DFS Main Slate Rundown 📰

We’ll keep the ball rolling following the All-Star Break with a quality Friday slate to send us into the weekend! DraftKings will feature a six-game main slate, excluding the three latest games (MIN/HOU, OKC/UTA, GSW/SAC), and FanDuel will feature the full menu with all nine games loaded onto their main slate. Several teams will be playing their first game since the ASB while everyone else is on the second leg of a back-to-back, so that may be something to keep in the back of your mind when it comes down to building your player pool. The injury report isn’t too hectic as most guys dealing with some sort of injury have already been ruled out or are listed as “probable”. There are some quality match-ups on the board today so it should be a fun night of action. Let’s see if we can crack the code! Best of luck!

Main Slate Match-Ups w/ Game Totals & Point Spreads

Top DraftKings & FanDuel DFS Plays

Note: NBA position designations are never going to perfectly align between the major DFS sites. For the purposes of these newsletters, positional designations will default to DraftKings.

Point Guards/Shooting Guards to Consider 🏀

PG Kyrie Irving, DAL | DK: $9.3k, FD: $9.2k | vs. NOP

Kyrie hasn’t constantly been coming through as much as one would hope, given the Mavericks’ current injury situation and the fact that Luke Doncic is no longer with the team. That said, he’ll find himself in an excellent spot today. The Pelicans head in ranking 29th in DEFRTG and they have also ranked 29th versus starting PGs this season, allowing 1.19 FPPM to the position. If Irving meets or exceeds that FPPM average, it would be a nice uptick from his 1.10 FPPM across his L20Games. Irving has played no fewer than 40 minutes in each of his last five starts and he should be well-rested as he last played nine days ago (excluding the minimal minutes played during the ASG). The Mavs continue to be without several frontcourt players -- Anthony Davis, Daniel Gafford, and Derrick Lively II are all out. With those players, plus Luka Doncic, off the court this season, Irving has taken on a solid +3.44% USG% boost while averaging +6.8 FP per 32 minutes. The Mavs also have one of the highest implied team totals of the day at 121.5 points so, all-in-all, we should anticipate a big night out of Kyrie even though he has underperformed in similar spots in the past.

PG Immanuel Quickley, TOR | DK: $6.2k, FD: $6.8k | vs. MIA

The season has not gone according to plan for Immanuel Quickley as injuries have limited him to appearing in just 16 of the Raptors’ 55 games. But it has been encouraging to see his minutes tick up as he has logged at least 30 minutes in his previous three games. The nine days of rest from the ASB should keep him on track to play 30+ minutes again tonight, which would make him an intriguing option out of the mid-range. Quickley hasn’t been super prolific on a per-minute basis, averaging 1.07 FPPM on the season, but based on his historical success as a featured starter, we know that he’s fully capable of popping off in any given game. The match-up is also sneaky good. While Miami doesn’t play at a fast pace (27th) and is 10th in overall DEFRTG, they have struggled mightily versus point guards. Over their last 20 games, Miami is allowing the second-most FPPG to starting PGs -- 41.6 DKFP/40.8 FDFP on average, as well as 1.20 FPPM. If Quickley meets those averages, I’d say we’d be pretty content with those results for a player out of the $6k range.

PG/SG Kevin Porter Jr., MIL | DK: $4.2k, FD: $5.1k | at WAS

This play is a bit of a risk at the moment but the Bucks will be without Damian Lillard and Bobby Portis tonight while Giannis Antetokounmpo (calf/probable) may not handle a full workload (he played only 24 minutes last night following a six-game absence). Of course, for this play recommendation, the Lillard absence carries the most weight. There is a chance that Ryan Rollins will step in as the starting PG, as he has done in several previous games that Lillard has sat out. But the recently acquired Kevin Porter Jr. is also a candidate to start, or at least pick up some additional minutes off of the bench. I was looking at the Bucks’ rotation from last night’s game and noticed that Porter was Lillard’s direct substitute throughout the entire game while Rollins didn’t log any playing time. The matchup with the Wizards (last in DEFRTG, 4th in pace) is always a good one and with this being a 7 o’clock ET tip-off, we’ll know the Bucks’ starting lineup before the slate gets underway. If Porter is not starting, he becomes a moderately risky cheap play but, if he starts, he may prove to be one of the best values on the slate. In his two starts this season (both with the Clippers), Porter poured in 50.75 DKFP/50.90 FDFP (1/22 vs. BOS) and 35.0 DKFP/35.4 FDFP (12/8 vs. HOU) -- worth noting, those games came against two top-five defensive teams.

