DFS Main Slate Rundown 📰
We’re back! NBA returns from the All-Star Break with a loaded nine-game Thursday slate. If you’ve played NBA DFS for a while, you know that taking a week off can feel like an eternity, but hopefully, the time off can do us all some good as we look forward to tackling the second half of the season. The week off has also given some teams the chance to rest up and get healthier, so by nine-game slate standards, the injury report isn’t too congested today. That said, there are still some major players whose “questionable” status will need to be monitored as their availability, or lack thereof, will have a significant impact on the slate. Let’s jump into the action! Best of luck!

Main Slate Match-Ups w/ Game Totals & Point Spreads

Top DraftKings & FanDuel DFS Plays
Note: NBA position designations are never going to perfectly align between the major DFS sites. For the purposes of these newsletters, positional designations will default to DraftKings.
Point Guards/Shooting Guards to Consider 🏀
PG Jalen Brunson, NYK | DK: $8.4k, FD: $9.2k | vs. CHI
I would imagine that at least a couple of Knicks will be popular targets today, and for good reason. We’ll lead things off with Jalen Brunson, who should need to take on a heavier workload than usual this evening. Josh Hart (knee/out), one of the NBA’s most durable players, will be forced to miss his second game of the season tonight. Hart’s knee injury isn’t serious as it is classified as “patellofemoral syndrome,” which is an injury that typically occurs in long-distance runners -- which just further emphasizes the sort of extensive run (literally) that Hart is had this season. Hart may not be a high-usage player (14.2% USG%), but he contributes in a variety of ways. With Hart off the floor, Jalen Brunson has handled a team-leading +4.7% USG% increase while averaging +6.7 FP per 32 minutes. OG Anunoby (foot) is also questionable to play. Anunoby missed the Knicks’ previous five games prior to the All-Star Break, and if he’s forced to sit out again tonight, Brunson may receive an additional projections boost as his usage rate has increased by +8.9 percentage points with both Hart and Anunoby off the floor this season. Finally, you have the always-favorable matchup versus the Bulls, who are 3rd in pace, 27th in DEFRTG, and have ranked dead last versus starting PGs this season. These two teams have met twice this season and have combined to average 256 PPG in those two games. There is another lofty 245 over/underpinned on this game today, and the Knicks (-12) step in with a slate-leading 128.5 implied team total.
SG Desmond Bane, MEM | DK: $7.5k, FD: $7.5k | at IND
This game between the Grizzlies and Pacers has one of the highest totals we’ve seen this season at 251 points, and there’s also a narrow spread (MEM -2.5). So, should the matchup live up to expectations, there’s a strong chance at least one or two players end up in the optimal lineup. Desmond Bane seems like a strong target at his $7,500 price point on both sites. Bane has brought an excellent DFS floor to the table night in and night out for over two months now and he does have 50+ FP upside in the tank. He has averaged a strong 1.23 FPPM over his last 20 games, and even with the Grizzlies now at full strength, Bane should still be expected to log around 35 minutes in a competitive atmosphere, which brings forth 6x upside potential if he maintains or exceeds his recent FPPM average.

