DFS Main Slate Rundown 📰

A modest five-game NBA slate lands on the Tuesday docket! This small slate packs a big punch with plenty of star power on the board so it should be a fun one. The approach for the slate will change considerably pending further news on the health/availability of multiple key Mavericks players. The statuses of the NBA Cup champion Lakers will also need to be monitored, primarily concerning the availability of AD and LeBron, both questionable. With games not tipping off until 7:30 ET, we will have some additional time to iron out our lineups and prop bets, but just know that this is a day where you’ll really need to track those key injuries! Best of luck!

Point Guards/Shooting Guards to Consider 🏀

PG De’Aaron Fox, SAC | DK: $9.6k, FD: $10.2k | @ LAC

There are plenty of superstar guards to choose from at the top of pricing today so it’s tough to spotlight just one. De’Aaron Fox sets up as a wise choice for today’s slate. He has racked up at least 52.25 DKFP/49.5 FDFP in five of his previous seven starts, including a pair of 65.5+ DKFP/63.4+ FDFP performances. This game boasts a slate-high 235.5 over/under with the Clippers stepping in as three-point home favorites. Both teams are on the second leg of a back-to-back, but the Kings did have a fairly comfortable win last night, and Fox didn’t need to play massive minutes (33 min.). Fox went for 40 real points when these teams met at the end of November, and we’ll look for another stud performance from him tonight.

PG Coby White, CHI | DK: $7.2k, FD: $7.3k | vs. DEN

White has stepped up in a big way over the last five games in which Zach LaVine (foot/out) has been sidelined. In that span, White has averaged 45.9 DKFP/42.9 FDFP per game while playing obscene minutes (41.4 Min/gm). Two of the Bulls’ last five games have gone into overtime, including last night’s clash with the Bucks. White played 45 minutes in yesterday’s OT loss, which is cause for concern on the second leg of the B2B. So, it could be a letdown spot for White and some other Bulls starters, especially with the defending NBA champs coming to town. The Bulls are +7.5 home underdogs and own a slate-low 106.3 implied total. That said, if White ends up playing his usual minutes, he’ll have a great chance to return value on his low-$7k salaries.

PG/SF Dante Exum, DAL | DK: $5.7k, FD: $6.1k | vs. LAL

Regardless of how the Mavs’ questionable designations shake out (Doncic, THJ, D. Jones Jr.), Exum is going to be a strong, yet very popular, DFS play at his current salaries. Due to other injuries to the Dallas rotation, Exum has operated out of the starting rotation in each of the previous three games. In those games, he is averaging 1.11 FPPM and 34.7 DKFP/34.7 FDFP per game. The Lakers rank 6th in defensive rating but they have been a better match-up when playing on the road this season and both teams in this game rank top 10 in pace. Exum’s ceiling will really open up if Luka Doncic (back/questionable) is ruled out, but he’s a fine play either way.

Other Guards to Consider

PG Luka Doncic, DAL | DK: $11.8k, FD: $12.4k | vs. LAL (Currently questionable)

PG/SG Stephen Curry, GSW | DK: $9.5k, FD: $8.9k | @ PHX (FD Preferred)

PG James Harden, LAC | DK: $7.8k, FD: $8k | vs. SAC

PG/SG Derrick White, BOS | DK: $6.4k, FD: $7.2k | vs. CLE (DK Preferred)

SG/SF Klay Thompson, GSW | DK: $6.4k, FD: $5.8k | @ PHX (FD Preferred)

PG/SG Malik Monk, SAC | DK: $6.1k, FD: $5.6k | @ LAC

SG/SF Austin Reaves, LAL | DK: $5.8k, FD: $6.4k | @ DAL (Bump if either AD or LeBron sit)

PG/SG Jaden Hardy, DAL | DK: $4.6k, FD: $4.3k | vs. LAL (Better play pending further DAL injury news)

Small Forwards/Power Forwards to Consider 🏀

PF/C Anthony Davis, LAL | DK: $9.8k, FD: $11.3k | @ DAL (DK Preferred)

Davis (groin/hip/questionable) is finally PF-eligible on both sites, which is great news for his roster flexibility. He put up a dominant showing in the NBA Cup Final with 41 points, 20 rebounds, five assists, and four blocks. For whatever reason, DraftKings still has him priced under $10k despite the fact that Davis has gone for at least 50.75 DKFP in six consecutive games. He’s gone below 49.5 DKFP in just six out of 23 games played this season. The Mavs are often a prime match-up for opposing bigs. They rank 22nd in points in the paint allowed per game and 26th in rebounding percentage. As long as he’s active tonight, Davis will be a priority play on DraftKings -- more of a GPP play on FanDuel where he is much more appropriately priced.

