Top NBA Plays 10/25 | Data Night

With Thursday night's games being in the books, it means that every team in the NBA now has a game under their belt. Obviously a lot will still change on a game-to-game basis, but at least now we can start having some trends to evaluate when building our DFS lineups. Today is a great place to start, with 9 games on tonight's card. Let's get into it:

Tonight's DFS Headlines

Kyrie Irving ($9,000) had a 76 point fantasy night in his debut with Brooklyn. Irving's 50 point scoring night did come in OT and on 33 shots. Do the Nets try to get more balance tonight or go all Imagine Dragons and do 'whatever it takes' to beat the Knicks?

The Phoenix Suns will have a new look now that Deandre Ayton has been suspended 25 games for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Does that improve Devin Booker's ($8,400) fantasy value starting tonight in Denver?

There's a lot of scoring potential in tonight's Mavericks at Hornets game with a total of 228.5. Dallas had a nice night from both Luka Doncic ($9200) in their opener and there seems to be some value on Kristaps Porzingis ($7600) tonight. Brandon Ingram's ($7100) salary is up $1300 after his 42 point fantasy night for New Orleans in the opener.

The Bulls gave up 126 points to Charlotte in a 1-point loss in their season opener. Is this the defense Ja Morant ($6,400) needs to face so he can have his 'welcome to the NBA' game for the Grizzlies? Can Lauri Markkanen ($8,000) get close to his 63 point fantasy night from game 1?

Are there some under-the-radar options to dig up in the Timberwolves @ Hornets game besides Karl-Anthony Towns ($10,800)? Charlotte has the 3rd worst defensive efficiency in the league after 1 game and Minnesota allowed 126 points in their opener (albeit in OT).

Guards

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (DK: $6500 FD: $6800 Y! $17)

Is it too early to buy in on OKC's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander? He does look refreshed with the move to the Thunder after putting up 23 shots in the opener vs. Utah. He only had 2 rebounds and a sole assist but it still looks like SGA, Chris Paul, and Danilo Gallinari are going to get as many shots as they each want in this Oklahoma City offense. OKC has the Wizards tonight, who gave up a 53 point fantasy night to Luka Doncic in the backcourt in their opener.

Dwayne Bacon (DK: $5700 FD: $6100 Y! $10)

Dwayne Bacon looks more than happy to step in and take some of the shots that have become available since Kemba Walker (and Jeremy Lamb) are out of the Charlotte backcourt. Bacon led the Hornets with 21 field goal attempts in their opener including 8 three pointers. He also grabbed 5 boards and had only 2 turnovers en route to a 37 point fantasy night. Charlotte has Minnesota on Friday night, a backcourt defense that was absolutely abused by Kyrie Irving last game.

Fred VanVleet (DK: $5700 FD: $6600 Y! $18)

When betting on a game and the line looks too good to be true, get out the d-CON because it's probably a trap. That's what it looks like for Fred VanVleet tonight at just $5,700 on DraftKings. Nick Nurse has said that FVV will be the starting shooting guard 'for the moment.' Was VanVleet's 12-18, 34 point (56 fantasy) night in the opener just a product of the Pelican's Swiss Cheese defense? We'll find out tonight vs. Boston's top 5 defensive backcourt but once again, for the price VanVleet is nice here.

Chicago's rookie Coby White ($4,500) had 17 points and 7 assists in 27 minutes in the opener and plays a Memphis team that gave up 120 to Miami. De'Aaron Fox is pricy ($7,900) but is anxious to go after getting in foul trouble and having a horrible season opener with 14 fp. Sacramento is without Marvin Bagley III and possibly Buddy Hield tonight. Devin Booker ($8400) might be a better option if spending up, as he had 22 points and 10 assists in game 1 and starts to play without Ayton tonight.

Forwards

Andrew Wiggins (DK: $6000 FD: $6700 Y!: $26)

Jarrett Culver is waiting in the wings for the Timberwolves and it looks like Andrew Wiggins senses that. Wiggins kicked off the season by taking 27 shots vs. the Nets. It was still just a 31 point fantasy night though, as Wiggins only made 10 of those 27 shots and was 0-4 from the field. He did have 8 boards though and also played with 4 fouls. The Hornets gave up 78 points in the paint in their first game, so Wiggins should get some easier shots to make here.

Taurean Prince (DK: $5600 FD: $5600 Y!: $15)

The big narrative in Brooklyn has to be that the Nets can't be a one-man team if they want to have success this season. That bodes well for Taurean Prince today. The Brooklyn forward managed 13 shots in the opener despite Irving launching 33 of them. Prince also put up 5 three pointers and had 11 boards for a +/- of +19. It was an OT game, but Prince also logged 41 minutes. The Knicks gave up 120 points to the Spurs in the season opener.

The Knicks should keep things close tonight, which is good for Prince's production.

Kelly Oubre, Jr. (DK: $5700 FD: $6400 Y! $30)

The Suns had a great pace in their opener with 113 possessions which is 4th most among teams that didn't go into overtime. Denver is going to slow things down more than Sacramento did, but the suspension of Phoenix's Ayton still opens things up a bit for players such as Kelly Oubre, Jr. The Suns F still had a very solid debut, going 8-17 from the field while also grabbing 9 boards en route to landing on the FanDuel perfect lineup. What's even better for tonight is that Oubre, Jr. only played 30 minutes in the opener, as the Suns were in a blowout win over the Kings. He should see more action in a closer game vs. the Nuggets.

๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ Other Likes ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ€

The narrative of Kyrie shooting less also benefits Caris Levert ($6,500) who had 19 shots in the season opener. Jaren Jackson, Jr. ($6,600) is a good fade play against Chicago's defense. Jackson, Jr. had 17 points in the opener - but per usual that was in just 29 minutes as he battled foul trouble. The Grizzlies had 115 possessions vs. Miami - if only Jackson could be on the floor for a few of them. Brandon Ingram ($7100) will be a chalk Friday, but he looks comfortable being out of Los Angeles after shooting 19 times in the season opener.

Center

Hassan Whiteside (DK: $7200, FD; $8000 Y!:$22 )

It's fitting that Halloween is next week because Hassan Whiteside looked like a monster in his season debut. Portland's new big man had 16 points but also grabbed 19 rebounds en route to a 43 point fantasy night. That was in just 26 minutes, as he was coming back from a tweaked ankle. Whiteside is not on the injury report for tonight. He should have another terrifying performance with Bagley III out for the Kings. Sacramento allowed 68 points in the paint to the Suns in their first game.

Whiteside has a very favorable matchup vs. the Kings front court.

๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ Other Likes ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ€

Karl-Anthony Towns ($10,700) is a good big man to build your lineup around tonight. He went for 74 fantasy points in the opener and Charlotte could be missing Cody Zeller tonight. Anthony Davis ($10,000) underperformed at 51 fantasy points in his Lakers debut, but he did get 21 shots and should be more relaxed in game two. There's value on Kristaps Porzingis ($7600) too, as he had 23 points in his first regular season action in 20 months and faces New Orleans tonight.
