Top NBA Plays 11/8 | A Cute Angle
Is it time to start scrapping the revenge angle? Last night Kemba Walker and Terry Rozier squared off against the respective teams that traded them - combining for a whopping 17 real points and just 38 total fantasy points. Maybe we'll scrap the revenge angle for now - or at least until Joel Embiid and Karl-Anthony Towns meet up again on March 24th.
That doesn't mean there aren't avenues to explore to a game beyond the analytics. Theo Epstein has talked about how he used the 80/20 rule when signing a player - 80% data and 20% intangibles or 'gut' feeling. There's plenty of opportunity to put that plan in motion tonight with a jam-packed 11 games on tap heading into the weekend. Let's see if there are any revenge angles we can find and completely scrap that idea of not using revenge angles.
Tonight's DFS Headlines
On paper, it's a great battle of big men when Joel Embiid ($10,400) and the Sixers visit Nikola Jokic ($8500) and the Nuggets. The free fall continues for Jokic who has a high of 46 fantasy points in his last 5 games. His nickname is in danger of going from "The Joker" to just "Krispy Kreme" but some people may go back to the well considering Jokic averaged 29/14/10 in two games vs. Philly last year.
The days of Curry, Durant, and Thompson are long gone in the Bay, as Golden State now turns to the likes of Eric Paschall ($6,600) and Ky Bowman ($5,500). It should still be a good night for Warriors players vs. the Timberwolves #2 ranked pace. D'Angelo Russell ($8400) is probable to get back in the lineup for GSW.
Blake Griffin ($7900) has been cleared for basketball activities and has a chance to get in the lineup for Detroit vs. Indiana tonight. Is Griffin's return going to put a dent in Andre Drummond's ($10,500) 19 rebounds per game average?
One of the games with a total in the 230s is Toronto traveling to New Orleans. Brandon Ingram's ($8100) price seems to have crested but he's gone for 55+ fantasy points in 3 of the last 5. Pascal Siakam ($8,800) hasn't produced much of a ceiling for that price with just one game above 50+ fp since the season opener.
The other big number O/U is the Nets at Portland (233). The Blazers are in a back-to-back, however, with Damian Lillard ($9,000) and CJ McCollum ($6,000) both logging 38+ minutes last night vs. the Clippers.
Guards
Damion Lee (DK: $4,600 FD: $4600 Y! $10)
Damion Lee will receive a little bit of a dent with D'Angelo Russell returning from an ankle injury tonight. That being said, the minutes were there regardless of whether Russell was in or out of the lineup, as Lee has 25+ minutes in 5 of the last 6. He has at least 11 FG attempts in 3 of those games. What you really like about Lee tonight is that he's in an up-paced game, as Minnesota is 2nd in the league in possessions per game. The T'Wolves are also battling some back court injuries with Jeff Teague being out and Shabazz Napier listed as a GTD.
Luckily for Golden State and Minnesota it's open enrollment for health care coverage. That's a lot of injuries.
Jamal Murray (DK: $6500 FD: $6800 Y! $27)
Jamal Murray is in a nice pace differential game for Denver tonight vs. Philadelphia. Ben Simmons being out for the Sixers also helps the Nuggets back court, you just hope they continue to run at the same pace. Nikola Jokic played well against the Sixers last year, averaging 70 fp the last two. If he can return to some of that glory, it will help Murray's assist numbers tonight. Either way the Nuggets G has been consistent, with 30+ fantasy points in 5 of 7. He has at least 14 fg's in all but one game during that span.
Isaiah Thomas (DK: $5100 FD: $5500 Y! $14)
Did somebody say REVENGE ANGLE? Isaiah Thomas is up against a team he has no loved lost with in the Cavs. A guy like Kemba Walker or Terry Rozier, they might not take things personal against a former team. That's not really how I.T. rolls. This could be an 'enigma game' where Thomas launches 20 shots in 20 minutes of court time. For $5,100 that's the only data you need.

D'Angelo Russell should be ready to launch back in the lineup for Golden State. Any Nets guards vs. a very tired Portland back court are also a solid play.
Forwards
T.J. Warren (DK: $6,100 FD: $6,700 Y!: $27)
Is everybody going to sour on T.J. Warren now that Domantas Sabonis is back for the Pacers? To quote Lee Corso before a huge college football weekend coming up tomorrow, "not so fast my friend." Jeremy Lamb has now gone to the injury report for Indiana, so Warren's recent success has a chance to continue. The Pacers F had a 21 point, 4 rebound night with Lamb out and Sabonis in on Wednesday. He has 15+ field goal attempts in each of the last three games and has a 49 and a 39 point fantasy night mixed in there. A possible matchup with a fatigued Blake Griffin making his first game appearance of the year? OK, sounds good.
Will Barton (DK: $5,300 FD: $5,800 Y!: $18)
Great price point for Will Barton here playing against Philadelphia's top 10 team in possessions per game. The Sixers are 5th in the league in defensive efficiency, but will be without Ben Simmons for the short term. Barton has put up some solid numbers as of late, grabbing 9+ rebounds in three straight while hoisting 14, 16, and 10 shots over that span. He did miss two games during that stretch with a toe injury, but returned with a 15/10/4 line in 32 minutes vs. the Heat on Tuesday.
Caris Levert (DK: $6400 FD: $6700 Y! $25)
Normally this would be kind of a rough spot for Caris Levert up against Portland's top 10 defense vs. the small forward. The Trail Blazers were in a battle with the Clippers last night though, draining their resources in a 101-107 loss. They may not be the same caliber of player, but Kawhi Leonard went for 27/13/4 from the SF position vs. Portland last night. Levert continues to get a ton of shots, with 15+ in 5 straight games. He also added 7 rebounds and 5 assists last game. Should be some easy buckets available for the Nets tonight.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is always a good player to build around and he's gone for 60+ in three straight.
Center
Karl-Anthony Towns (DK: $10,300, FD; $11,500 Y!:$53 )
It's never a bad thing to build a lineup around Karl-Anthony Towns, despite his usually high price tag. That sentiment continues tonight against a Golden State team missing Kevon Looney and Draymond Green in the front court. The Warriors have allowed 3 C's in perfect lineups through the first couple weeks of the season including 57 fantasy point nights to Aron Baynes and Clint Capela. Towns is projected for 61 tonight, but a 70 is attainable if the minutes are there.

Hassan Whiteside ($6500) provided some value last night but the big man isn't built for back-to-backs. Rudy Gobert has been putting up some nice rebounding numbers (12.5/g) but can he actually maybe get some shots too as the Jazz play Milwaukee in a high possession game?