Other Guards to Consider

PG Cade Cunningham, DET at SAS

PG Jalen Brunson, NYK at CLE

PG/SG De’Aaron Fox, SAS vs. DET

PG Darius Garland, CLE vs. NYK

PG/SG Stephon Castle, SAS vs. DET

PG Chris Paul, SAS vs. DET

PG Jose Alvarado, NOP at DAL

SG/SF Max Christie, DAL vs. NOP

PG Carlton Carrington, WAS vs. MIL

SG/SF Gary Trent Jr., MIL at WAS

PG/SG Miles McBride, NYK at CLE (Preferred if starting again)

PG/SG Cameron Payne, NYK at CLE

SG/SF Vince Williams Jr., MEM at ORL (Currently questionable)

FanDuel Main Slate Only

PG Steph Curry, GSW at SAC

SG/SF Zach LaVine, SAC vs. GSW

SG/SF Jordan Clarkson, UTA vs. OKC

PG/SG Brandin Podziemski, GSW at SAC

SG/SF Luguentz Dort, OKC at UTA

Small Forwards/Power Forwards to Consider 🏀

SF/PF Zion Williamson, NOP | DK: $8.5k, FD: $9k | at DAL

There are plenty of “good, not great” forwards at the top of pricing on this slate -- with the exception of Giannis, but he is tough to spend up on while coming off of an injury absence stint. Zion Williamson isn’t exactly the picture of health himself, and his playing time is likely capped around 28 minutes as the 13-42 Pelicans have no real reason to push him. But he has been making the most of the minutes he gets, averaging a robust 1.58 FPPM across his 18 games played this season. He has put up at least 53.5 DKFP/53.8 FDFP in two of his last three starts and, once again, the time off during the ASB can only be a positive thing. The fact that Zion isn’t going to play 35+ minutes regardless of game script is a deterrent, but he has proven that he still has ample upside at his current price points. This could also prove to be a strong matchup for him against a Mavs team that is extremely depleted in the frontcourt and I would expect Williamson to be matched up against players much smaller than him for much of this game.

SF/PF Ausar Thompson, DET | DK: $5.3k, FD: $6.6k | at SAS

It’s tough to not want to keep riding the Ausar Thompson wave, especially on DraftKings where inexplicably his price tag has barely budged. Thompson went into the ASB averaging a hefty 1.37 FPPM and 35.1 DKFP/36.7 FDFP over his L5Games. The Pistons do seem intent on keeping his playing time in the low-to-mid 20s minutes but he has clearly figured something out in recent weeks which has elevated his overall game and provided more DFS consistency. The Spurs have also ranked 26th versus SF starters L20Games and are on the second leg of a back-to-back. I will say, that if there is one situation where an All-Star Break layoff could be detrimental, it’s with a young player, like Thompson, who was hitting a stride prior to the hiatus. But we’ll bank on Thompson maintaining his momentum heading into tonight.

PF Santi Aldama, MEM | DK: $4.5k, FD: $5.6k | at ORL

The Grizzlies run a deep rotation but Santi Aldama routinely plays the most minutes among the bench players and he often provides a big spark on the second unit. He’s averaging 1.19 FPPM across his last five and last 20 games and is capable of contributing in all five stat categories. While it’s not a guarantee, Aldama could pick up some additional playing time with Memphis being on the second leg of a back-to-back. And, while it’s not a great matchup versus the slow-pace, defensively-minded Magic (3rd in DEFRTG), who are also on a B2B, Aldama did pop for 41.25 DKFP/38.9 FDFP across 28 minutes when these teams met earlier this season.

Other Forwards to Consider

SF Franz Wagner, ORL vs. MEM

SF/SG Trey Murphy III, NOP at DAL

PF Paolo Banchero, ORL vs. MEM

PF/C Bam Adebayo, MIA at TOR

SF/SG RJ Barrett, TOR vs. MIA

PF/C PJ Washington, DAL vs. NOP (Currently questionable)

SF/PF Kyle Kuzma, MIL at WAS

PF/C Jeremy Sochan, SAS vs. DET

PF Kessler Edwards, DAL vs. NOP (Preferred if Washington is out)

PF Kyshawn George, WAS vs. MIL

SF/SG Dante Exum, DAL vs. NOP

FanDuel Main Slate Only

SF/PF Jimmy Butler, GSW at SAC

PF/C Naz Reid, MIN at HOU (Boost if A. Edwards and/or R. Gobert are out)

SF/PF Jaden McDaniels, MIN at HOU (Boost if A. Edwards is out)

SF/PF Tari Eason, HOU vs. MIN

SF/SG Moses Moody, GSW at SAC

Centers to Consider 🏀

C Jalen Duren, DET | DK: $6.7k, FD: $6.9k | at SAS

Jalen Duren’s name has been synonymous with volatility throughout his career but he has found much more consistency and upside in recent weeks. He’ll go into tonight’s game scoring at least 41.25 DKFP/38.10 FDFP in three of his last four starts and he has averaged a stout 1.47 FPPM over his L5Games. Normally, I don’t go out of my way to target centers against the Spurs but now that Wembanyama is unfortunately out for the remainder of the season, this matchup becomes much friendly for opposing bigs. Duren should be a near-lock for a double-double tonight and the Pistons own one of the highest implied team totals on the slate (120.5).

