Top NBA Plays 10/29 | Looking at Padding

There's a 3 game card to unpack today in the NBA. It's not a ton of games, but there are still some quality DFS players in action. Each of the games does feature a spread of more than 6 points though, so there is some padding there for the favorites. Let's take a look at how these three break down:

Tonight's DFS Headlines

Atlanta is on leg two of a back-to-back as they visit Miami. Trae Young ($9,000) had 20 shots on Monday vs. the Sixers, but underperformed projections with 41 fantasy points. Jimmy Butler ($7,700) makes his Heat debut after missing the first three games on paternity leave.

Dallas is also in a favorable spot as they travel to the Nuggets. Denver played last night in Sacramento, scoring a 101-94 win. Luka Doncic ($9,500) has back-to-back 60+ point DFS nights. Nikola Jokic ($10,000) had just 33 fp vs. the Kings but played only 28 minutes.

The Lakers are in a blowout spot as -12 point favorites at home vs. Memphis. Can you still build a lineup around Anthony Davis ($10,300) or LeBron James ($9,700)?

Guards

Kendrick Nunn (DK: $6,000 FD: $6,000 Y! $15)

We'll see if Kendrick Nunn is for real today, playing with Jimmy Butler for the 1st time during the regular season. Nunn still has a good matchup with the Hawks who are a) on a back-to-back and b) have Trae Young playing "defense." Nunn had 18,17, and 17 field goal attempts in Butler's absence and has been in a perfect lineup all three nights.

Can Nunn still hit value even though Butler is back?

Jamal Murray (DK: $6,600 FD: $7,600 Y! $29)

Jamal Murray played 31 minutes last night vs. Sacramento, and should have had a better game than his 6-14 night from the field vs. the Kings' back court defense. Murray at least still had his third-straight 30+ point fantasy night and had 14+ field goal attempts for the third consecutive time. The Nuggets are up against a Dallas defense that allowed 37 fp to Lonzo Ball last Friday and gave up 42.75 to Damian Lillard on Sunday. Murray should be able to break 40, even on 0 days rest.

Dallas has had some defensive issues vs. the PG position the last two games.

Tyler Herro (DK: $4,900 FD: $5,200 Y! $14)

Is there a situation where Butler's debut for Miami could actually help a player's production? For one, Butler's presence could assist Miami to a blowout win over an Atlanta team on 0 days rest, meaning more time off the bench for Tyler Herro. The rookie did show good chemistry with Butler in the preseason and could also get a boost in spending court time with the veteran. Herro has back-to-back 20 point fantasy games after going for 30 in his debut. He's worth a fade play vs. an Atlanta defense that has played good - but is fatigued.

๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ Other Likes ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ€

Trae Young ($9,000) is on a B2B but will still be launching with 20+ field goal attempts in each game. Gary Harris ($4,800) has value vs. the Mavs' #25 defense vs. the shooting guard.

Forwards

Kyle Anderson (DK: $3,700 FD: $4,800 Y!: $18)

Kyle Anderson is a good player to plug into the LineStar lineup optimizer so that you can get real-time injury updates prior to tip-off. Anderson could be looking at great minutes off the bench with Memphis in a blowout spot as big underdogs vs. the Lakers. The SF is battling left calf soreness though. He's overshot projections the last two games with minimal minutes, hopefully Anderson can get his P.T. tonight.

Jabari Parker (DK: $4,200 FD: $4,400 Y!: $21)

Bobby Portis scored 28 points off the bench for the Knicks vs. the Bulls last night. Can his former teammate Jabari Parker repeat that feat on Tuesday if he finally sees some minutes? Atlanta is on the back-to-back, but Parker had just 21 minutes on Monday. Deandre Hunter had 30 and John Collins 28, so their usage could be down a bit vs. Miami. The Heat are also -8 favorites, so maybe Atlanta backups play more regardless. Parker has been a fantasy disappointment through 4 games with a high of 20, but he's got value in this spot to see what the Hawks do on their first back-to-back.

Jae Crowder (DK: $5,200 FD: $5,600 Y! $14)

Jae Crowder's minutes should mirror LeBron James' today. Crowder can do some nice compiling in that time. The Memphis PF has gone for 29+ fantasy points in three straight games and actually got 13 field goal attempts on Friday night vs. the Bulls.

Crowder is an oft-overlooked DFS option.

๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ Other Likes ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ€

Brandon Clarke ($5,100) could be a nice value play off the bench with Memphis getting blown out, especially if Anderson can't go. Can Kevin Huerter ($3,600) with Atlanta on the back-to-back?

Center

Kristaps Porzingis (DK: $8,200, FD; $9,000 Y!:$35 )

Kristaps Porzingis has the athletic advantage over Nikola Jokic. With Denver being on the B2B, Porzingis could also see more time vs. the Nuggets front court reserves. The Unicorn is averaging 20 field goal attempts per game the last two and had his best fantasy production last time out. with 56 FPTS.

๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ Other Likes ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ€

Anthony Davis ($10,300) had a 60 point fantasy night in his last game but may have a hard time finding value vs. Memphis. It is a small slate though and AD or Nikola Jokic ($10,000) are probably your only two higher scoring C's to build around.

The card opens up a bit on Wednesday with 11 games back on tap. Until then, make sure to hit up the always entertaining LineStar chat and follow me, Carl Taylor (@dailydogsports), on Twitter for more DFS and sports betting talk.
