Among the most crucial teams with key “questionable” players include the Pelicans (Zion), Lakers (AD/LeBron -- I have a feeling at least one of these guys might actually sit out on the B2B), and Grizzlies (D. Main Slate Match-Ups w/ Game Totals & Point Spreads

Top DraftKings & FanDuel DFS Plays

Note: NBA position designations are never going to perfectly align between the major DFS sites. For the purposes of these newsletters, positional designations will default to DraftKings.

Point Guards/Shooting Guards to Consider 🏀

PG/SG Terry Rozier, CHA | DK: $8.5k, FD: $8.6k | @ MIA

There are safer guards to spend up on today but Rozier is cooking lately while LaMelo Ball (ankle/out) remains sidelined. Over the previous five games, Rozier is averaging a robust 1.37 FPPM, 38.9 Min/gm, 28.0 PPG, 10.6 APG, and 53.4 DKFP/50.5 FDFP. He has dished out exactly 13 assists in three of those games and most recently popped off against this same Heat team for 60.0 DKFP/52.9 FDFP on Monday. The Hornets will be on the road this time but Rozier has not shown any significant home/road splits this season. Miami is a slow-paced team (25th in pace) but their defense is nothing special (14th DEFRTG) and they take an additional hit on the defensive side without center Bam Adebayo (hip/out) available for the fifth consecutive game. Despite his recent uptick in production, Rozier should not be highly owned on this slate so he’s a great option if you’re looking to get a little different.

PG CJ McCollum, NOP | DK: $7.4k, FD: $8.2k | @ WAS

The Pelicans face off with the worst defensive team in the NBA that also plays at the second fastest pace and yet DraftKings decided to give all of the key plays a price… decrease? Alrighty then. McCollum has been solid since returning from a 12-game absence due to a collapsed lung. He has put up at least 38.5 DKFP/38.8 FDFP in four of the five games played since his return while peaking at 38 minutes played, so there are no concerns over any sort of minute restrictions. It’s also worth noting that Zion Williamson (ankle) is questionable to play today. If Williamson sits, that will only bolster McCollum’s ceiling. In 124 minutes played with Zion off the floor this season, McCollum has seen a significant, team-leading +7.4% usage boost. He looks like a great play on DraftKings regardless of Zion’s availability. On FanDuel, I’d prefer to play him only if Zion is out.

SG/SF Austin Reaves, LAL | DK: $6.5k, FD: $6.4k | @ SAS

Vegas lines aren’t everything, but it is hard to look past the fact that the Lakers are just three-point favorites against a Spurs team that hasn’t won a game since November 2nd. What that leads me to believe is that one or both of LeBron James and Anthony Davis (both questionable) will be sitting out tonight. If that is the case, there will be some major value to be had on the Lakers. Reaves is playable even if both of the superstars suit up, but he’d be a priority play if one (or both) sit. It’s a small sample size, but in 52.2 minutes played with AD and LeBron off the court, Reaves has seen a +9.0% usage boost and +18.0 fantasy points per 48-minute average. Reaves has been great off of the bench lately, averaging 21.0 PPG, 4.4 RPG, and 4.2 APG over his last five games -- good for 34.6 DKFP/33.2 FDFP per game. This is a bad Spurs defense (25th DEFRTG) so the key Lakers who do end up playing will be in a terrific spot. This is an 8 o’clock ET tip-off so we may not know AD and LeBron’s statuses until after the initial games lock so be prepared to make some late swap adjustments pending further news.

Other Guards to Consider

PG Tyrese Haliburton, IND | DK: $11.1k, FD: $11k | @ MIL

PG Damian Lillard, MIL | DK: $9.6k, FD: $9.1k | vs. IND

PG Tyrese Maxey, PHI | DK: $9.1k, FD: $9k | @ DET

PG Jalen Brunson, NYK | DK: $8.2k, FD: $7.8k | @ UTA

PG D’Angelo Russell, LAL | DK: $6.9k, FD: $6.6k | @ SAS (Preferred if AD/LeBron sit)

SG/SF Caleb Martin, MIA | DK: $6.4k, FD: $6.5k | vs. CHA

PG/SG De’Anthony Melton, PHI | DK: $6.3k, FD: $6.5k | @ DET

PG Dennis Schroder, TOR | DK: $6k, FD: $6.3k | vs. ATL

SG/SF Duncan Robinson, MIA | DK: $6k, FD: $5.7k | vs. CHA

SG OG Anunoby, TOR | DK: $5.8k, FD: $6.3k | vs. ATL

SG/SF Benedict Mathurin, IND | DK: $5.5k, FD: $5.5k | @ MIL

SG Malik Beasley, MIL | DK: $5.4k, FD: $5.6k | vs. IND

SG/SF Trey Murphy III, NOP | DK: $5.2k, FD: $4.9k | @ WAS (Boost if Zion sits)

PG Patrick Beverly, PHI | DK: $4k, FD: $4.1k | @ DET

Small Forwards/Power Forwards to Consider 🏀

PF/C Giannis Antetokounmpo, MIL | DK: $11.4k, FD: $12k | vs. IND

It would be an understatement to say that this is a great spot for Giannis tonight. The Pacers have been an all-around excellent team to target thanks to their league-high pace of play and poor defense (28th in DEFRTG). The best part is that the Pacers are an elite offensive team themselves (1st in OFFRTG) so they tend to avoid blowouts when playing against other quality teams, like the Bucks. The Greek Freak is expensive but he brings a top-notch floor/ceiling combo into play tonight. He has scored no fewer than 57.5 DKFP/57 FDFP in seven consecutive games and the Bucks may want a little revenge after the Pacers knocked them out in the In-Season Tournament semifinals last Thursday. Let’s also not forget to mention that this game has an absurd 258 over/under -- easily the highest total on the slate.