C Wendell Carter Jr., ORL | DK: $4.3k, FD: $4.7k | vs. MEM

At least for now, it looks as if Wendell Carter Jr. has reclaimed the starting center gig and, after getting the unexpected start yesterday, neither DFS site has had time to adjust his pricing accordingly. Carter fell one point shy of recording a double-double in last night’s game versus the Hawks, ultimately ending with nine points, 15 rebounds, and a block across 32 minutes -- good for 29.75 DKFP/30.0 FDFP. Assuming he starts and plays similar minutes tonight, Carter will be a strong bet to return value at these price points as he has averaged a respectable 0.93 FPPM L20Starts and the Grizzlies have allowed the 8th most FPPG to starting centers L20Games.

Other Centers to Consider

C Karl-Anthony Towns, NYK at CLE

C Jarrett Allen, CLE vs. NYK

C Brook Lopez, MIL at WAS

C Charles Bassey, SAS vs. DET (Boost if starting)

C Isaiah Stewart, DET at SAS

FanDuel Main Slate Only

C/PF Domantas Sabonis, SAC vs. GSW

C Walker Kessler, UTA vs. OKC

C Rudy Gobert, MIN at HOU (Currently questionable)

PF/C Draymond Green, GSW at SAC

DFS Main Slate Rundown 📰

It’s another busy day in the NBA. Eleven games reside on the Wednesday schedule -- DraftKings will exclude the two late games (PHX/OKC and ORL/SAC) from their main slate while FanDuel will feature the full menu. Trades continue to go down with the biggest move today involving the Bucks and Wizards trading Khris Middleton for Kyle Kuzma. The injury report is also a complete fiasco so keep those eyes and ears peeled for all the news that drops throughout the afternoon and evening! Let’s jump into the chaos!

PG/SG Jamal Murray, DEN | DK: $7.7k, FD: $8.3k | vs. NOP

The Nuggets lead the slate with a lofty 124.8 implied team total so the Denver studs will make plenty of sense today. Jamal Murray has been playing very well of late, averaging 1.21 FPPM L5Games and scoring at least 42.0 DKFP/44.0 FDFP in four of those last five games. He has secured 40+ FP in all three previous meetings with the Pelicans this season and, given their 29th-ranked DEFRTG and 29th-ranked DvP versus starting PGs L20Games, Murray’s expectations should be high once again this evening.

PG/SG Isaiah Collier, UTA | DK: $5.2k, FD: $5.2k | vs. GSW

Perhaps not the most exciting DFS play, but Isaiah Collier has provided some quality value in recent weeks, routinely returning 6x value at these low-$5k price points. Collier’s minutes and role should be more secure with Collin Sexton (ankle/out) expected to be sidelined for at least a week -- with Sexton only playing three minutes in Monday’s game, Collier went on to supply a point/assist double-double in 32 minutes versus the Pacers. Collier has also shot it significantly better at home this season with a 48.5% FG% versus a 32.6% FG% on the road. This may not be the best match-up but Collier did post a quality 12/6/9 stat line and 31.0 DKFP/28.7 FDFP against the Warriors just last Tuesday, and that was with Sexton active and putting up 30 points of his own.

SG Gradey Dick, TOR | DK: $4.2k, FD: $4.6k | vs. MEM

The Raptors will be shorthanded today with RJ Barrett, Jakob Poeltl, and Immanuel Quickley ruled out. Gradey Dick has seen a notable +4.5% USG% boost with those three players off the court this season along with a +5.8 FP per 32 minutes increase. Both teams in this game rank top 10 in pace, with Memphis ranking 1st in the NBA, so there will be plenty of possessions to go around. If the Raptors (+10.5) hope to pull off the upset, Gradey Dick will likely need to be heavily involved in the scoring.

Other Guards to Consider

PG Cade Cunningham, DET vs. CLE

PG Tyrese Maxey, PHI vs. MIA

PG/SG Anthony Edwards, MIN vs. CHI

SG/SF Trey Murphy III, NOP at DEN

PG Darius Garland, CLE at DET (Boost if D. Mitchell is out)

PG/SG Dyson Daniels, ATL vs. SAS

PG Josh Giddey, CHI at MIN

PG Jordan Poole, WAS at BKN

PG Keyonte George, UTA vs. GSW

SG/SF Bilal Coulibaly, WAS at BKN

SG/SF Christian Braun, DEN vs. NOP

PG/SG Keon Johnson, BKN vs. WAS

PG Ty Jerome, CLE at DET (Preferred if D. Mitchell is out)

