Top NBA Plays 1/14| Sifting Through the Rubble

Never a dull moment in the NBA huh? Right after the Daily Dribble was sent out yesterday a 💣Woj Bomb💣 exploded with the news of James Harden going to the Nets as part of a multi-player deal.

There's really not a whole lot of DFS winners in this trade. It's going to be 🎰Ceiling Roulette🎰 with Durant, Harden, and Irving every night, Caris LeVert goes from launching off the bench in a fast pace to splitting shots with Brogdon and Sabonis in Indy. Jarrett Allen had just been named starter only to head to Cleveland to back up Andre Drummond.

We've got a 5-game Thursday slate to sift through before the news of Karl-Anthony Towns to the Suns or Bradley Beal to the Sixers is announced. Let's see what we got.

Today's NBA Matchups

Heat @ Sixers (-10.5) , O/U 222.5, 7:00 PM ET

We'd be happy with a rematch of Tuesday's 137-134 Sixers win in OT. Both teams are likely sending the same depleted rosters out so this one could get wild again.

Hornets @ Raptors (-8) , O/U 220.5 7:30 PM ET

Charlotte seems like a strange 8-point underdog even though they are in the back-to-back. Toronto is just 2-8 on the year, but they have had the last two nights off after consecutive 1-point losses to Golden State and Portland.

Notable Injuries: Gordon Hayward left last night with a hip strain but is probable.

Rockets @ Spurs (-8) , O/U 221.5 7:30 PM ET

It's going to be a usage guessing game for the Rockets in their first game post-Harden. John Wall got the biggest boost without the beard (+6 usage, +12fp) but he's hurt and Victor Oladipo isn't ready to make his debut yet. Should be a big spot for Spurs players.

Notable Injuries: John Wall (knee), Eric Gordon (leg), and Danuel House (back) are out. DeMar DeRozan has missed time lately tending to his father but is likely back tonight.

Warriors @ Nuggets (-5), O/U 222 8:00 PM ET

The Nuggets are back home after a three game trip out East and host a Warriors team that has started to buckle down on defense, holding five straight opponents to 108 or less.

Pacers @ Trail Blazers (-3), O/U 229 10:00 PM ET

Indiana won't debut Caris LeVert just yet, so they are a bit shorthanded tonight. That evens out a meeting with the Trail Blazers on the back to back, who beat Sacramento 132-126 last night with Damian Lillard playing 42 minutes on what was supposed to be an injured ankle.

Notable Injuries: TJ McConnell is supposed to return after the birth of his son.

Tonight's Point Guard / Shooting Guard Notables

Steph Curry DK $9.7 k | FD $9.6k

Curry has just 20 and 11 real points in the last two games, but that came against a couple usually stout defenses in Indiana and Toronto. Curry heads to Denver tonight, to face a Nuggets team that has allowed a 75 fp night to Luka Doncic and 60+ to Tyrese Maxey at the PG spot over the last week.

Malcolm Brogdon DK $8.3k | FD $8.6k

Brogdon gets a 4% usage boost and a 6.81 fp increase without Victor Oladipo. LeVert will dip into that when he joins the Pacers, but until then you have to like Brogdon vs. a Portland team on the back-to-back after a fast paced game with Sacramento last night.

Lots of usage available with the departure of Oladipo.

Tyler Herro DK $7.3k | FD $6.5

That's great FD pricing for Tyler Herro playing in the shorthanded Heat lineup and launching 20+ the last two games. Herro had 34/7/4 in Tuesday's meeting with Philly and we'd take close to that in the rematch. Miami really doesn't have anybody else.

Lonnie Walker IV $5.6k | FD $5.2k

Sign me up for this play as Lonnie Walker IV gets a matchup with a shorthanded Houston team that ranks 18th in defensive efficiency. The Rockets may actually get better without Harden guarding the SG, but Walker has launched 15+ in the last two games without DeRozan.

David Nwaba DK $3.2k | FD $4.8k

Never mind the fact that David Nwaba gets a 7.33% usage and 14fp boost with Wall, Harden, House, and possibly Gordon out of the lineup...it's his 🎂Birthday Boy🎂 play.

Tonight's SF / PF Notables

Christian Wood DK $7.7k | FD $8.1k

Quite frankly who else is going to shoot for Houston tonight? John Wall's out, Victor Oladipo hasn't joined the team yet, Danuel House and Eric Gordon are also banged up. Wood has 17+ shots in three straight and should see 25 tonight.

Chris Boucher $6.5k | FD $7.8k

The Raptors have had the last two nights off, facing a Charlotte team on the b2b. Chris Boucher is shooting 57% from the field this season, and has gone for 15+ points and 6+ boards in three straight - and had 6 blocks vs. Golden State over that span.

Kelly Olynyk DK $6.4k | FD $5.3k

We know he's going to be on the court because Kelly Olynyk played 45 minutes in the OT loss to Philadelphia on Tuesday. The big man is a stat compiler, posting at least 15/6/4 the last two games while Miami deals with health and safety protocols.

Duncan Robinson DK $5.5k | FD $4.9k

I mean, you have to play at that FD price right? The Heat barely have 8 players, and Duncan Robinson scored a season high 26 real points on also a season high 18 shots. That's the kind of confidence booster we need heading into a rematch with Philly.

Rudy Gay DK $5k | FD $4.5k

Rudy Gay is worth a play in a game that could get ugly. The Rockets essentially go into rebuild mode overnight, and with Wall, Gordon, etc. likely out too the Spurs go for 125 easy.

Tonight's Center Position Notables

Joel Embiid DK $10k | FD $10.2k

Joel Embiid gets the same matchup as he did in Tuesday's 🍔80 Burger🍔posting 45 points and 16 boards against the Adebayo-less Heat. Embiid has a double-double in five of the last six.

Demarcus Cousins DK $4.7k | FD $4.6k

You like the upside in what is basically an 🔎Unknown Game🔍 as Houston moves on from Harden but is also very banged up. Boogie has a 32 and a 44 in his last four games.
