DFS Main Slate Rundown 📰
Eight games will line up for today’s NBA slate! There isn’t anything overly remarkable about this set of games. There are a few double-digit spreads, a handful of 230+ over/unders, and a moderately busy injury report. It’s a reasonably run-of-the-mill slate for this point in the season. Speaking of which, there are now less than three weeks remaining in this NBA regular season and every team has between nine and 12 games remaining. So stay on your toes because things are about to get stranger than usual with some of these starting lineups! As we near the finish line, it also becomes more and more important to target teams that have something to play for. Best of luck!

Point Guards/Shooting Guards to Consider 🏀
PG Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, OKC | DK: $11.2k, FD: $11.4k | at SAC
I don’t love the idea of spending up at guard today, but there is plenty of value to choose from on this slate so taking the raw floor that some of the studs provide is going to make some sense. These $11k+ price points for SGA do not leave much meat on the bone, but we know that barring injury, he isn’t going to burn you in lineups and he could end up popping for one of his 65+ FP nights. Dating back to last season, SGA has scored no fewer than 52.5 DKFP/51.7 FDFP in six matchups with the Kings. SGA already shoulders one of the heaviest offensive workloads in the NBA, and he heads in with 33.8 PPG on a 36.8% USG% across his last five games. That workload may increase even further if any combination of Jalen Williams, Chet Holmgren, Aaron Wiggins, and Cason Wallace (all questionable) are out tonight.
PG Scotty Pippen Jr., MEM | DK: $5k, FD: $5.9k | at UTA
As mentioned, value is not in short supply today so we’ll be spotlighting a couple of affordable options at the guard position. With Ja Morant on the mend with a hamstring injury, Pippen will be given a larger role to work with. Morant has missed the previous four games for the Grizzlies but it wasn’t until their last game against the Clippers on Friday that Pippen entered the starting lineup. I believe after playing so well off of the bench, Pippen forced the coaching staff’s hand. While it didn’t result in a win and was in fact a 20-point blowout loss, Pippen played well by supplying 15 points on an efficient 6-of-9 shooting along with five assists, three rebounds, two steals, and a block across 27 minutes on Friday -- good for 30.75 DKFP/30.10 FDFP. In what should be a better game script tonight, Pippen should push for 30+ minutes and he has now averaged 33.9 DKFP/35.3 FDFP over his last five games (27.0 Min/gm). The matchup doesn’t get much better against the Jazz and their 29th-ranked defense. Memphis also leads all teams today with a 125.3 implied team total.

PG/SG Cameron Payne, NYK | DK: $4.6k, FD: $4.1k | vs. DAL
Cam Payne will be another cheap guard that will be tough to overlook today. Jalen Brunson is set to miss a ninth straight game with an ankle injury while backup point guard and interim starter Miles McBride will miss a second straight game with a groin injury. As a result, Payne will notch a second consecutive start and play some very strong minutes, as Tom Thibodeau’s starters typically do. Payne turned in a solid performance as a starter versus the Wizards on Saturday, posting a 13/4/7 stat line and 31.5 DKFP/30.3 FDFP in 30 minutes. I do find it a little odd that after playing the entire first quarter, Payne sat for the entirety of the second quarter while reserve PG Tyler Kolek ran the point for all twelve 2Q minutes. I’m not sure if that will happen again tonight, but Payne still saw plenty of minutes in the second half and could have played a couple of additional minutes were it not for the blowout factor. Payne receives a great matchup at home versus the Mavs, who have allowed the 3rd most FPPG to PG starters L20Games.
Other Guards to Consider
PG Cade Cunningham, DET vs. SAS (Currently questionable)
SG Desmond Bane, MEM at UTA
PG Tyler Herro, MIA vs. GSW
PG Darius Garland, CLE at POR
PG/SG Jalen Green, HOU vs. ATL
PG/SG Spencer Dinwiddie, DAL at NYK
SG/SF Mikal Bridges, NYK vs. DAL
PG/SG Brandin Podziemski, GSW at MIA (Preferred if Curry is out)
PG Fred VanVleet, HOU vs. ATL
SG/SF Malik Beasley, DET vs. SAS (Boost if Cunningham and/or Hardaway are out)
PG/SG Dennis Schroder, DET vs. SAS (Only if Cunningham is out + Schroder starts)
PG Ty Jerome, CLE at POR
PG Davion Mitchell, MIA vs. GSW
PG Anthony Black, ORL at CHA
Small Forwards/Power Forwards to Consider 🏀
SF/PF Jimmy Butler, GSW | DK: $8.7k, FD: $8.5k | at MIA
Here’s a big matchup for “revenge game” backers. Jimmy Butler returns to Miami for the first time since his tumultuous trade. If you know me, you know I’m not the biggest “revenge game” guy, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t believe Butler would bring a bit more juice to tonight’s game. But, more importantly, he’s just playing at a high level lately. Over his last four games, Butler is averaging 22.0 PPG, 9.0 APG, 7.8 RPG, and 2.0 STL+BLK/gm. Those gaudy numbers have led to 49.9 DKFP/48.3 FDFP per game in that span. The Warriors have not played since Saturday, which bodes well for Butler as he has averaged +29% more FPPG when well-rested. The Heat have also let up the 6th most FPPG to PF starters L20Games. Steph Curry is also questionable to play tonight. Since joining the Warriors, Butler’s splits have not seen a significant boost with Curry off the floor, but it would be a slight boost nonetheless [if Curry is out].
SF/PF Deni Avdija, POR | DK: $7.7k, FD: $8.4k | vs. CLE
The DFS formula for Avdija has been to avoid him on second legs of back-to-backs and to fire him up when he’s had at least a day to rest. Avdija has met or (far) exceeded salary-based expectations in six of his last seven games, with the lone down game coming on the tail end of a B2B. In three of those games, Avdija erupted for at least 64.0 DKFP/62.2 FDFP. The Trailblazers have quietly been a very pesky team, even against better competition, and they’ve recently snagged upset wins over the Nuggets (albeit without Jokic) and Grizzlies (albeit without Morant). Portland is a home underdog tonight, but only by seven points… and Cleveland is missing a key player of their own with Donovan Mitchell ruled out. The Trailblazers forced overtime against the Cavs when these teams met earlier this month, and Avdija had a monster game in that one with a 30/12/10 triple-double (62.5 DKFP/54.4 FDFP). The Cavs have been shockingly bad against power forwards, and have allowed the most FPPG to the position over their last 20 games, so it’s another strong individual matchup for Avdija this evening.

