DFS Main Slate Rundown 📰

Due to the ongoing NBA Cup, it’s officially the week of the mini slate. There was just a single game on the schedule last night and we won’t have a slate larger than three games until Friday. Usually, we won’t roll out a newsletter for a slate that features less than four games. Still, I had some time on my hands and figured I’d get a quick newsletter together for today’s NBA Cup quarterfinals doubleheader anyway. Best of luck!

Point Guards/Shooting Guards to Consider 🏀

PG Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, OKC | DK: $10k, FD: $10.8k | vs. DAL

SGA is coming off one of his least attractive DFS scores of the season, putting up just 38.0 DKFP/35.4 FDFP against the Pelicans on Saturday. It was a game where he poured in 31 points, but the peripherals just weren’t there as he had just four assists, two rebounds, and zero steals/blocks. We should expect SGA to bounce back tonight in what should be a close, high-scoring game with the Mavs. The Thunder step in as 4.5-point favorites and lead the slate with a 117.5 implied team total. Dallas has also ranked 24th versus starting PGs L10Games and SGA already has a big game against the Mavs on his resume this season -- 58.5 DKFP/61.4 FDFP vs. DAL on 11/17.

PG/SG Kyrie Irving, DAL | DK: $8.3k, FD: $8.4k | at OKC

There are only so many pathways you can take in lineup construction for a two-game slate but one potential leverage play could be Kyrie Irving. Naturally, Luka Doncic (DK: $11.3k, FD: $11.8k) is going to be a priority for many folks which will, in turn, keep Irving’s ownership relatively low (by two-game slate standards). We know Irving is less likely to pop off for a spike performance while Luka is healthy, but he did just go for a 29/6/4 stat line with two steals and a block on Saturday -- good for 50.0 DKFP/48.2 FDFP. When sharing the court with Doncic, Irving’s per 32-minute fantasy point average only dips by 3.48 FP, and the Mavs also have brief stretches where Irving and Doncic aren’t sharing the court together.

PG/SG Cole Anthony, ORL | DK: $4.2k, FD: $4.8k | at MIL

The Magic have been without star forward Paolo Banchero for a while now and now they’ve lost Franz Wagner for at least a month due to a torn oblique. Wagner had been stepping up in a big way since Banchero was injured, but now the production of those two players will need to come from somewhere else. Cole Anthony is a solid bet to pick up some of the slack. With Wagner missing his first game on Sunday, Anthony ended up playing a season-high 29 minutes off of the Magic bench while turning in 26.5 DKFP/26.9 FDFP. Anthony has averaged a strong 1.09 FPPM this season, and that bumps up to 1.19 FPPM when both Banchero and Franz Wagner are off the court. If he’s going to play nearly 30 minutes again tonight, he should find his way to paying off these $4k salaries with relative ease.

Other Guards to Consider

PG Luka Doncic, DAL at OKC

PG Jalen Suggs, ORL at MIL

SG/SF Luguentz Dort, OKC vs. DAL

PG/SG Cason Wallace, OKC vs. DAL

Small Forwards/Power Forwards to Consider 🏀

PF/C Giannis Antetokounmpo, MIL | DK: $11.1k, FD: $11.9k | vs. ORL

Giannis simply being an option on a two-game slate is about all the reason you need to get him into your lineups. He’s had a few lackluster outings recently, and the match-up certainly isn’t great. That said, any time Giannis is under $12k, you can feel pretty good about his chances of paying off with at least 60 FP. Giannis is also averaging +20% more FPPG at home this season and he should be looking to step up in a meaningful NBA Cup quarterfinal game against a shorthanded Magic team.

SF/SG Klay Thompson, DAL | DK: $4.6k, FD: $4.7k | at OKC

I could see Klay Thompson flying a little under the radar as there are simply safer SG/SF options to choose from. The range of outcomes is fairly wide for Klay, but he can still get it rolling from beyond the arc and is attempting 7.7 three-pointers per game this season. He could look like a more appealing option pending the Mavericks’ final injury report. PJ Washington and Naji Marshall are both questionable while Jaden Hardy and Maxi Kleber are both already ruled out. With those four players off the court this season, Klay Thompson has handled a significant +6.7% usage increase while averaging +8.4 more fantasy points per 32 minutes. But, again, we’ll need to wait and see what the availability is for Washington & Marshall before we give Thompson an upgrade.

SF/SG Alex Caruso, OKC | DK: $3.7k, FD: $4.8k | vs. DAL

This is more of a DraftKings-preferred value play as Caruso is more generously priced at $3,700 there. He recently returned from a hip injury and has gone on to supply 22.5 DKFP and 25.0 DKFP in the two games played since re-joining the rotation. He’s up to 1.07 FPPM across his last five games and should secure around 20 minutes tonight.

Other Forwards to Consider

PF Jalen Williams, OKC vs. DAL

PF PJ Washington, DAL at OKC (Currently questionable)

PF/C Bobby Portis, MIL vs. ORL

SF/SG Gary Trent Jr., MIL vs. ORL

SF/PF Olivier-Maxence Prosper, DAL at OKC (Only if both Washington & Marshall are out)

Centers to Consider 🏀

C Isaiah Hartenstein, OKC | DK: $7.1k, FD: $7.7k | vs. DAL

Aside from one dud in a blowout win against the Jazz where he played just 22 minutes, Hartenstein has been a solid DFS option since getting healthy and filling in for the injured Chet Holmgren. Hartenstein is averaging a stout 1.31 FPPM on the season and, though he likely won’t play massive minutes, he should be able to put up a strong performance with around 30 minutes tonight. The Mavs have ranked 27th versus starting centers L20Games and are allowing 39.0 DKFP/38.9 FDFP to starting centers in that span.

C Goga Bitadze, ORL | DK: $5.4k, FD: $6.2k | at MIL

Ya never really know what you’re going to get out of Goga Bitadze on any given night but, in the first game where both Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero were sidelined, he exploded for a 21-point, 16-rebound double-double while racking up 48.0 DKFP/45.2 FDFP against the Suns on Sunday. Bitadze has now handled a +8.3 percentage points boost to his usage rate with F. Wagner, Banchero, and Gary Harris off the floor this season, along with an +11.8 fantasy point per 32-minute increase. And there is no question that the Magic will need Bitadze to play strong minutes against a sizable Bucks’ frontcourt.

Other Centers to Consider

C Dereck Lively II, DAL at OKC

C Moritz Wagner, ORL at MIL

C Daniel Gafford, DAL at OKC
