Top NBA Plays 1/10 | 40/40 Club Redux
After Andrew Wiggins on Tuesday and Kyle Kuzma last night, the LineStar Daily Dribble is feeling like Jay-Z in the 40/40 (points) Club. It's going to be hard to continue that streak on Thursday with just four games on the schedule but there are some opportunities out there. Let's Run this Town but get out of the Empire State of Mind because the Knicks aren't playing tonight (thankfully) - and they've got way more than 99 Problems.
Tonight's Headline Games
The Boston Celtics are -2.5 favorites on the road despite playing Indiana last night. The Miami Heat are the home 'dogs but Boston was largely able to rest their starters after beating the Pacers by 27 points. Jaylen Brown ($4,500) has value after scoring 22 points in 28 minutes.
The Detroit Pistons are also in a B2B at the Sacramento Kings last night. Detroit lost by 13 at the Lakers last night and might have burned up their big men as Andre Drummond (32:14) and Blake Griffin (37:16) saw significant court time.
The San Antonio Spurs (+1.5) are 7-3 over their last 10, hosting the OKC Thunder who are in the midst of a two game skid. Can Paul George ($9,800) be tonight's 40-point scorer vs. the Spurs 26th ranked defense vs. the SF and who are also on a B2B?
Finally, the Denver Nuggets (-6) have won 6 of 7 and have a lot of DFS potential at home vs. the Los Angeles Clippers. Nikola Jokic ($10,500) has four straight games of 24 points and 11 rebounds and LAC isn't that strong up front.
Guards
Malik Beasley (DK: $3,800, FD: $3,900 Y! $11)
Malik Beasley has been a huge disappointment lately, scoring just 43 fantasy points combined the last three games. Some of that could be blamed on Gary Harris returning, but Beasley had just 9 points in 36 minutes vs. Miami last game with Harris out of the lineup. Harris is questionable again Thursday and Beasley will be primed for a breakout game if he see's the same type of minutes. Beasley shines better in the faster paced games (+52%) not the bog down 103-99 game that the Heat got them into.
Langston Galloway (DK: $3,100 FD: $3,500 Y! $10)
Langston Galloway had a hot shooting night vs. the Lakers on Wednesday, shooting 5-6 from three point range. Detroit is in a B2B on Thursday but Galloway played just 14 minutes last night. Starting PG Reggie Jackson logged 31, however, and should wear down against Sacramento's fast paced offense that is 2nd in the league in possessions per game. That should open up time for Galloway who should see 10-12 field goal attempts.
Derrick White (DK: $4,900 FD: $5,500 Y! $16)
Derrick White has gone for 26+ fantasy point nights in 6 of the last 7. The Spurs are on a back-to-back tonight but luckily White got into foul trouble vs. Memphis and played just 16 minutes. DFS owners were irked at the time, but he can reward them tonight. Patty Mills ended up logging 30 minutes, so his usage should be limited on the B2B - opening up lots of court time for White.
Forwards
Montrezl Harrell (DK: $6,500, FD; $7,600 Y! $24 )
The price for Montrezl Harrell tonight is a perfect example of overpaying on a small card. With so few options however, he could be worth a floor play. He's had two 48 point fantasy nights in his last seven - both were at home however. The Clippers are at Denver tonight and Harrell has scored just 19, 20, and 28 fantasy points in his last three road games. The Nuggets are still 28th vs. the PF backups, however. Worth a shot?
Jayson Tatum (DK: $6,000, FD: $6,100 Y! $26 )
The Miami Heat are 29th vs. SF starters over the past five games which points to a big night for Jayson Tatum. The Celtics are on a B2B but destroyed Indiana last night, which allowed them to conserve their minutes. Tatum scored 20 points in 25 minutes and has 29 point fantasy nights in 5 of 6. The Heat have allowed 35+ point fantasy nights to three SF in a row to the likes of Kevin Huerter, Torrey Craig, and Trevor Ariza.
Jerami Grant (DK: $4,800 FD: $5,400 Y! $19)
The Thunder are in a favorable spot today vs. a Spurs team that dropped an 86-96 contest in Memphis last night. San Antonio is playing their 3rd game in 4 nights yet are underdogs of less than a basket. Jerami Grant could exceed his projections vs. the Spurs' 22nd ranked defense vs. the PF. Grant has had a couple down fantasy nights (16 and 18 fp) but did have an 11 game streak of double digit scoring . Nerlens Noel being out increases Grant's usage slightly.
Centers
Willie Cauley-Stein (DK: $6,600 FD: $7,500 Y! $25)
Normally Detroit's size up front would limit the effectiveness of Willie Cauley-Stein, especially against the top rebounder in the league Andre Drummond. The Pistons are on a B2B, however, and Drummond logged a lot of minutes in LA last night. Cauley-Stein could see Marvin Bagley III take some court time, as he's back from a knee injury but you like WCS's upside in this one. Cauley-Stein has two 40+ point fantasy nights in his last three games and has double digit rebounds in 4 of 6.
Kelly Olynyk ( DK: $3,900, FD: $4,600 Y! $10)
Tonight, Kelly Olynyk finally gets revenge against his old team, the Boston Celtics. OK, that's a stretch but that's what you do on a 4-game slate. Hassan Whiteside is probably going to have a nice game vs. the Celtics front court, Olynyk could provide 20-25 fantasy points off the bench. He did erupt for 32 points and 7 rebounds when the teams last met up in December of 2017, although that came with Whiteside out of the lineup. Olynyk has averaged 10 field goal attempts the last two games, which is a positive.
We've made it through light duty and now have 9 games on tap for Friday night. Look me up (@dailydogsports) on Twitter for more of a sports betting angle to tonight's NBA docket.