SF/SG Khris Middleton, MIL | DK: $6.5k, FD: $6.6k vs. IND

We’ll go from one Buck to another in this juicy match-up. Middleton has largely been restricted to low-to-mid 20s minutes after coming into the season off of a serious knee injury. However, in the last two games, he has reached season-highs in minutes played with 30 minutes last Thursday and 33 minutes on Monday (though, that game did go into OT). In those games, Middleton posted 38.75 DKFP/36.4 FDFP (vs. IND) and 39.75 DKFP/36.6 FDFP (vs. CHI). He is averaging a strong 1.19 FPPM this season so if he’s going to start seeing 30+ minutes on a routine basis, we’ll want some Middleton shares while he remains priced out of the mid-$6k range. When playing with no restrictions, Middleton is much closer to a $7k-$8k type of player.

PF/C Kevin Love, MIA | DK: $5.2k, FD: $5.7k | vs. CHA

Pending further injury news, there are very few “safe” value options to point out. K-Love isn’t dirt cheap, but he’ll make sense out of the $5k range today. He’s not going to handle 30+ minutes at this stage in his career but he is still highly productive on a per-minute basis when he’s on the floor. His last two games have been particularly strong -- he put up 32.0 DKFP/30.7 FDFP in just 21 minutes off the bench against this same Hornets team on Monday, and 40.5 DKFP/37.9 FDFP against his former team, the Cavaliers, across 28 minutes last Friday. Love has also averaged +53.5% more FPPG at home this season along with a stellar 1.29 FPPM. Miami is dealing with some injuries to four rotational players, including two of their bigs (Adebayo & Highsmith, both out) so hopefully we’ll get around 24 minutes out of Love off of the bench tonight. If that’s the case, it would be plenty of time for Love to stuff the stat sheet and return value.

Other Forwards to Consider

PF/C Anthony Davis, LAL | DK: $10k, FD: $11.4k | @ SAS (DK Preferred -- if he even plays)

PF/C Victor Wembanyama, SAS | DK: $8.8k, FD: $9.9k | vs. LAL (DK Preferred)

PF/C Julius Randle, NYK | DK: $8.6k, FD: $8.5k | @ UTA

SF/PG Scottie Barnes, TOR | DK: $8.6k, FD: $8.9k | vs. ATL

SF/SG Brandon Ingram, NOP | DK: $7.8k, FD: $7.8k | @ WAS (Boost if Zion sits)

SF/PF Gordon Hayward, CHA | DK: $6.4k, FD: $6.9k | @ MIA

SF/PF RJ Barrett, NYK | DK: $6.1k, FD: $6.3k | @ UTA

SF/PF Herbert Jones, NOP | DK: $5.5k, FD: $5.8k | @ WAS (Boost if Zion sits)

SF/PF Josh Hart, NYK | DK: $5k, FD: $5.5k | @ UTA

PF Rui Hachimura, LAL | DK: $4.9k, FD: $4.2k | @ SAS (Pending AD/LeBron news)

SF Taurean Prince, LAL | DK: $4.5k, FD: $4.3k | @ SAS (Pending AD/LeBron news)

Centers to Consider 🏀

C Joel Embiid, PHI | DK: $11.8k, FD: $12.6k | @ DET

Unless we’re counting the PF/C eligible guys, Embiid is the lone true stud at the center position today. This is a smash spot for Embiid (DET: 29th vs. Centers L20Games) but the problem is that this is likely going to be a blowout. The Pistons (+12 home underdogs) have lost 20 games in a row and are just a terrible excuse for a professional basketball team. They’ll also be without rim protector Jalen Duren and backup center Marvin Bagley III. However, if Detroit can keep this close into the fourth quarter, Embiid is going to bring slate-breaking 70+ FP upside to the table… and he could easily be < 10% owned on both sites tonight.

C Isaiah Hartenstein, NYK | DK: $5k, FD: $6k | @ UTA

Mitchell Robinson (ankle/out) is looking at missing multiple months. In Robinson’s first absence of the season on Monday, the Knicks chose to start Jericho Sims at center while keeping Hartenstein in his bench role. However, Hartenstein still handled increased minutes. He logged 27 minutes against the Raptors on Monday and returned 29.0 DKFP/30.6 FDFP. He’s averaging 1.04 FPPM over his last five games and draws a better match-up against the Jazz tonight. If he continues to play close to 30 minutes off of the bench, Hartenstein still makes plenty of sense at his current DFS salaries.

Other Centers to Consider

PF/C Pascal Siakam, TOR | DK: $8.1k, FD: $8k | vs. ATL

PF/C Jaren Jackson Jr., MEM | DK: $8k, FD: $8.3k | @ HOU (Preferred if D. Bane sits)

C Myles Turner, IND | DK: $7.3k, FD: $7.7k | @ MIL

C Jonas Valanciunas, NOP | DK: $6.7k, FD: $6.6k | @ WAS (Boost if Zion sits)

C Brook Lopez, IND | DK: $6.4k, FD: $7.1k | vs. IND

C Jaxon Hayes, LAL | DK: $4k, FD: $3.6k | @ SAS (Pending AD/LeBron news -- mainly AD)
