DFS Main Slate Rundown 📰
An enticing Monday slate hits the board this evening with eight games on the schedule! DraftKings will exclude the two latest games (MIL at PHX, BOS at SAC) from its main slate while FanDuel will feature the full menu. If the Vegas lines are to be believed, this could be shaping up as one of the most competitive slates, top to bottom, that we’ve seen in quite some time. At the time of this writing, there is not a single matchup on this slate with a spread larger than four points, which is quite an anomaly! Let’s dive in. Best of luck!

Main Slate Match-Ups w/ Game Totals & Point Spreads

Top DraftKings & FanDuel DFS Plays
Note: NBA position designations are never going to perfectly align between the major DFS sites. For the purposes of these newsletters, positional designations will default to DraftKings.
Point Guards/Shooting Guards to Consider 🏀
PG/SF Josh Giddey, CHI | DK: $9.1k, FD: $9k | at DEN
Giddey has now cracked the $9k threshold on both sites, but his insane production in recent weeks makes the price hike fully warranted. He has missed a few games due to injury recently, but when he’s been out there, he is stuffing the stat sheet. Giddey is now averaging a monster 1.63 FPPM L5Starts and nearly put up a QUADRUPLE-double with 15 points, 17 assists, 10 rebounds, and eight steals in 33 minutes against the Lakers on Saturday. Giddey has gone for at least 50.5 DKFP/46.6 FDFP in nine of his last ten starts. This matchup has the fastest combined pace and, unsurprisingly, the highest total on the slate with the Bulls being narrow 3.5-point underdogs versus the Joker-less Nuggets who are also on the second leg of a back-to-back.

PG Jeff Dowtin, PHI | DK: $5k, FD: $4.4k | at NOP
Stop me if you’ve heard this line before, but the 76ers are going to be very shorthanded and running a short rotation yet again tonight. On top of the usual players who have missed, at minimum, the last handful of games (J. Embiid, T. Maxey, P. George, K. Oubre Jr., L. Walker IV, etc), Quentin Grimes has been ruled out for “rest” purposes. Grimes has been keeping what’s left of the 76ers’ offense afloat lately and has rocked over a 35% USG% across his last five games. Needless to say, there will be plenty of minutes and usage to go around for the remaining Philly players. In just under 100 minutes played with all of the previously listed 76ers off the floor, Dowtin has seen a team-leading +9.83% USG% increase while averaging +9.8 FP per 32 minutes. The last time that Grimes, along with the usual absent 76ers, was out of the lineup came 10 days ago against the Pacers. In that game, which he started, Dowtin posted a 24/5/4 stat line with two steals and a block across 40 minutes played -- good for 42.75 DKFP/45.0 FDFP. Philadelphia ran a thin eight-man rotation in that game, and they may be forced to do the same thing tonight. The Pelicans have ranked dead last in DEFRTG this season and they’re going to be shorthanded as well, so there are no real issues with the matchup in what is essentially two G-League-caliber teams facing one another tonight.
PG Jose Alvarado, NOP | DK: $4.9k, FD: $5k | vs. PHI
As alluded to in Dowtin’s spotlight, the Pelicans will be missing some key pieces tonight so there is going to be value to be found on both sides of this matchup. Along with the key Pelicans’ players who have been ruled out for the season (D. Murray, T. Murphy III, H. Jones), they’ll be sitting Zion Williamson, CJ McCollum, and Bruce Brown while Yves Missi is listed as questionable. With all of those guys off the floor (aside from Missi), Alvarado has handled a +6.6% USG% and has averaged +10.0 FP per 32 minutes. Alvarado has averaged 1.08 FPPM in his last five games as a starter, however, his minutes have fluctuated quite a bit in those games. Given the nature of the Pelicans’ backcourt tonight, I’d be fairly surprised if Alvarado doesn’t play at least 30-32 minutes in this one, so he’s a clear candidate to return 6x (or better) value. Over their last 10 games, the 76ers have ranked 28th in DEFRTG while playing at the 10th fastest pace.
Other Guards to Consider
PG Luka Doncic, LAL at ORL
PG/SG Jamal Murray, DEN vs. CHI
PG/SG Coby White, CHI at DEN
PG Russell Westbrook, DEN vs. CHI (Preferred if starting)
PG Immanuel Quickley, TOR at WAS
PG/SG Spencer Dinwiddie, DAL at BKN (Preferred if A. Davis remains out)
PG/SG Jared Butler, PHI at NOP
PG/SG Keon Johnson, BKN vs. DAL
PG/SG Donte DiVincenzo, MIN at IND (Preferred if A. Edwards is out)
SG Tyrese Martin, BKN vs. DAL
PG/SG Jordan Hawkins, NOP vs. PHI
SG/SF Marcus Smart, WAS vs. TOR
PG Mike Conley. MIN at IND (Boost if A. Edwards is out)
FanDuel Main Slate Only
SG/PG Derrick White, BOS at SAC (Boost if J. Brown is out)
SG/PG Kevin Porter Jr., MIL at PHX
PG Collin Gillespie, PHX vs. MIL (Only if starting again)
Small Forwards/Power Forwards to Consider 🏀
PF Paolo Banchero, ORL | DK: $9.9k, FD: $9.5k | vs. LAL
Banchero continues to trend in the right direction and, over his previous five games, he has supplied 32.4 PPG (on a 35.2% USG%), 9.2 RPG, 4.8 APG, 1.57 FPPM, and 56.3 DKFP/54.4 FDFP per game. He has put up at least 21 shots in six consecutive games and this matchup at home versus the Luka/LeBron Lakers is one he should step his game up for. The Lakers have dipped to 21st in DEFRTG L10Games and they have allowed the second-most FPPG to starting power forwards over their L20Games.