PG Chris Paul, SAS | DK: $5.3k, FD: $5.8k | vs. PHX
The Spurs received some awful news today with the announcement that Victor Wembanyama will miss the remainder of this season due to deep vein thrombosis discovered in his right shoulder. We can all hope that this is just a one-time issue for one of the game’s most exciting young stars and that he’s able to come back at full strength next season. In the meantime, other Spurs will have to step up. The recently acquired De’Aaron Fox is a prime candidate to take on some added usage; however, we don’t have much of a sample size with Fox as it pertains to how he performs with Wemby off the floor. One thing we can see with a large sample size to back it up is Chris Paul’s team-leading +4.52% USG% increase in 360+ minutes played with Wemby off the floor this season. And, if you want to look at the small sample size since Fox joined the team, Paul still leads the team with a +8.0% USG% increase with Wemby off the floor plus Fox on the floor. No Wembanyama is going to negatively affect Paul’s assist rate, but he can more than make up for that with some additional shot attempts. Paul also draws a strong individual matchup as the Suns have allowed the most FPPG to starting PGs L20Games.
Other Guards to Consider
PG Damian Lillard, MIL vs. LAC (Currently questionable - boost if Giannis is out)
PG James Harden, LAC at MIL
PG/SG Devin Booker, PHX at SAS
PG/SG Austin Reaves, LAL vs. POR
PG/SG Jamal Murray, DEN vs. CHA
PG/SG De’Aaron Fox, SAS vs. PHX
PG/SG Anfernee Simons, POR vs. LAL
SG/SF Christian Braun, DEN vs. CHA
PG/SG Stephon Castle, SAS vs. PHX
PG/SG Keon Johnson, BKN vs. CLE
SG/SF Nick Smith Jr. CHA at DEN
PG TJ McConnell, IND vs. MEM
PG/SG Miles McBride, NYK vs. CHI
PG/SG Cameron Payne, NYK vs. CHI
Small Forwards/Power Forwards to Consider 🏀
SF Franz Wagner, ORL | DK: $8.6k, FD: $8.8k | at ATL
Wagner can have a wide range of outcomes, but we’ve seen some monster games out of him throughout the season, even when Paolo Banchero has been healthy and is taking up a huge chunk of the usage. These two teams met ten days ago, just before the All-Star Break, and Wagner certainly benefitted from the matchup as he went on to supply 37 points on 15/29 shooting (38.3% USG%) and 54.75 DKFP/53.90 FDFP. Orlando is dead last in the NBA in PPG (104.0) but is being given a 112.3 implied point total in this pace-up matchup, so most of the key Magic players should be expected to perform above their baseline. The Hawks rank 2nd in pace and are 30th versus starting SFs this season. This game also features the slimmest spread on the slate (ORL -1.5) and overall, Wagner sets up as an appealing high-end forward play.

SF Bennedict Mathurin, IND | DK: $5.2k, FD: $5.7k | vs. MEM
Moving to a bench role isn’t always the worst thing for a player, as they get a chance to take on a more prominent role while not sharing as much court time with the starters. Bennedict Mathurin has come off of the Pacers’ bench for each of the last two games, and things have gone well for him as he has supplied performances of 18/3/4 (30.25 DKFP/30.60 FDFP) across 31 minutes and 28/5/4 (40.75 DKFP/38.0 FDFP) across 33 minutes. Mathurin got off to a hot start this season but had cooled off in recent months but perhaps his new role off of the bench is the answer for more consistency and upside. He has averaged a quality 1.11 FPPM in his games off of the bench, and the Pacers seem to be willing to give him around 30 minutes despite not being in the starting lineup. As mentioned, this game sets up very well from a DFS perspective given its slate-high 251 over/under and close 2.5-point spread. This is also a plus matchup, as the Grizzlies have ranked 21st versus bench SFs this season.
PF/C Jeremy Sochan, SAS | DK: $4.5k, FD: $5.1k | vs. PHX
Jeremy Sochan getting a spotlight is another result of the “Wembanyama done for the season” fallout. With backup center Charles Bassey (knee/out) also sidelined, Sochan is expected to move into the starting center role, at least for the time being. Sochan’s playing time hasn’t been great lately, as he has averaged just 20.5 Min/gm L5Games. However, he has been solid from a per-minute standpoint, averaging 1.07 FPPM in that span. As a starter, Sochan should be locked into at least mid-20s minutes, and he brings much more double-double upside to the table if he does indeed step in as the starting center. Sochan also posted one of his seven double-doubles from this season against the Suns back in December, where he put up 14 points and 12 boards in just 22 minutes. He should be a popular value option tonight but tough to ignore in a presumed elevated role.
Other Forwards to Consider
SF/PF LeBron James, LAL at POR (Currently questionable)
PF/C Kevin Durant, PHX at SAS
PF Miles Bridges, CHA at DEN
PF Pascal Siakam, IND vs. MEM
SF/PF Kyle Kuzma, MIL vs. LAC (Preferred if Giannis is out)
SF/PF Cameron Johnson, BKN vs. CLE
PF/C Precious Achiuwa, NYK vs. CHI
SF/SG Caris LeVert, ATL vs. ORL
PF Santi Aldama, MEM at IND
PF/C Trendon Watford, BKN vs. CLE
Centers to Consider 🏀
C Karl-Anthony Towns, NYK | DK: $9.7k, FD: $9.9k | vs. CHI
After posting some duds in late January/early February, KAT got back on track ahead of the ASB, putting up 66.5 DKFP/59.5 FDFP and 70.5 DKFP/68.9 FDFP in the two games before the break. Like the aforementioned Jalen Brunson, Towns has been another beneficiary when Josh Hart (knee/out) has been off the court, taking on a +4.1% USG% boost and +6.4 FP per 32 minutes. Those figures rise to +7.9% USG%/+9.6 FP per 32 when both Hart and Anunoby (questionable) have been off the floor. Regardless of Anunoby’s status, we can’t help but love KAT in this match-up. He has demolished the Bulls in two previous meetings this season, averaging 73.25 DKFP/69.1 FDFP in those games. That’s not a major surprise, considering Chicago has ranked 29th versus starting centers this season. Towns will be a popular spend-up target today,y but he’s still under $10k on both sites and could push for 7x value against this porous Bulls’ defense once again.

