DFS Main Slate Rundown 📰

Seven games hit the board today, and it’s shaping up to be another classic late-season slate. There will once again be plenty of injury news to factor in, and we’ve got a pair of matchups featuring 20+ point spreads. That said, there are still a few competitive games expected between playoff-bound teams – ATL at CLE, POR at SAS, and OKC at LAC. I would’ve included MIN at ORL in that group, but the Timberwolves are resting essentially their entire starting lineup, so that one could get dicey. Let’s get into it. Best of luck!

Today’s Key Injuries 🚑

Note: NBA injury reports can be fickle and often update throughout the day. Be sure to stay up-to-date on all injury news leading up to tip-off as the list below may be a bit outdated by the time you’re reading this.

Top DraftKings & FanDuel DFS Plays

Note: NBA position designations are never going to perfectly align between the major DFS sites. For the purposes of these newsletters, positional designations will default to DraftKings.

Point Guards/Shooting Guards to Consider 🏀

PG/SG Devin Booker, PHX | DK: $9.3k, FD: $9.4k | vs. DAL

Value should be plentiful again today, so those savings will need to be allocated somewhere. Booker may not bring the highest ceiling, but he’s been steady of late, scoring at least 42.75 DKFP in five of his last six games. He’s also scored 30+ points in four of those contests while operating with a 32% USG%. The Suns are on a back-to-back, and Booker logged 39 minutes yesterday, but there’s still some motivation here as they look to hold onto the No. 7 seed and secure homecourt for the play-in tournament. He also draws a strong individual matchup against a Dallas team that has allowed the second-most FPPG to point guards over their last 20 games while ranking 28th in DvP over that span.

PG/SG Bones Hyland, MIN | DK: $5k, FD: $6.3k | at ORL

Hyland steps into a massive opportunity with the Timberwolves sitting most of their key pieces tonight. Anthony Edwards, Julius Randle, Rudy Gobert, Ayo Dosunmu, and backup guard Mike Conley are all out, with Jaden McDaniels also questionable, leaving a ton of usage and minutes up for grabs. Hyland has been excellent off the bench lately, averaging an elite 1.48 FPPM over his last three games while producing at least 37.75 DKFP in each. He now projects for 32.0 minutes as a starter, which is a significant boost given how productive he’s been on a per-minute basis. At these salaries, he stands out as one of the stronger value options on the slate.

SG Lucas Williamson, MEM | DK: $4.4k, FD: $4.8k | at DEN

Williamson is another example of Memphis leaning hard into the tank, and he’s been given a real opportunity over the last couple of games. He logged 36.4 and 39.8 minutes in his last two outings, including his first career NBA start on Monday, which he turned into 37.25 DKFP against the Cavs. He’s projected for 32 minutes tonight, which keeps him firmly in the value conversation at these prices. There’s some risk here given how unproven he is at the NBA level, but Memphis has shown a willingness to let these fringe NBA spot starters play through mistakes. Even in a likely blowout as massive 23.5-point underdogs, Williamson could easily push for 40 minutes again tonight.

Small Forwards/Power Forwards to Consider 🏀

SF/PF Deni Avdija, POR | DK: $9k, FD: $9.9k | at SAS

Avdija looks back to full form and continues to handle a heavy workload for Portland. He’s topped 44 DKFP in three straight games and has logged 37+ minutes in two of those, while maintaining strong per-minute production. This game carries some postseason seeding implications, so the Blazers should stay motivated here as they look to improve their play-in tournament position. The matchup also sets up better than usual with Victor Wembanyama out, removing the Spurs’ elite rim protector. Avdija has already taken advantage of that this season, averaging 59.1 DKFP in two meetings with the Spurs – Wembanyama was out for each of those games.

PF/C Naz Reid, MIN | DK: $5.7k, FD: $5.9k | at ORL

With so many key Timberwolves starters sidelined, this could lead to a rare spot start for Naz Reid. Regardless, he should step into an expanded role as long as Minnesota wants to be competitive in this game. Reid hasn’t been quite as productive in recent weeks compared to his midseason run, but the upside is still there when the workload increases. He’s averaged 1.38 FPPM and a 28.0% USG% with Edwards, Randle, Gobert, and Dosunmu off the floor this season, both well above his baseline marks (1.11 FPPM, 22.1% USG%). If he reaches his current 30-minute projection, it’s hard to imagine Reid flopping in this spot.

PF Dariq Whitehead, MEM | DK: $4.2k, FD: $5.2k | at DEN

Whitehead continues to see a major role in this thin Memphis G-League rotation and has taken on plenty of volume in recent games. He’s logged 31+ minutes in back-to-back outings while taking at least 15 shots in each, including a 20-point performance last time out. He projects for 31 minutes again tonight, keeping him firmly in the value mix. He looks like a stronger option on DraftKings at $4,200 but can still get there on FanDuel if the per-minute production spikes or if he pushes toward another 40-minute workload.

Centers to Consider 🏀

C Onyeka Okongwu, ATL | DK: $5.9k, FD: $7.2k | at CLE

Even with the Nuggets destined for a likely blowout over the Grizzlies, you can always opt to pay up for Jokic (DK: $12.5k, FD: $13.2k), but Okongwu looks like a strong mid-range alternative, especially at $5,900 on DraftKings. He’s projected for 33.5 minutes and has averaged a steady 1.12 FPPM over his last 20 starts. The matchup is more favorable than it may seem, with Cleveland ranking 24th in DvP versus centers over their last 20 games, and Okongwu already put up 41 DKFP in this spot earlier this season. With both teams still jockeying for playoff seeding in a matchup with a tight 1.5-point spread, this should also be one of the most competitive environments on the slate.

C/PF Kyle Anderson, MIN | DK: $3.4k, FD: $3.9k | at ORL

Anderson is another candidate to draw a spot start for this shorthanded Timberwolves team, and he carries center eligibility on DraftKings. He’s averaged a serviceable 0.88 FPPM on the season and projects for mid-20s minutes tonight. If he sees most of his run at power forward, he’ll be in a strong individual matchup against an Orlando team that has allowed the second-most FPPG to starting PFs over their last 20 games. It’s tough to overlook Anderson at these sub-$4k salaries.
