-10 in pace and bottom-5 in defensive rating. If Olynyk flirts with 30 minutes tonight, he should quite easily return value on these mid-$4k DFS salaries.
Other Centers to Consider
C Joel Embiid, PHI | DK: $11k, FD: $11.9k | vs. BOS
C Bam Adebayo, MIA | DK: $8.2k, FD: $8k | @ MEM
C Alperen Sengun, HOU | DK: $7.9k, FD: $8.2k | vs. LAL
C Myles Turner, IND | DK: $7k, FD: $7.6k | vs. UTA
C Mark Williams, CHA | DK: $6.1k, FD: $6.4k | vs. WAS
C Daniel Gafford, WAS | DK: $4.9k, FD: $5.3k | @ CHA
PF/C Jalen Smith, IND | DK: $4.1k, FD: $4.5k | vs. UTA