C Jusuf Nurkic, CHA | DK: $4.3k, FD: $5.4k | at DEN
This play is a touch dicey as it could easily be Moussa Diabate who plays the most center minutes for the Hornets tonight (Mark Williams will be sitting out the second leg of the back-to-back for conditioning purposes). But it does appear as if Jusuf Nurkic is the favorite to start after being onboarded with his new team. Nurkic has appeared in the Hornets’ last two games -- once as a starter and once off of the bench. While he has only played a combined 34 minutes in those two games, he has averaged an excellent 1.52 FPPM in a Hornets uniform. I wouldn’t expect Nurkic to all of a sudden play 30+ minutes or anything, but if he can get to low-20s minutes, he could certainly turn out to be a bargain. The Hornets are shorthanded tonight and are major +16.5 point underdogs, but Nikola Jokic isn’t exactly known for his defense. The Nuggets have allowed the 3rd most FPPG to start centers L20Games, and I doubt many people will be taking the gamble on Nurkic tonight.
Other Centers to Consider
C Nikola Jokic, DEN vs. CHA
C Ivica Zubac, LAC at MIL
C Jarrett Allen, CLE at BKN
C Donovan Clingan, POR vs. LAL
C Brook Lopez, MIL vs. LAC (Boost if Giannis and/or Lillard are out)
C Moussa Diabate, CHA at DEN
PF/C Sandro Mamukelashvili, SAS vs. PHX (Boost if starting but should see meaningful minutes regardless)

DFS Main Slate Rundown 📰
It’s another busy day in the NBA. Eleven games reside on the Wednesday schedule -- DraftKings will exclude the two late games (PHX/OKC and ORL/SAC) from their main slate while FanDuel will feature the full menu. Trades continue to go down with the biggest move today involving the Bucks and Wizards trading Khris Middleton for Kyle Kuzma. The injury report is also a complete fiasco so keep those eyes and ears peeled for all the news that drops throughout the afternoon and evening! Let’s jump into the chaos! Best of luck!

