Top NBA Plays 1/2 | Getting 2020 Started Right
Happy New Year everybody. Cheers to a great 2020 NBA DFS season. The league has given us a 9-game slate to tackle as everybody tries to cure the college bowl game hangover.
It's time for Baby New Year to get up and get a job, he's 2 days old now and the real world sleeps for no one.
Tonight's DFS Headlines
Hornets @ Cavs
Cleveland 'bigs' have the #1 dVp matchup of the night as Charlotte is 30th vs. the C spot and 28th vs. the PF. Could the Cavs be in a ๐ฃBlowout Game ๐ฃ?The Hornets have lost 6 straight with 3 of the last 4 coming by double figures.
Nuggets @ Pacers
This would be a contrarian game to target with the #8 and #9 teams in defensive efficiency meeting up in a contest with a betting total of just 209, the lowest of the night.
Raptors @ Heat
Pascal Siakam, Norman Powell (shoulder), and Marc Gasol (hamstring) all continue to be out for Toronto. The Heat just gave up 123 points on Monday to a Washington team playing basically a G-League roster though.
Jazz @ Bulls
From a betting standpoint, the Utah -3.5 spread at Chicago seems like a trap play. The Jazz have won 8 of their last 9, while three Bulls starters have made the injury report. A blowout seems likely on paper, but not according to the odds.
Warriors @ Timberwolves
The Wolves seem to be adjusting to life without Karl-Anthony Towns (knee) and Andrew Wiggins (illness) as they lost to the Bucks by just 2 points yesterday. Even so, it's hard for a team that banged up (Teague, Graham, Vonleh all questionable tonight) to go on 0 days rest.
Nets @ Mavericks
Can Luka Doncic ($12k) go for a 72 fp night as the Mavs return home after 3 on the road vs. the Nets' #28 ranked dVp at the PG? That's more of a possibility if Tim Hardaway, Jr. and Kristaps Porzingis continue to be out of the lineup for Dallas.
Thunder @ Spurs
Despite their struggles at times this season, the Spurs might not be a bad team to target tonight as they've won 9 straight over the Thunder in San Antonio.
Grizzlies @ Kings
Sacramento is getting to be a team that is very hard to watch with their slow methodical pace that is dead last in the league. The Kings had a 17 and a 14 point quarter on Tuesday as they ran their losing streak to 8 games.
Pistons @ Clippers
There's real ๐ฃBlowout Game ๐ฃpotential is at the Staples Center, as Detroit is over a dozen point underdogs at the Clippers. Morris, Griffin, and Kennard are all also likely out for the Pistons.
Guards
Coby White DK $4.6k | FD $4.5k
Coby White is shooting well and seeing minutes in his last two games, both at home. Chicago plays their 3rd straight at the United Center tonight. The rookie is 15-29 from the field including 5 of 9 from three point range the last two. Zach LaVine (shoulder) and Tomas Satoransky (ankle) will both likely play tonight, but are hobbled a bit by injuries. That should mean more court time for White.
Damion Lee DK $6.6k | FD $6k
No D'Angelo Russell tonight for Golden State and the Warriors are up against a Minnesota team missing Andrew Wiggins, Jeff Teague, and Treveon Graham in the back court and also playing on the back-to-back. Lee has taken at least 13 shots in three straight games and is putting up immaculate numbers in boards, with an average of 10.5 over the last four, including a 12 and 15 rebound night.
Terry Rozier DK $6.8k | FD $6.2k
It's a ๐ Hometown Game๐ as Youngstown native Terry Rozier returns home to face the Cavs. This definitely seems to be a valid narrative ahead of tonight's game, as Rozier went for 35 points while hoisting 15 three pointers at Cleveland on December 18th.
๐๐ Other Likes / Dislikes ๐๐
Joe Ingles ($5.9k) struggled last game, but hit at least 6X value in the three games prior and gets a 20% boost on 2+ days rest.
A lot of people like Lou Williams ($6.3k) tonight getting the start for Patrick Beverley and being well-rested (court wise at least) after missing the last game for the birth of his baby.
The Spurs gave up a 40+ fp night to Shabazz Napier last time out and allowed Trae Young to go for 67 fp a few games prior. Luka Doncic could definitely hit value then, even at 12k.
Forwards
Kevin Love DK $8k | FD $7.2k
It's an interesting DFS approach with the NBA trade deadline looming. Do teams showcase players to get a better haul or do they preserve them to avoid injury? Kevin Love is definitely one of those players likely on the move shortly but his NBA resume kind of already speaks for itself. Either way, tonight vs. Charlotte would be a very good 'showcase' game as the Hornets cannot guard anybody down low. Love had 16/14 a week before Christmas vs. Charlotte for a 7X night. He also recently went for a 48 fp night vs. Boston's tough defense on December 27th.
Montrezl Harrell DK $5.7k | FD $5.2k
LA's Montrezl Harrell is one of those reverse splits guys where his DFS production actually increases when the Clippers get blowout wins. Harrell averages 42.6 fppg in big favorite games. Harrell has a great matchup vs. a Pistons team missing Blake Griffin tonight and who should realistically limit Drummond's minutes if/when the game gets out of hand. Harrell also averages 20.5 and 8.3 rebounds in home games compared to 16.9 and 6.7 on the road.
Glenn Robinson III DK $5.6k | FD $4.7k
Glenn Robinson III scored 25 points on 10-17 shooting last game with both D'Angelo Russell and Willie Cauley-Stein out of the lineup. Those two GSW players are absent again tonight as is likely half the T'Wolves roster. Minnesota is also on the back-to-back, giving up 18 shots to Khris Middleton at the SF position on New Year's Day.
๐๐๐ Other Likes / Dislikes ๐๐๐
DeMar DeRozan ($7.4k)has gone for 42+ fp in 3 of the last 4 and the Spurs have taken 9 straight from OKC in San Antonio.
Center
Richaun Holmes DK $7.1k | FD $6.7k
Really good FD value on Richaun Holmes tonight, who had 18 points and 12 rebounds vs. Memphis on December 21st while playing just 29 minutes because of foul trouble. This is a Grizzlies team that gave up a 67 fp night to Lamarcus Aldridge recently and Holmes' big outing a couple weeks ago came with Marvin Bagley III in the lineup. He'll be out tonight with a sprained foot.
๐๐ Other Likes / Dislikes ๐๐
Rudy Gobert's price tag is up $900 to $8.9k but he's up against a Bulls team giving up 58+ fp/48 to the C position and with a slightly injured Wendell Carter, Jr.
Andre Drummond ($9.8k) doesn't have Blake Griffin to steal rebounds and post plays tonight, but Detroit could also be blown out vs. the Clippers by the 3rd quarter.

Today's SuperDraft multiplier must-play is Luka Doncic. Yes the price is high, but a triple-double is all but guaranteed with the in-state rivalry narrative against San Antonio and the Mavs also maybe missing Porzingis.
