DFS Main Slate Rundown 📰
Another mid-sized seven-game slate is on tap this Tuesday! Unlike yesterday, there are no discrepancies between the DraftKings and FanDuel slates, as far as game selection goes. Also, unlike yesterday, today’s injury report is a complete mess with a heap of impactful players being listed as “questionable”. For essentially any NBA slate, it is recommended to be available throughout the evening in case some last-minute lineup adjustments are needed or late swap advantages arise due to injury news. However, that will be especially encouraged today. This one’s gonna be a doozy so let’s lock in. Best of luck!

Top DraftKings & FanDuel DFS Plays
Note: NBA position designations are never going to perfectly align between the major DFS sites. For the purposes of these newsletters, positional designations will default to DraftKings.
Point Guards/Shooting Guards to Consider 🏀
PG/SG Devin Booker, PHX | DK: $9k, FD: $9.4k | at ATL
The Suns moved Bradley Beal to the bench five games ago and the immediate results seem to support that as a savvy move. Phoenix has won four of these last five games, and it has also given a chance for Devin Booker to have more control of the offense. He has seen his assist opportunities and assist rate rise drastically in this span, averaging 8.8 APG L5Games to go along with 26.6 PPG on a 29.6% USG%. The Suns (23rd in pace) will receive a significant pace-up boost versus the Hawks (3rd in pace). Atlanta has also ranked dead last versus starting backcourts (PGs & SGs) this season. These two teams just faced each other five days ago and Booker supplied a solid 20/12 points/assists double-double and, it’s worth noting, that he shot an uncharacteristically poor 0-for-8 from three-point range in that game, so the final result certainly could’ve been better. I’d like this overall game atmosphere more if Trae Young (Achilles/illness/questionable) is able to suit up but, regardless of Young’s availability, Booker is looking like an enticing high-end guard play on this slate.

PG De’Aaron Fox, SAC | DK: $8.3k, FD: $8.8k | at MIL
Fox returned from a three-game injury absence on Sunday and looked no worse for the wear, supplying a 26/9/3 stat line across 33 minutes versus the Bulls. Considering that the previous game was a close five-point win and Fox has averaged just over 37 minutes per game this season, he may have been working under very light minute restrictions, but those may be lifted heading into tonight’s game (if they even existed, to begin with). The Kings will be without PG/SG Malik Monk (groin/out) tonight. Monk began the season in his usual sixth-man role off of the bench but his level of play forced the coaching staff’s hand and he had since started the Kings’ previous 19 games. Monk tends to take on a fairly high usage rate and has averaged 20 FGA/gm L5Games (three games, of course, were w/o Fox available). So, Fox will be a primary candidate to pick up some additional usage tonight in Monk’s absence. Monk previously missed a seven-game stretch earlier this season and, even though he was playing off of the bench at that time, there were a few games in that span where De’Aaron Fox exploded -- notably, he had back-to-back performances where he dropped 60 points (11/15 vs. MIN) and 49 points (11/16 vs. UTA). The Bucks are allowing the 2nd most FPPG to starting PGs L20Games so there are no issues with the match-up. This game also has a close 2.5-point spread so we should expect starters on both sides to play heavy minutes.
PG TJ McConnell, IND | DK: $4.7k, FD: $5.5k | vs. CLE
It’s looking like Tyrese Haliburton (hamstring/doubtful) will be in line to miss his first game of the season tonight. That’s going to make TJ McConnell a very enticing value option on this slate. While it’s likely he’ll continue to play off of the bench, McConnell (19.3 Min/gm this season) should have a chance to play closer to 24-28 minutes tonight. McConnell has averaged an excellent 1.17 FPPM on the season and you can scroll back through his game logs to see that when he has previously played mid-20s minutes, he has typically turned in 30+ FP performances. And he had plenty of big games when Haliburton was sidelined last season.
Other Guards to Consider
PG Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, OKC at PHI
PG Dejounte Murray, NOP at CHI
PG Josh Giddey, CHI vs. NOP (Boost if C. White is out)
PG/SG Dyson Daniels, ATL vs. PHX (Boost if T. Young and/or B. Bogdanovic are out)
PG Russell Westbrook, DEN at DAL
PG Anfernee Simons, POR vs. BKN (Boost if D. Avdija is out)
PG/SG Shaedon Sharpe, POR vs. BKN (Boost if D. Avdija is out)
PG/SG Andrew Nembhard, IND vs. CLE
SG Keon Ellis, SAC at MIL
PG/SG Cason Wallace, OKC at PHI
PG/SG Vit Krejci, ATL vs. PHX (Boost if T. Young and/or B. Bogdanovic are out)
SG/SF Ben Sheppard, IND vs. CLE (Preferred if starting)
PG/SG Devin Carter, SAC at MIL
Small Forwards/Power Forwards to Consider 🏀
PF/C Evan Mobley, CLE | DK: $8.2k, FD: $8.5k | at IND
I’m not married to the idea of spending the big bucks at forward today but Evan Mobley is almost always going to be on the GPP radar for me. He’s constantly going under 10% ownership despite having ample 50+ FP upside in the tank. Mobley is not the most consistent DFS asset, hence his routine low ownership, but when he gets going, he goes. Mobley has poured in 1.40 FPPM over his L5Games and if he ends up playing mid-30s minutes tonight, I fully expect him to end up with a huge game. Both teams in this game rank top-eight in pace and Indiana checks in at 22nd versus starting PFs this season.

