Top NBA Plays 11/1 | Getting Fizzy With It
The Knicks are in action on Friday so it's time to play the Fizz'd On card. It's nothing (that) personal against the New York coach, just a microcosm of DFS as a whole. You do all your research and crunch all your numbers just to have a coach decide he only wants to play a great matchup for like 8 minutes. Do you let your Golden Retriever pick any Knicks to roster tonight (like David Fizdale apparently does) - or do you avoid them altogether and make it a 15 team slate?
It's the end of the week but the 1st of November. Time for new beginnings and to start building that bankroll for Christmas - or at least just a really fulfilling visit to Popeye's for Thanksgiving.
Tonight's DFS Headlines
Andre Drummond ($9500) looks like a great option to build a lineup around when Detroit visits Chicago (CHI -3.5, O/U 216.5). The Pistons are very banged up and the Bulls are horrible vs. the C position - and also fighting injuries down low.
The game for points on Friday is definitely the Rockets at the Nets. Houston is a 4-point favorite in this one, but the number that sticks out is the whopping 241.5 total. Brooklyn ranks 2nd in the NBA in possessions per game while the Rockets rank 5th, so there will be opportunities. Kyrie, Harden, and Russ can't take all the shots in this game...can they?
Anthony Davis ($10,600) has been in a perfect lineup all four games this season and exploded for 74 fp last game while making 26 FTs and grabbing 20 rebounds. The Lakers are expected to be in a close one today as they visit the Mavs (LAL -1.5, O/U 216.5). Davis is battling a shoulder issue though, so make sure to use the LineStar Lineup Optimizer with real time injury updates.
Cleveland at Indiana doesn't exactly scream Showtime era Lakers, but there are some solid DFS options in this game. Kevin Love is coming off a 20 rebound night but he looks like the organic food aisle with a sky high price tag of $9300. Speaking of sticker shock, Malcolm Brogdon has two 55+ fp nights in his last three but will set you back $8800 tonight. The best value in this one may be Tristan Thompson ($6800) who, unbeknownst to the world, is averaging 20.3 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game.
It's another night to fire up the flux capacitor known as the LineStar Usage Matrix. Trae Young was out for Atlanta on Thursday which led to a 46 fp night for his backup Deandre Bembry. The Warriors begin a month without Steph Curry tonight vs. a Spurs team that is on 0 days rest. Is it D'Angelo Time? Draymond Hour? Willie Cauley-Stein - O'Clock?
Guards
Spencer Dinwiddie (DK: $5,300 FD: $5,900 Y! $19)
There's great value on the Nets' Spencer Dinwiddie in a tilt vs. Houston where the ball is going to go from basket to basket like a ping pong game. Brooklyn is 2nd and Houston 5th in possessions per game. These two teams are also in the bottom 10 of defensive efficiency on the season. Dinwiddie had 17 field goal attempts last game and has at least 5 assists in each of the last three. Houston just gave up a 17 point, 10 assist night off the PG bench to Isaiah Thomas on Wednesday in just his 14th game in the last 20 months. Brooklyn is also in game one of a B2B, so could the starters minutes be curtailed a bit?
It was an OT game and a lot of the faces have changed, but Dinwiddie had 33 points and 10 assists when Brooklyn and Houston tangled last January.
Derrick White (DK: $5200 FD: $5,400 Y! $15)
There's going to be a lot of targeting Derrick White today but how could you not a) for that price and b) in a matchup against the Warriors 30th ranked defensive efficiency team. The Spurs are on a back-to-back, but White played just 25 minutes in the loss to the Clippers with Dejounte Murray getting the start. Murray is already listed as out for Friday due to rest (knee) which means White moves back into the starting lineup. White still had a good game vs. the Clippers with 20 points, 2 assists, and 5 rebounds in limited action. Might as well do it again vs. the Curry-less Warriors. Only thing you worry about here is a Spurs blowout and an inexplicable 40 fantasy point night from Lonnie Walker, whom Popovich called 'horrible' last night.
Derrick Rose (DK: $5,700 FD: $5,700 Y! $22)
Plug this play into the LineStar App lineup optimizer because Derrick Rose is a game time decision. It is 'just' hamstring soreness that Rose has been battling so there's a better chance than not he sees the court today. This is especially true because Rose is back home in Chicago against a Bulls team ranked 19th in the league giving up 111 points/game. Rose has been a nice find in his first year with the Pistons. He has a season high of 47 fp and has 16+ field goal attempts in 3 of the last 4. Rose also dished out 10 assists Wednesday at Toronto.