PG Jamal Shead, TOR vs. MEM

FanDuel Main Slate Only

SG/SF Devin Booker, PHX at OKC

PG/SG Malik Monk, SAC vs. ORL

PG/SG Cole Anthony, ORL at SAC

Small Forwards/Power Forwards to Consider 🏀

PF/C Jaren Jackson Jr., MEM | DK: $8.3k, FD: $8.7k | at TOR

Over the last two games, JJJ has led the Grizzlies in scoring, with 31 and 37 points, as well as usage rate, with 31.8% USG% and 43.8% USG%. One of those games was without Ja Morant, but the other was without Desmond Bane, who will be out once again tonight. For a big man, Jackson is not a very prolific rebounder, but he can rack up multiple blocks and steals on any given night and he’ll draw a strong individual match-up. The Raptors have ranked 27th versus starting PFs L20Games and when these teams met in late December, Jackson dropped 50.25 DKFP/49.2 FDFP. I believe we can get a similar result out of him this evening.

SF/PF Michael Porter Jr., DEN | DK: $6.4k, FD: $6.6k | vs. NOP

MPJ has mostly been a solid floor play throughout this season but he erupted for 36 points and 52.75 DKFP/49.4 FDFP against this same Pelicans team on Monday. I believe the Peyton Watson (knee/out) injury is a bit underrated in regards to Porter’s role. Watson has been a key piece off of the Nuggets’ bench this season and, with Watson sidelined the last two games, Porter has played 40+ minutes in each contest. We can’t expect a repeat performance from Monday but I’d say 40+ FP is well within Porter’s wheelhouse tonight.

PF Matas Buzelis, CHI | DK: $4k, FD: $4.2k | at MIN

The Bulls took Buzelis with the 11th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. With Zach LaVine shipped off to the Kings and none of the recently acquired players (Kevin Huerter, Zach Collins, Tre Jones) ready to make their Chicago debut, Buzelis will have a chance to continue playing in an expanded role. He logged a season-high 31 minutes off of the bench in last night’s game versus the Heat and went on to score 24 points and 32.0 DKFP/31.4 FDFP. Buzelis has averaged a respectable 0.92 FPPM L5Games and, should he flirt with 30 minutes again tonight, he’ll be a great bet to return some nice value.

Other Forwards to Consider

PF/C Giannis Antetokounmpo, MIL at CHA

SF/PG Scottie Barnes, TOR vs. MEM

PF/C Evan Mobley, CLE at DET (Boost if D. Mitchell is out)

PF/C John Collins, UTA vs. GSW

PF/C Naz Reid, MIN vs. CHI

PF/C Guerschon Yabusele, PHI vs. MIA

SF/PF Zaccharie Risacher, ATL vs. SAS

SF/PF Justin Edwards, PHI vs. MIA

SF/SG Corey Kispert, WAS at BKN

SF/PF Gregory Jackson, MEM at TOR

SF/PF Justin Champagnie WAS at BKN (Preferred if starting)

SF/SG Ja’Kobe Walter, TOR vs. MEM (Preferred if starting)

FanDuel Main Slate Only

PF/SF Paolo Banchero, ORL at SAC

SF/SG Grayson Allen, PHX at OKC

Centers to Consider 🏀

C Rudy Gobert, MIN | DK: $6.8k, FD: $6.9k | vs. CHI

Gobert continues to play some of his best basketball of the season following a 19/13/3 (plus two blocks and a steal) stat line against the Kings on Monday. He has now scored at least 37.0 DKFP/36.5 FDFP in five of his last six games, including three games of at least 47.25 DKFP/48.1 FDFP in that span. Gobert has averaged +4.6 FP per 32 minutes with Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo (both out) off the floor this season and, as always, the Bulls represent an elite match-up for opposing centers, ranking 29th against the position this season. Gobert’s DFS salaries are on the up and up but there’s still some real upside at his sub-$7k price points.

C Kelly Olynyk, TOR | DK: $3.3k, FD: $4k | vs. MEM

There is some pretty clear value here with Kelly Olynyk expected to start in place of the injured Jakob Poeltl. In his only other start this season, which also came against the Grizzlies in late December, Olynyk averaged 1.20 FPPM and scored 27.75 DKFP/25.50 FDFP. Olynyk only played 23 minutes in that game but I believe he could get closer to 26-28 minutes as the starter tonight. Either way, he won’t have to do much to pay off these bottom-of-the-barrel salaries tonight.

Other Centers to Consider

C Nikola Jokic, DEN vs. NOP

C Victor Wembanyama, SAS at ATL

C Mark Williams, CHA vs. MIL

C Jalen Duren, DET vs. CLE

C Kel’el Ware, MIA at PHI

C Zach Edey, MEM at TOR

C Kevon Looney, GSW at UTA

C Quinten Post, GSW at UTA
