Top NBA Plays 11/21 | Getting Your Stuffing a Day Early
Today's LineStar Daily Dribble is dedicated to the 2005 Lindsay Lohan movie Herbie because tonight's NBA docket is “fully loaded.” Schedule makers are getting us ready to overindulge on turkey tomorrow by giving us a gravy bowl full of 13 games tonight! I'm Carl Taylor (@dailydogsports) once again filling in for Greg Landry and I'll be here the rest of the week, just like your boozed up family member that keeps on lingering at your house long after a holiday dinner.
Games That Stand Out At First Glance
4 of the 8 teams that played last night are once again in action on Wednesday, presenting some nice back-to-back opportunities.
The New York Knicks hung tight with Portland last night, losing 114-118 but are expected to get fully dominated tonight with oddsmakers setting the Celtics -14 favorites in Boston. Speaking of the Trailblazers, how much does their matchup with Milwaukee lose luster considering Portland has to play that game on leg two of a B2B? (MIL -5.5)
The Nets scored an upset 104-92 win over Miami last night but will it be a big night for Mavs players as they host Brooklyn tonight? (DAL -5.5)
How much is LeBron going to burn up our DFS budgets tonight as the Lakers travel to Cleveland as James is home for the holidays? (LAL -9)
The Timberwolves are 7-2 at home this season but continue to get no love from oddsmakers as they are favored by just -2 vs. the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday.
New Orleans visits Philadelphia (PHI -4.5) in a game with huge DFS implications as oddsmakers have set the O/U at a whopping 236.
Charlotte and Indiana also meet up in a sneaky good matchup that will test if Kemba Walker can keep rolling against the Pacers' elite defense. Golden State is favored by just a point vs. OKC. The Bulls are favored for just the 2nd time this season as they host the Suns. And it could be a big night for Jazz players as they are favored by nearly double digits in what could be a very fast paced game vs. the Kings.
On to the DFS outlook...
Guards
Kyrie Irving (DK: $9,000 FD: $9,000 Y! $37)
If you're going to spend for a G tonight, there is probably no safer bet for productivity than Kyrie Irving. First off, he's up against a New York team that is not only a) second to last in defensive efficiency but also b) playing in leg two of a back-to-back. In his last three games, Irving has a 43 point night and a 27 point output while also going for 11 assists twice in that span. Even his rebounding numbers have been efficient, with a 5.0 average the last three games. Portland's backcourt of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum combined for 60 points last night vs. the Knicks, so Irving should be a very solid play Wednesday night.
Luka Doncic (DK: $6,800 FD: $7,600 Y! $29)
On paper, this wouldn't look like a great matchup for Luka Doncic vs. the Nets because Brooklyn only allows 25.2 FPPG and 2.4 AST/G to SG starters. The Nets played in Miami last night and now must travel to Dallas however while three players in the Brooklyn backcourt logged 28-33 minutes on Tuesday. Plus, Doncic has just transcended the game in his rookie season. He's scored 22+ in 4 of the last 7 but has also put up solid rebounding numbers with 6+ in eight straight games.
CJ McCollum (DK: $6,400 FD: $6,700 Y! $25)
There's going to be a lot of attention on Lillard tonight and overall, CJ McCollum's ownership should be down because Portland is playing in a back-to-back situation. That's a good thing, however, as McCollum is in a great spot against a Milwaukee team that he lit up for 40 points 15 days ago. McCollum has 23+ points in 5 of his last 7. He did log 38 minutes yesterday, so he's a risk – but one well worth taking.
Forwards
TJ Warren (DK: $6,700 FD: $7,000 Y! $30)
The Suns are underdogs in their game in Chicago tonight but is anybody going to bet on the Bulls with actual confidence? Sure, Phoenix is 0-7 on the road this year but the Bulls are just 2-7 at the United Center. If the Suns do score the upset win, it will likely be because of a big game from TJ Warren. Chicago doesn't exactly like to play defense (24th in efficiency) especially down low where rookie Wendell Carter, Jr. and the mannequin of Jabari “they don't pay players to play defense” Parker control the paint. The Bulls are allowing 29.9 FPPG to PF starters which includes over 7 rebounds per game. At the very least, Warren should get opportunity as he's logged 39.1 minutes on average the past 3 games.
