DFS Main Slate Rundown 📰

Tuesday will set us up with a modest five-game main slate! Both DraftKings and FanDuel have elected to exclude the Nuggets/Kings game, which has the very late 11 p.m. ET tip-off. We’ve got a few intriguing matchups, as well as a couple of potential blowouts, and four of the five games will carry totals north of 231 points. Aside from the Pacers, who continue to play shorthanded, the injury report doesn’t feature a huge number of impact players, but there are still a few situations where some absences, or potential absences, will have a domino effect on some rotations. Let’s jump in! Best of luck!

Point Guards/Shooting Guards to Consider 🏀

PG Tyrese Maxey, PHI | DK: $10.3k, FD: $10k | vs. BOS

Maxey has played some MVP-caliber ball through the first three weeks of the season, and he’ll be the primary focal point of the offense once again with Joel Embiid sitting out and Paul George yet to make his season debut. Maxey’s usage rate has gone from 26.5% with Embiid on the floor to 33.1% with him off. He’s also handling the heaviest workload of any player in the league, averaging 41.1 minutes/gm. Maxey has lit Boston up for 60+ DKFP twice already this season, so it’s tough to knock the matchup, and this game also has the slimmest spread on the slate (PHI +1.5).

PG/SG Keyonte George, UTA | DK: $7.1k, FD: $7.1k | vs. IND

George has taken a big leap in Year 3, averaging nearly 40 DKFP/gm across 34 minutes a night while shooting a career-best 43.8% from the field. His 26.7% USG% trails only Lauri Markkanen on the Jazz, and his $7,100 price tag on both sites makes him an appealing mid-range target. This is a decent pace-up spot for the Jazz, and both teams in this matchup are in the top half of the NBA in offensive tempo. This is also another game that should stay competitive, based on the 2.5-point spread in favor of the Pacers.

PG Ajay Mitchell, OKC | DK: $6.3k, FD: $6k | vs. GSW

With Lu Dort out for a fourth straight game and Aaron Wiggins out for a third consecutive game, Ajay Mitchell remains an appealing value play as an interim starter, even in a tougher matchup against the Warriors (7th in DEFRTG, 20th in pace). Mitchell has started the past three with Dort out, averaging 40.1 DKFP/gm in 31.7 minutes while posting a steady 22.6% usage rate. He’s averaging 1.23 FPPM with Dort and Wiggins off the floor this season and owns a quality minutes projection of 31.0 tonight. The DFS price points haven’t quite caught up to his current role yet.

Other Guards to Consider

PG Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, OKC vs. GSW

PG Ja Morant, MEM at NYK

SG RJ Barrett, TOR at BKN

PG Derrick White, BOS at PHI

PG Immanuel Quickley, TOR at BKN

PG Andrew Nembhard, IND at UTA

PG/SG Payton Pritchard, BOS at PHI

SG/SF Cedric Coward, MEM at NYK

PG/SG Anfernee Simons, BOS at PHI

SG Ace Bailey, UTA vs. IND (Boost if starting again)

PG Jamal Shead, TOR at BKN

PG/SG Jordan Clarkson, NYK vs. MEM

Small Forwards/Power Forwards to Consider 🏀

PF Karl-Anthony Towns, NYK | DK: $9k, FD: $8.5k | vs. MEM

KAT has been rolling lately, topping 50 DKFP in three of his last four games. He’s carrying a 26% usage rate and a career-best 21.4% rebound rate while averaging 1.40 FPPM on the season. The matchup sets up well against a Memphis squad that ranks 20th in DEFRTG and allows the sixth-most PPG in the paint (54.4). The Grizzlies have also ranked dead last versus starting power forwards on the season, and the Knicks lead the slate with a 121.5 implied team total. While he’s not cheap, KAT is simply too cheap given his current level of production and excellent matchup.

SF Michael Porter Jr., BKN | DK: $7.4k, FD: $7.3k | vs. TOR

Porter has caught fire lately, averaging 43.6 DKFP/39.9 FDFP over his last five games. With Cam Thomas (hamstring) sidelined again, MPJ is the clear No. 1 role for Brooklyn; he has seen his usage rate climb from 26.6% with Thomas on the floor to 33.1% with him off. The up-tempo matchup with Toronto (9th in pace) adds to Porter’s appeal, and the Raptors also rank a slate-worst 26th versus starting forwards this season.

PF/C Kyle Filipowski, UTA | DK: $4k, FD: $4.6k | vs. IND

The Jazz are thin on frontcourt depth -- Taylor Hendricks and Kyle Anderson will both miss a second straight game. Meanwhile, veteran Kevin Love has been ruled out, and, of course, starting center Walker Kessler will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn labrum. That should mean a larger role and more minutes for Filipowski. He played 26 minutes off the bench yesterday, and that was with Love available. Filipowski’s per-minute production is down a bit this season, to 0.90 FPPM. But he’s shown that he can be a 1.00 FPPM (or better) type of player before. And, with a solid mid-20s minutes projection, he’s a worthy value option in this spot versus a Pacers team that has ranked 24th versus reserve forwards this season (and 28th versus reserve centers, if Filipowski ends up playing a bit of the five).

Other Forwards to Consider

PF Pascal Siakam, IND at UTA

SF Jaylen Brown, BOS at PHI

PF Scottie Barnes, TOR at BKN

SF Brandon Ingram, TOR at BKN

SF OG Anunoby, NYK vs. MEM

PF/C Santi Aldama, MEM at NYK

SF/PF Josh Hart, NYK vs. MEM

PF Trendon Watford, PHI vs. BOS

PF Noah Clowney, BKN vs. TOR

Centers to Consider 🏀

C Nic Claxton, BKN | DK: $6.4k, FD: $6.3k | vs. TOR

Claxton has been cooking lately, averaging 1.30 FPPM and 39.1 DKFP/40.4 FDFP over his last five. On the season, Claxton has also increased his per-minute production from 1.03 FPPM with Cam Thomas (hamstring/out) on the floor to 1.29 FPPM with Thomas off. Backup center Day’Ron Sharpe (glute/out) will be missing his first game of the season, which further cements stronger minutes for Claxton. He’ll also draw a great matchup versus a Raptors team that has allowed 1.35 FPPM to starting centers, and rank 24th in DvP [versus centers].

C Andre Drummond, PHI | DK: $5.3k, FD: $4.5k | vs. BOS

The 76ers have been fairly inconsistent with how they’re handling the center minutes and usage whenever Joel Embiid has been out or limited. But, instead of Adem Bona getting another spot start, veteran center Andre Drummond did receive his first start of the season in Philadelphia’s last game versus the Pistons on Sunday, with Embiid sidelined. Drummond responded with a 17-point, 12-rebound double-double and 41.5 DKFP/40.4 FDFP across 35 minutes. The hope would be that this recent performance was enough to land Drummond the primary center gig with Embiid out again tonight. And, if Drummond is going to play 30+ minutes, or close to it, then he’s going to be a great value target this evening. Drummond isn’t necessarily scoring fantasy points at the same elite rate that he has in the past, but he’s still at an excellent 1.19 FPPM this season.

Other Centers to Consider

C Jusuf Nurkic, UTA vs. IND

C Neemias Queta, BOS at PHI

C Quinten Post, GSW at OKC

C Mitchell Robinson, NYK vs. MEM (Currently questionable)