SF/PF Justin Edwards, PHI | DK: $5k, FD: $5.9k | at NOP
Back to the 76ers’ M*A*S*H unit, we go. Justin Edwards has recently stepped into a sizable role and has logged at least 38 minutes in three of the 76ers’ last four games. He is averaging 21.0 PPG and 33.6 DKFP/32.8 FDFP in that four-game span and is just a bit too cheap, particularly on DraftKings, for this current level of production. Edwards has taken on a +9.1% USG% increase and produced +9.2 FP per 32 minutes with all of the currently injured 76ers off the floor and he’ll draw a positive matchup versus the Pelicans, who have ranked 21st versus starting small forwards L10Games.
PF/C Karlo Matkovic, NOP | DK: $4.4k, FD: $4.3k | vs. PHI
I’ll like this play a bit more if Yves Missi (hip/questionable) is also ruled out, which would likely lock Matkovic into a starting role. Matkovic may start even if Missi is active, or at least handle increased minutes off the bench, due to Zion Williamson’s second consecutive absence. Matkovic started yesterday’s game and led the team with 11 rebounds despite playing just 16 minutes due to fouling out. Were it not for the foul trouble, Matkovic may have played closer to 28-30 minutes, as he has done in some previous starts this season. He’s right around an FPPM player so, if the minutes are there, he should not have many issues returning value in this soft matchup.
Other Forwards to Consider
SF/PF Scottie Barnes, TOR at WAS
PF/C PJ Washington, DAL at BKN (Preferred if A. Davis remains out)
PF/C Julius Randle, MIN at IND (Boost if A. Edwards is out)
SF/PF Cameron Johnson, BKN vs. DAL
SF/PF Michael Porter Jr., DEN vs. CHI
PF Aaron Gordon, DEN vs. CHI (Currently questionable)
SF/PF Kyshawn George, WAS vs. TOR
SF/SG Kevin Huerter, CHI at DEN
PF/C Kelly Olynyk, NOP vs. PHI
PF/C Peyton Watson, DEN vs. CHI (Preferred if A. Gordon is out)
SF/PF Chuma Okeke, PHI at NOP
PF/C Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, NOP vs. PHI
FanDuel Main Slate Only
PF Giannis Antetokounmpo, MIL at PHX
PF/SF Jayson Tatum, BOS at SAC (Boost if J. Brown is out)
SF/PF Ryan Dunn, PHX vs. MIL
Centers to Consider 🏀
C Jakob Poeltl, TOR | DK: $5.8k, FD: $6.9k | at WAS
The center options are a bit suspect on this slate but Jakob Poeltl should draw some interest now that he has had three days to rest up. The Raptors have been keeping Poeltl well under 30 minutes since he returned from a hip injury that kept him out for eight consecutive games in February. However, the 28 minutes he logged in his last game on Thursday were the most he has seen since returning from the injury. Poeltl has been excellent from a per-minute standpoint, averaging 1.43 FPPM L5Games. So if he can get up to that 28-minute mark again tonight, he should do well in this matchup versus a Wizards team that has allowed the most FPPG to centers L20Games.

C Deandre Jordan, DEN | DK: $3k, FD: $3.6k | vs. CHI
This is a play we’ll need to be cautious with and have a late-swap plan in place in case he doesn’t start again. Nikola Jokic (ankle/out) will miss a fifth straight game tonight. Deandre Jordan, who had not seen the court since March 2nd, finally saw a spot start in place of Jokic yesterday, and he responded with an 11-point/15-rebound double-double and secured 38.75 DKFP/37.0 FDFP. He played a hefty 38 minutes in that game, so the back-to-back factor has to be a concern for the 36-year-old veteran who had been fully out of the rotation for several weeks prior to yesterday. But, if the Nuggets do hand him another start, Jordan’s dirt cheap DFS price points are going to make him tough to ignore in a positive matchup. With this being a 9 o’clock ET tipoff, we likely won’t know the Nuggets’ starting lineup until around 8:30 ET so, once again, be prepared to swap him out of your lineups if Jordan is not listed as a starter as he’d become a much riskier investment (possibly a straight-up goose egg if he’s not starting).
Other Centers to Consider
C Nikola Vucevic, CHI at DEN
C Alexandre Sarr, WAS vs. TOR
C Kai Jones, DAL at BKN (Only if A. Davis remains out + Jones starts)
C Wendell Carter Jr., ORL vs. LAL
C Yves Missi, NOP vs. PHI (Currently questionable)
C Adem Bona, PHI at NOP (Preferred if starting)
C Day’Ron Sharpe, BKN vs. DAL
FanDuel Main Slate Only
C Brook Lopez, MIL at PHX
C Nick Richards, PHX vs. MIL