Top DraftKings & FanDuel DFS Plays
Note: NBA position designations are never going to perfectly align between the major DFS sites. For the purposes of these newsletters, positional designations will default to DraftKings.
Point Guards/Shooting Guards to Consider 🏀
PG/SG Jamal Murray, DEN | DK: $7.7k, FD: $8.3k | vs. NOP
The Nuggets lead the slate with a lofty 124.8 implied team total so the Denver studs will make plenty of sense today. Jamal Murray has been playing very well of late, averaging 1.21 FPPM L5Games and scoring at least 42.0 DKFP/44.0 FDFP in four of those last five games. He has secured 40+ FP in all three previous meetings with the Pelicans this season and, given their 29th-ranked DEFRTG and 29th-ranked DvP versus starting PGs L20Games, Murray’s expectations should be high once again this evening.
PG/SG Isaiah Collier, UTA | DK: $5.2k, FD: $5.2k | vs. GSW
Perhaps not the most exciting DFS play, but Isaiah Collier has provided some quality value in recent weeks, routinely returning 6x value at these low-$5k price points. Collier’s minutes and role should be more secure with Collin Sexton (ankle/out) expected to be sidelined for at least a week -- with Sexton only playing three minutes in Monday’s game, Collier went on to supply a point/assist double-double in 32 minutes versus the Pacers. Collier has also shot it significantly better at home this season with a 48.5% FG% versus a 32.6% FG% on the road. This may not be the best match-up but Collier did post a quality 12/6/9 stat line and 31.0 DKFP/28.7 FDFP against the Warriors just last Tuesday, and that was with Sexton active and putting up 30 points of his own.

SG Gradey Dick, TOR | DK: $4.2k, FD: $4.6k | vs. MEM
The Raptors will be shorthanded today with RJ Barrett, Jakob Poeltl, and Immanuel Quickley ruled out. Gradey Dick has seen a notable +4.5% USG% boost with those three players off the court this season along with a +5.8 FP per 32 minutes increase. Both teams in this game rank top 10 in pace, with Memphis ranking 1st in the NBA, so there will be plenty of possessions to go around. If the Raptors (+10.5) hope to pull off the upset, Gradey Dick will likely need to be heavily involved in the scoring.
Other Guards to Consider
PG Cade Cunningham, DET vs. CLE
PG Tyrese Maxey, PHI vs. MIA
PG/SG Anthony Edwards, MIN vs. CHI
SG/SF Trey Murphy III, NOP at DEN
PG Darius Garland, CLE at DET (Boost if D. Mitchell is out)
PG/SG Dyson Daniels, ATL vs. SAS
PG Josh Giddey, CHI at MIN
PG Jordan Poole, WAS at BKN
PG Keyonte George, UTA vs. GSW
SG/SF Bilal Coulibaly, WAS at BKN
SG/SF Christian Braun, DEN vs. NOP
PG/SG Keon Johnson, BKN vs. WAS
PG Ty Jerome, CLE at DET (Preferred if D. Mitchell is out)
PG Jamal Shead, TOR vs. MEM
FanDuel Main Slate Only
SG/SF Devin Booker, PHX at OKC
PG/SG Malik Monk, SAC vs. ORL
PG/SG Cole Anthony, ORL at SAC
Small Forwards/Power Forwards to Consider 🏀
PF/C Jaren Jackson Jr., MEM | DK: $8.3k, FD: $8.7k | at TOR
Over the last two games, JJJ has led the Grizzlies in scoring, with 31 and 37 points, as well as usage rate, with 31.8% USG% and 43.8% USG%. One of those games was without Ja Morant, but the other was without Desmond Bane, who will be out once again tonight. For a big man, Jackson is not a very prolific rebounder, but he can rack up multiple blocks and steals on any given night and he’ll draw a strong individual match-up. The Raptors have ranked 27th versus starting PFs L20Games and when these teams met in late December, Jackson dropped 50.25 DKFP/49.2 FDFP. I believe we can get a similar result out of him this evening.