PF/C Kyle Filipowski, UTA | DK: $6.1k, FD: $6.1k | vs. MEM
Barring further injury news, there isn’t as much standout value at forward as there is at other positions, but at $6,100 on both DK and FD, Kyle Filipowski won’t break the bank and brings plenty of upside. When Filipowski has been given the minutes, typically as a starter, the second-round rookie has not disappointed. His starts have typically coincided with center Walker Kessler being out, but Filipowski got the starting nod at power forward (while Kessler played his usual center role) in Utah’s last game versus the Cavs on Sunday. In that game, Filipowski posted a team-high 18 points and tied a team-high with 13 rebounds, resulting in 38.25 DKFP/33.10 FDFP. It’d be a surprise if he doesn’t stick in the starting rotation, at least while both Lauri Markkanen and John Collins remain out. Over his last seven games as a starter, Filipowski has averaged 41.1 DKFP/38.6 FDFP. The Grizzlies have allowed the 3rd most FPPG to starting power forwards L20Games so Filipowski once again brings plenty of upside to lineups at these price points.
Other Forwards to Consider
PF Paolo Banchero, ORL at CHA
PF/C Evan Mobley, CLE at POR
SF/PG Amen Thompson, HOU vs. ATL
PF/C Jaren Jackson Jr., MEM at UTA
SF/SG Devin Vassell, SAS at DET (Boost if Castle is out)
PF Santi Aldama, MEM at UTA (Preferred if starting again)
SF/PF Andrew Wiggins, MIA vs. GSW
SF/SG Toumani Camara, POR vs. CLE
SF/PF Zaccharie Risacher, ATL at HOU
SF/PF Keldon Johnson, SAS at DET
SF/SG Julian Champagnie, SAS at DET (Preferred if Castle is out)
SF/SG Vince Williams Jr., MEM at UTA
SF/SG Johnny Juzang, UTA vs. MEM (Boost if Clarkson is out)
Centers to Consider 🏀
C Karl-Anthony Towns, NYK | DK: $10k, FD: $9.8k | vs. DAL
KAT has shown some signs of breaking out of his late-season slump in recent games, going for at least 31 points in two of his last three. Perhaps fatigue has had something to do with Towns’ slump but the Knicks have not played since Saturday so he should be well-rested heading into this matchup. With both Jalen Brunson and Miles McBride off the floor this season, KAT has posted a team-leading +8.0% USG% and +7.0 FP per 32 minutes. And Towns will draw a plus matchup versus the Mavs who have ranked 21st versus starting centers L10Games. Anthony Davis, who returned to the Mavs’ lineup last night, will also be sitting out on the second leg of the back-to-back, so that’s one less big body available to slow down KAT.
C Kel’el Ware, MIA | DK: $5.5k, FD: $6.2k | vs. GSW
Ebbs and flows are to be expected for any rookie in their first NBA season but Kel’el Ware has been trending back upward following a brief stretch of some lackluster production. Ware has averaged a strong 1.15 FPPM and 37.9 DKFP/37.6 FDFP over his last four games as a starter. For a hot minute, Ware was the odds-on favorite to win the NBA Rookie of the Year award before Stephon Castle (now the heavy ROTY favorite) and others like Zaccharie Risacher and Alexandre Sarr entered the conversation. But he has looked great once again lately and Ware gets an excellent matchup versus a Warriors team that has ranked 29th versus starting centers over their last 10 games.

Other Centers to Consider
C Alperen Sengun, HOU vs. ATL
C Jalen Duren, DET vs. SAS
C Isaiah Hartenstein, OKC at SAC (Preferred if Jal. Williams and C. Holmgren are out)
C Jarett Allen, CLE at POR
C Wendell Carter Jr., ORL at CHA
C Kai Jones, DAL at NYK
C Quinten Post, GSW at MIA
C Isaiah Stewart, DET vs. SAS
C Jay Huff, MEM at UTA