PF/SF Kawhi Leonard, LAC | DK: $8k, FD: $8.7k | vs. SAC

How do we feel about Kawhi on the back-to-back? Leonard logged 39 minutes in a tight victory over Portland last night so there are some fatigue concerns. Perhaps he’ll be a smart fade but on a day where there is not an abundance of appeal at either forward position (pending further injury news), it’s going to be tough to ignore the run that Leonard has been on and the upside he can provide. He’s coming off of back-to-back 55+ FP games and has four 50+ FP games within his last seven. One of those huge outings came against this same Kings team back on November 29th where Leonard poured in a 34/9/3 line with two blocks and a steal (56.75 DKFP/58.3 FDFP). We’re expecting a high-scoring, competitive atmosphere in this showdown tonight and, were it not for the back-to-back factor, Leonard would be a stress-free play, particularly at his flat $8k DK salary. At the very least, I don’t see Leonard burning lineups tonight so he should stay in the player pool.

SF/SG Sam Hauser, BOS | DK: $4.3k, FD: $4.2k | vs. CLE

Until some further injury news is known, particularly with the Mavericks, there aren’t many cheap forwards we can trust. Hauser may be an exception and is under $4,500 on both sites. He went 0-for-5 in his last game but Hauser is still playing strong minutes off of the Celtics bench and could easily bounce back tonight. In the four games prior to last Friday, Hauser had scored at least 22.0 DKFP/19.8 FDFP while playing between 21 and 32 minutes. On the season, he is averaging a respectable 0.80 FPPM, which has increased a bit to 0.87 FPPM at home. It’s not an ideal match-up against the Cavs, who rank 7th in DEFRTG and 17th in pace, but they are softer against opposing bench units (23rd vs. reserves L20Games). It’s far from a smash play but, if ya need some value, there are much less appealing cheap forwards than Hauser on this slate.

Other Forwards to Consider

SP/PF Jayson Tatum, BOS | DK: $9.9k, FD: $9.8k | vs. CLE

SF/PF LeBron James, LAL | DK: $9.7k, FD: $10.1k | @ DAL (Currently questionable)

SF/PF DeMar DeRozan, CHI | DK: $8.2k, FD: $8.4k | vs. DEN

PF/C Draymond Green, GSW | DK: $6.9k, FD: $7k | @ PHX

SF/PF Patrick Williams, CHI | DK: $5.7k, FD: $5.7k | vs. DEN

PF/C Dario Saric, GSW | DK: $5.3k, FD: $5.4k | @ PHX

PF Rui Hachimura, LAL | DK: $4.1k, FD: $3.9k | @ DAL (Preferred if AD and/or LeBron sit)

SF/PF Olivier-Maxence Prosper, DAL | DK: $3.7k, FD: $3.8k | vs. LAL (Better play pending further DAL injury news)

SF/SG Julian Strawther, DEN | DK: $3.5k, FD: $3.7k | @ CHI (Risky, but could build off last night’s performance)

PF/C Markieff Morris, DAL | DK: $3k, FD: $3.7k | vs. LAL (Better play pending further DAL injury news)

Centers to Consider 🏀

C Nikola Jokic, DEN | DK: $11.9k, FD: $12.3k | @ CHI

I’d much rather target Jokic when he’s at home where he has averaged 68.3 DKFP/gm, versus 61.5 DKFP/gm on the road… and the Nuggets are also on the back end of a B2B. But we’ve got a small slate here so it would be unwise to completely nix the biggest stud available. It’s also a nice match-up for Jokic as the Bulls rank 26th against starting centers over their last 20 games. When Jokic faced the Bulls earlier this season (at home), he put up a 28/16/9 line with three steals and 69.0 DKFP/68.7 FDFP. The Bulls are also dealing with the back-to-back factor as well, and their starters logged very heavy minutes in last night’s overtime loss to Milwaukee. Barring an injury or ejection, Jokic provides the highest floor on this slate and, while you never know when those 70 to 80+ FP games are going to come through, that’s always a possibility with Jokic on any given night.

C Dereck Lively II, DAL | DK: $5.6k, FD: $6.1k | vs. LAL

Lively is going to have to contend with Anthony Davis tonight (assuming he plays) but the depleted Mavs are also going to need his size, so the minutes should be there. Lively played 35 minutes yesterday and came away with 40.5 DKFP/37.2 FDFP. The rookie has displayed some inconsistent play this season but his ceiling is excellent when he’s given traditional starter’s minutes -- the best example would be the 56.5 DKFP/61.2 FDFP score that Lively dropped on OKC eight days ago (he played a season-high 39 minutes in that game). The Lakers are also giving up 36.3 FPPG to starting centers so it’s not exactly a poor match-up.

Other Centers to Consider

PF/C Kristaps Porzingis, BOS | DK: $7.5k, FD: $7.8k | vs. CLE

C Jarrett Allen, CLE | DK: $6.7k, FD: $6.9k | @ BOS

C Ivica Zubac, LAC | DK: $6.2k, FD: $6.8k | vs. SAC

C Jarred Vanderbilt, LAL | DK: $3.7k, FD: $4.1k | @ DAL (Only if AD is out -- Vanderbilt is also questionable)