SF/PF Michael Porter Jr., DEN | DK: $6.4k, FD: $6.6k | vs. NOP
MPJ has mostly been a solid floor play throughout this season but he erupted for 36 points and 52.75 DKFP/49.4 FDFP against this same Pelicans team on Monday. I believe the Peyton Watson (knee/out) injury is a bit underrated in regards to Porter’s role. Watson has been a key piece off of the Nuggets’ bench this season and, with Watson sidelined the last two games, Porter has played 40+ minutes in each contest. We can’t expect a repeat performance from Monday but I’d say 40+ FP is well within Porter’s wheelhouse tonight.
PF Matas Buzelis, CHI | DK: $4k, FD: $4.2k | at MIN
The Bulls took Buzelis with the 11th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. With Zach LaVine shipped off to the Kings and none of the recently acquired players (Kevin Huerter, Zach Collins, Tre Jones) ready to make their Chicago debut, Buzelis will have a chance to continue playing in an expanded role. He logged a season-high 31 minutes off of the bench in last night’s game versus the Heat and went on to score 24 points and 32.0 DKFP/31.4 FDFP. Buzelis has averaged a respectable 0.92 FPPM L5Games and, should he flirt with 30 minutes again tonight, he’ll be a great bet to return some nice value.
Other Forwards to Consider
PF/C Giannis Antetokounmpo, MIL at CHA
SF/PG Scottie Barnes, TOR vs. MEM
PF/C Evan Mobley, CLE at DET (Boost if D. Mitchell is out)
PF/C John Collins, UTA vs. GSW
PF/C Naz Reid, MIN vs. CHI
PF/C Guerschon Yabusele, PHI vs. MIA
SF/PF Zaccharie Risacher, ATL vs. SAS
SF/PF Justin Edwards, PHI vs. MIA
SF/SG Corey Kispert, WAS at BKN
SF/PF Gregory Jackson, MEM at TOR
SF/PF Justin Champagnie WAS at BKN (Preferred if starting)
SF/SG Ja’Kobe Walter, TOR vs. MEM (Preferred if starting)
FanDuel Main Slate Only
PF/SF Paolo Banchero, ORL at SAC
SF/SG Grayson Allen, PHX at OKC
Centers to Consider 🏀
C Rudy Gobert, MIN | DK: $6.8k, FD: $6.9k | vs. CHI
Gobert continues to play some of his best basketball of the season following a 19/13/3 (plus two blocks and a steal) stat line against the Kings on Monday. He has now scored at least 37.0 DKFP/36.5 FDFP in five of his last six games, including three games of at least 47.25 DKFP/48.1 FDFP in that span. Gobert has averaged +4.6 FP per 32 minutes with Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo (both out) off the floor this season and, as always, the Bulls represent an elite match-up for opposing centers, ranking 29th against the position this season. Gobert’s DFS salaries are on the up and up but there’s still some real upside at his sub-$7k price points.

C Kelly Olynyk, TOR | DK: $3.3k, FD: $4k | vs. MEM
There is some pretty clear value here with Kelly Olynyk expected to start in place of the injured Jakob Poeltl. In his only other start this season, which also came against the Grizzlies in late December, Olynyk averaged 1.20 FPPM and scored 27.75 DKFP/25.50 FDFP. Olynyk only played 23 minutes in that game but I believe he could get closer to 26-28 minutes as the starter tonight. Either way, he won’t have to do much to pay off these bottom-of-the-barrel salaries tonight.
Other Centers to Consider
C Nikola Jokic, DEN vs. NOP
C Victor Wembanyama, SAS at ATL
C Mark Williams, CHA vs. MIL
C Jalen Duren, DET vs. CLE
C Kel’el Ware, MIA at PHI
C Zach Edey, MEM at TOR
C Kevon Looney, GSW at UTA
C Quinten Post, GSW at UTA
FanDuel Main Slate Only
C/PF Domantas Sabonis, SAC vs. ORL
C Isaiah Hartenstein, OKC vs. PHX