Jae Crowder (DK: $4,400 FD: $4,800 Y! $16)
With such a full slate, you have to take some reaches to afford top tier players and one of those grasps for Wednesday is Jae Crowder. He's in a favorable pace game as Utah hosts a Sacramento team that is 2nd in the league in possessions/game. The Kings also allow 27 ppg to opposing SF and just got torched for 27 and 9 by Paul George. Crowder had 14 points, 4 assists, and 5 rebounds in just 25 minutes last time out vs. the Pacers. He should see his usage increase tonight for a fatigued Jazz team that is playing their sixth straight road game on Wednesday.
Brandon Ingram (DK: $5,900 FD: $6,300 Y! $24)
Everybody is expecting a huge game from LeBron as he returns to The Land tonight but the big question is..."why?" James doesn't harbor any ill will towards Cleveland, as he left on good terms and the city will forever be indebted to him for bringing a championship back home. If LeBron doesn't have that killer instinct tonight, then somebody on the Lakers is going to step up, as LA is favored by -9 tonight. Brandon Ingram should be that player. He's up against a Cavs team that is last in defensive efficiency while giving up 32 FPPG to SF starters, which also includes 3.8 AST and 6.4 FG. Ingram's production goes up 46% when well rested and the Lakers haven't played in three days. Ingram has logged eight games of 30 minutes or more in his last 10, so he should see the court plenty tonight.
Centers
Karl-Anthony Towns (DK $8,800 FD: $10,000 Y!43)
There's actually some decent value on Karl-Anthony Towns, at least on DraftKings where he's just the 6th costliest C on the board tonight. KAT has been a mad man lately scoring 39, 25, and 25 points in the three games right after Jimmy Butler left Minneapolis. Towns has seen his point totals drop the last two, scoring 14 and 15, respectively. One thing he's going to give you is rebounds though, grabbing 16+ in 4 of the last 5 games. Denver is a top 8 team in boards and Towns does have kind of a tough matchup with the Nuggets' Nikola Jokic. That being said, the T'Wolves are rested, playing their 5th straight home contest on Wednesday.
DeAndre Jordan (DK $7,100 FD: $7,500 Y!26)
At the very least, DJ should grab some boards tonight, as he's gone double digits in rebounds in all but one game this season. The truth is DeAndre Jordan also has potential for a big offensive night as Brooklyn is giving up 6.8 FG/game to opposing C. Jordan had 17 points and 20 rebounds in 38 minutes vs. Memphis last time out and he's up against a Nets team playing in their second game in two nights. Jordan should see another high usage night as Dallas went just 8 players deep in their rotation on Monday and could be missing Dennis Smith, Jr. tonight, as he's Q with an illness.
Domantis Sabonis (DK $6,500 FD: $7,100 Y!22)
Domantis Sabonis could have a big under-the-radar night if he can get some minutes against Cody Zeller and the Hornets. The great thing about the Indiana big man is that he hasn't needed a whole lot of usage to put up numbers this year. Sabonis had 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 9 assists in just 26 minutes vs. Utah on Monday – how do you not play him more? Sabonis has four 11+ rebound games in his last 6, all while logging more than 26 minutes just twice. The Hornets are allowing 24+ points on 53% FG shooting to opposing C this season.
Hopefully this list is a solid mix of studs as well as some diamonds in the rough so you can afford more studs. Traditionally, football rules the sports world on Thanksgiving and indeed, there are no NBA games on the schedule for tomorrow. All that means is an extra day of research and that all teams will be fresh for a massive 14 game docket on Black Friday. Until then, enjoy your time with family, friends, and food and we'll see you back here Friday for some red hot deals!