SF/SG Bennedict Mathurin, IND | DK: $5.8k, FD: $6k | vs. CLE
Mathurin was a hot DFS commodity earlier in the season but DFS pricing inevitably caught up to his production and he has also been much more inconsistent over the last couple of months. He has still flashed some quality upside, relative to his current price points, and, most notably, he has handled a team-leading +4.8% USG% increase with Tyrese Haliburton off the floor this season. I don’t have high hopes for the Pacers knocking off the 33-5 Cavs for the second time in three days, but Mathurin should put up plenty of shots tonight and, if the Pacers keep this game close, Mathurin will likely be a major reason why. The Cavs have also allowed the 6th most FPPG to SF starters L20Games.
PF/C Oso Ighodaro, PHX | DK: $3.5k, FD: $4.1k | at ATL
We should have more value options to choose from once further injury news is made known but, for now, Oso Ighodaro isn’t looking like a bad cheapie. He should have a chance to soak up more minutes with center Jusuf Nurkic out, and he most recently logged 30 minutes in the Suns’ last game on Sunday versus the Hornets -- worth noting, while he played off of the bench, Ighodaro closed the game with the starters in the fourth quarter. He’s averaging a pedestrian 0.77 FPPM L5Games but if he works his way to 25-30 minutes again tonight, he should do enough to return some value against the fast-paced Hawks.
Other Forwards to Consider
PF/C Giannis Antetokounmpo, MIL vs. SAC
PF/C Kevin Durant, PHX at ATL
SF/SG Zach LaVine, CHI vs. NOP (Boost if C. White is out)
SF/SG Paul George, PHI vs. OKC (Boost if. T. Maxey is out)
PF Pascal Siakam, IND vs. CLE
SF/PF Deni Avdija, POR vs. BKN (Currently questionable)
PF Keegan Murray, SAC at MIL
SF Toumani Camara, POR vs. BKN
SF/SG Luguentz Dort, OKC at PHI
PF Peyton Watson, DEN at DAL
PF/C Trey Lyles, SAC at MIL
SF/SG Kevin Huerter, SAC at MIL
SF/PF Jarace Walker, IND vs. CLE
Centers to Consider 🏀
C Nikola Jokic, DEN | DK: $12.2k, FD: $12.9k | at DAL
No surprise here. Jokic is, once again, the clear-cut pay-up option today. He heads into tonight’s game averaging 33.0 PPG, 13.8 RPG, 11.3 APG, and 2.8 STL+BLK/gm over his last eight contests. He has also smashed in three previous match-ups with the Mavericks this season, averaging a 29.7/17.7/11.3 stat line in those games. He’s still popping up on the injury report due to an illness that held him out for a couple of games last week but he has played each of the last two games and his “probable” status tells us that he should be all systems go tonight.
C Onyeka Okongwu, ATL | DK: $4.5k, FD: $5.2k | vs. PHX
It looks like Clint Capela (DK: 4.9k, FD: $5.5k) may be somewhat popular today, according to the pOwn% (27% on DK, 19% on FD). While I don’t hate that play, I wouldn’t be opposed to pivoting to Okongwu at lower ownership either. As usual, Capela and Okongwu split the center minutes for the Hawks fairly evenly. Okongwu has been the more consistent player of late, averaging a sharp 1.12 FPPM L5Games. And the Suns check in at 29th versus reserve centers L20Games. Either way, Okogwu sets up as a fairly solid floor play at these DFS salaries, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he pops for a 30-35 FP type of performance.
Other Centers to Consider
C Domantas Sabonis, SAC at MIL
C Nikola Vucevic, CHI vs. NOP
C Myles Turner, IND vs. CLE
C Deandre Ayton, POR vs. BKN
C Dereck Lively II, DAL vs. DEN
C Clint Capela, ATL vs. PHX
C Jalen Smith, CHI vs. NOP
C Daniel Theis, NOP at CHI