Jeremy Lamb ($5,600) injured his hip in the opener but bounced back Wednesday with a 36 fp night and 19 field goal attempts. That was against Brooklyn's fast pace though and Lamb might not be able to repeat that vs. Cleveland today. Also, watch out for somebody random having a big night for the Spurs - potentially Patty Mills ($3,500)?
Forwards
Bojan Bogdanovic (DK: $5,400 FD: $5300 Y!: $21)
Is it too soon to go back to Bojan Bogdanovic after Wednesday's measly 21 fantasy points? Bogdanovic had posted 44 and 37 fantasy points in his two previous games to land in a perfect lineup each time. We'll chalk it up to a bad game and after all, Friday is "Bogdanovic Bowl II" when Utah visits Bogdan (no relation) and Sacramento. These two teams met up last Saturday in Salt Lake City and Bojan had 26 points and 4 rebounds. The Kings are 0-5 and also have the league's 4th worst defensive efficiency team.
Danuel House, Jr. (DK: $4,000 FD: $4,500 Y!: $10)
Make the House call on Danuel tonight because of a) his value and b) there's going to be plenty of fantasy points to go around, as the Brooklyn / Houston total is 241.5. Danuel House, Jr. has put up some decent numbers with a 34 point fantasy night Wednesday at Washington and going for 29 fp two games prior vs. the Pelicans. The pace (on paper) is going to be crazy in this game and House, Jr. is in a good spot as the Nets are allowing 31.1 fppg to the SF over the past 20 games. On a night of crazy pricing, it's time to take this House off the market.
Rudy Gay (DK: $4700 FD: $4600 Y! $18)
This is a great price for Rudy Gay with the potential. This is because San Antonio is on a back-to-back, but up against a depleted Golden State squad. Who knows what the greatest showman Gregg Popovich will pull out of his sleeve in terms of usage, however. Either way it's looking good for Gay, who played just 26 minutes in the 6 point loss to the Clippers on Thursday. DeMar DeRozan and Lamarcus Aldridge both logged 35+ and are no spring chickens so why burn them out vs. the Warriors? Unless Popovich wants to beat Golden State by 45 that is. Gay had 9 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 assists in his limited time last night for a solid 30 fantasy points at $4.5k. No reason to think he can't approach 40 with more minutes and against the league's worst defensive efficiency team.

The Bulls aren't scoring any points right now, but Lauri Markkanen ($7500) is up against a Detroit team that has allowed 40+ fantasy points to all five starting PFs they've faced. Domantas Sabonis should have OK numbers and play PF and C with Myles Turner out, but $8700 is a good starting price that would be bartered down to $7500 at a car dealership.
Center
Andre Drummond (DK: $9,500, FD; $10,100 Y!:$48 )
Yes, he's pricey but also has the ability to get spicy vs. Chicago. Andre Drummond is averaging 20 rebounds per the last two games and has 15 and 17 field goal attempts over that span. Detroit will definitely be without Blake Griffin and Reggie Jackson, but Derrick Rose and Markieff Morris are also listed as GTD so the Pistons scoring options may be limited. Yes, Chicago could just key on Drummond then, but the Bulls are also banged up in the front court with Wendell Carter, Jr. playing with basically one eye. Plus the Bulls just gave up a 23 point, 10 rebound night to Tristan Thompson - and that was with Carter in the lineup.
It looked like the Bulls were doing good vs. the C, but only because opposing minutes were cut. Look at what Thompson did with regular usage.

Tristan Thompson ($6800) will draw a lot of eyes tonight after posting 49+ fp in two of the last three. Indiana is also without Myles Turner in that matchup. Anthony Davis ($10,600) is a pretty big risk at that price considering he is a GTD with a shoulder injury. The LineStar Lineup Matrix also likes Willie Cauley-Stein ($4,500) with a 9.3% usage increase with Curry and Looney out of the lineup.
