Top NBA Plays 10/28 | This is Awkward

It's a fully stacked Monday NBA card with 11 games on the schedule, headlined by Russell Westbrook's old gal Oklahoma City coming to visit his new digs in Houston. We've got nearly a week of stats and data to start plugging in to the LineStar App, so let's see what goodies we can come up with for this October 28th slate.

Tonight's DFS Headlines

Philadelphia (103.3 possessions per game) at Atlanta (106.3) is looking like a nice fast-paced game to target. Oddsmakers agree, setting the total at 226.5.

Phoenix (103.5) hosting Utah (101.8) also looks like another up-paced game even though the total is just 216.5.

Can the 0-3 Knicks (NYK +1) get their first win of the season when they host the Bulls on Monday night? Should Chicago players be avoided after scoring just 84 points as a team the last game (although it was on a back-to-back)?

The NBA's worst defensive efficiency team, Golden State, is in action and on a back-to-back after a 92-120 loss to Oklahoma City on Sunday. The Warriors play New Orleans, who have allowed at least 123 points in all three of their games en route to an 0-3 start. Oddsmakers have the total sky high on this one at 236.5.

Charlotte at LAC (-15.5), Cleveland at Milwaukee (-15), and OKC at Houston (-10.5) are all expected blowouts according to betting lines. Stay away from those games or target the benches?

Guards

CJ McCollum (DK: $6300 FD: $6200 Y! $29)

Ownership should be on the lower side for CJ McCollum on Monday as he's up against San Antonio's #1 back court defense and on leg two of a back-to-back. That's a worthy fade play mostly for the way that the Portland G has been putting up shots so far this year. McCollum is 6th in the NBA in field goal attempts per game and had a 35/6/4 line vs. the Mavericks on Sunday. There's not as much travel going from Dallas to San Antonio which does help the fatigue factor a bit on the B2B.

McCollum's fantasy production has increased every game so far.

Malcolm Brogdon (DK: $6900 FD: $7600 Y! $25)

The price has climbed a bit for Malcolm Brogdon but so far he's been dealing in his first two games with Indiana. The Pacers are 0-2 but Brogdon is averaging 26 points and 10.5 assists on the year. The Pistons have the perception of being a good defensive team but Brogdon had a 22/11/3 split against them in the season opener. Trae Young followed that up with a 62 point fantasy night vs. the Pistons and Ben Simmons posted 46 fp against Detroit on Saturday.

It's been all green for PGs vs. Detroit this season.

JJ Redick (DK: $4500 FD: $4300 Y! $13)

There's good value on JJ Redick as he looks for his first big game as a member of the Hornets. One of the best things to like about Redick tonight is that he's up against Golden State. The Warriors are last in the NBA in defensive efficiency after their first two games but are also playing in night two of a back-to-back. Jrue Holiday is a game-time-decision and Redick got a season high 16 shots in his absence on Saturday - he just didn't hit many of them. The LineStar Usage Matrix shows a 10.83% increase for Redick in place of Holiday.

Redick should have a big night against Golden State regardless, but especially if Holiday is out.

Chicago's Coby White ($5000) had a 38 point fantasy night on Friday and plays his first tilt at MSG tonight. Devin Booker ($8500) has back-to-back 20+ field goal attempt games and should be in a faster paced game with Utah and also with the Suns' Ricky Rubio being a GTD. Jamal Murray ($6500) has good value against Sacramento's #30 ranked PG defense.

Forwards

Danilo Gallinari (DK: $6700 FD: $7100 Y!: $28)

Danillo Gallinari is on the second leg of a back-to-back on Monday, but he played just 21 minutes in the 28 point win over Golden State on Sunday. He still had a nice scoring night with 21 points over that span. The reason you have to get him in the lineup tonight is because the Rockets have been getting abused by the SF/PF position through two games. Giannis Antetokounmpo went for 30/13/11 last Thursday while Brandon Ingram followed that up with 35/15/5 on Saturday.

Houston has had some defensive issues vs. the front court through two games.

Brandon Ingram (DK: $7500 FD: $8500 Y!: $32)

New Orleans is a good stack on Monday, as everybody is going to try beating on Golden State while they can as revenge for the past 4-5 years. The only problem now is that you worry about Golden State being a bad fantasy matchup as they are on the receiving end of blowouts this season. The Warriors have a 19 and a 28 point loss through the first weekend of the year. Brandon Ingram is as solid a play as anybody in the NBA right now - especially if Jrue Holiday is out again for New Orleans. Ingram has 19+ field goal attempts in all three games this year and added 15 boards Saturday vs. Houston.

Pretty much the whole Pelicans starting lineup looks good vs. the league's worst defensive efficiency team.

Frank Kaminsky (DK: $5300 FD: $5200 Y! $16)

Frank Kaminsky can provide some nice value coming off the bench for Phoenix vs. Utah as he'll largely be able to avoid sharing court time against Rudy Gobert. Kaminsky did log 33 minutes on Friday and responded with a 35 point fantasy night. Saturday on the back-to-back, Kaminsky still had a 37 point fantasy output which put him in a perfect lineup both games. A fade play vs. the solid Jazz defense- but one with potential.

๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ Other Likes ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ€

He'll need a big night to hit value but DeMar DeRozan ($7500) is up against Portland's 25th ranked defense vs. the SF with the 'Blazers on 0 days rest. Josh Hart ($4800) is going to be huge chalk vs. the Warriors but he's the expected starter at SF for New Orleans and has outperformed projections each game so far this year.

Center

Larry Nance, Jr. (DK: $5000, FD; $5900 Y!:$21 )

This could be the minutes night we're looking for from Larry Nance, Jr. and with great value as well. John Henson hurt his hamstring for the Cavs over the weekend and is expected to be out until late November. That should open up minutes for Nance, as would a potential Milwaukee blowout as they are 15 point home favorites. Nance took 11 shots and grabbed 14 rebounds when he got some decent minutes in the opener (30 fantasy points) but only saw 19 minutes of court time Saturday.

Nance also gets a very favorable pace differential for Monday.

๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ Other Likes ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ€

Phoenix has already allowed a 66 point fantasy night to the C position with Ayton out this season (Jokic) which bodes well for Utah's Rudy Gobert ($8000). Al Horford ($6200) had a 23 point, 9 rebound night with Joel Embiid out of the lineup Saturday. Embiid is questionable today as well.

A nice plump night in the NBA for Monday but of course we have to pay the price with only 3 games on the card for Tuesday. Make sure to hit up the always entertaining LineStar chat and follow me, Carl Taylor (@dailydogsports), on Twitter for more DFS and sports betting talk.
