Top NBA Plays 12/11 | To Boo or Not to Boo?
Kawhi Leonard returns to Toronto tonight to receive his championship ring that he won with the Raptors last season. On one hand, he brought Toronto their first championship in franchise history. On the other, he ditched them and the chance at not 1, not 2, not 3 titles and headed to LA. It's friendly Canada, so it's probably a warm reception for Leonard tonight. Expect a few fans to be like, "yeah, but...." in tonight's game however.
Overall it's a fully loaded Wednesday with 11 games on tap. Therefore, let's get digging:
Tonight's DFS Headlines
Pelicans @ Bucks
It's a streaky game here as the Bucks have won their last 15 but New Orleans has dropped their last 9. Will Milwaukee players have maximum value as -13 point favorites?
Jazz @ Timberwolves
Utah hasn't beaten anybody not named Memphis in the last 2+ weeks. Not only that, the once-stout Jazz defense has given up 120+ in 6 of the last 9. The T'Wolves have allowed 120+ in four straight so this one could turn into a ping-pong match (O/U 222.5). This is a ๐ผPost Meeting Game๐ผ for Minnesota after a players-only conference after the loss to Phoenix in the last game.
Rockets @ Cavs
Is it a ๐ฃBlowout Game ๐ฃ for Houston as 11 point favorites at Cleveland? That's what we thought Monday when Sacramento upset the Rockets at the buzzer but Cleveland has been held under 100 points for 4 straight games.
Hornets @ Nets
Brooklyn has won 3 straight, which includes a 111-104 over the Hornets on Friday. The Nets are home in the rematch and play a Charlotte team on a back-to-back after beating Washington on Wednesday. Looks like a good night to target Nets players.
Hawks @ Bulls
Fatigue should be a factor for Atlanta, who is on 0 days rest tonight in Chicago. The Hawks fell 135-121 in OT on Tuesday to the Heat despite having a 6 point lead with a minute left in regulation. Deandre Hunter and Trae Young both logged 40+ minutes in the loss.
Knicks @ Warriors
The two worst teams in the league meet up when the Knicks visit Golden State. New York is also on the back-to-back after getting demolished by 28 in Portland last night. The hype and hope for the Knicks with a new coach is officially squashed after two games.
Guards
Ricky Rubio DK $7.3k | FD $8k
Ja Morant or Ricky Rubio for this price and in this game - THAT is the question (or take both). Rubio gets a slight edge because he's up against the Grizzlies' 22nd ranked defense in efficiency (Phoenix 18th). He's also put up the numbers more consistently since Morant's 42 fp night was his first game back after missing 4. Rubio has 15+ field goal attempts in 3 straight, and also has 13+ assists in each of those game. Hard to see any of those trends subsiding vs. Memphis' #6 fastest pace.
Malcolm Brogdon DK $7.2k | FD $8k
We've got a ๐ Birthday Game ๐ alert for Malcolm Brogdon but he didn't get a very good present vs. Boston's #2 ranked defense vs. the PG. One break that Brogdon does get is that the Celtics are on the first leg of a back-to-back and the 76ers are visiting TD Garden tomorrow. Brogdon still gets his shots (at least a dozen in all 8 games since returning from injury) but has just 7 total assists the last two.
JJ Redick DK $4.6k | FD $4.3k
There's a narrative going around the NBA DFS community to absolutely attack 3-point shooters vs. the Bucks. It makes sense, Milwaukee runs a fast pace so there's a lot of opportunities and the Bucks have also been dominant so teams have been trying to hit 3's to stay in the game. Orlando took 31 3's on Monday which bodes well for JJ Redick tonight. Redick is ready for a comeback after shooting 1-10 from the field last game and is just 2-12 from three point range the last two.
๐๐ Other Likes / Dislikes ๐๐
James Harden ($12.9k) averaged 41.5 points and 12.5 assists in two games vs. Cleveland last season. Jrue Holiday $7.1k could also be in line for a ceiling game vs. the Bucks - as long as New Orleans keeps it close.
Forwards
Jabari Parker DK $6.1k | $6.3k
Jabari Parker logged 30 minutes last night vs. Miami but he should be energized tonight in his hometown and up against his former team Chicago. Atlanta being on the back-to-back may actually help Parker's output tonight, as Trae Young and Deandre Hunter could both be limited after playing 40+ vs. the Heat.
Ben McLemore DK $5.4k | FD $5k
Got to keep going to the well on Ben McLemore tonight, especially in the matchup with Cleveland. The Cavs are giving up 44.81 dvP / 48 to the SF spot and Danuel House isn't doing much with the Rockets starters. McLemore has thrived in his role coming off the bench, getting at least 13 shots in each of the last three. The minutes should be there yet again as the Rockets are 11 point favorites tonight.
Joe Ingles DK $5.3k | FD $5k
Joe Ingles is in a nice spot in the starting lineup for the Jazz. Ingles has gone for 30+ fp the last two and has a very favorable matchup vs. the T'Wolves pace that is #2 in the league. Minnesota is 25th defensively vs. the SF position as Ingles splits time at SG/SF tonight. Minnesota has allowed 120+ in 4 straight.
๐๐๐ Other Likes / Dislikes ๐๐๐
Kevin Love ($6k) would seem to be in a good price spot and matchup vs. Houston, but he is shooting 30% from the field so far in December.
Center
Jarrett Allen DK $6.8k | FD $7.6k
Brooklyn's Jarrett Allen has a great matchup vs. Charlotte, a team that is not only the 2nd worst vs. the C position (allowing 60.14 fp/48) but also on the second leg of the back-to-back. Allen has posted 7 double-doubles in his last 8 games, while getting double digit shot attempts in 4 of the last 5. DeAndre Jordan could also lurch some production here, but overall it's a good night for Nets' big men.
๐๐ Other Likes / Dislikes ๐๐
Where did the old Jonas Valanciunas ($7k) go? He posted 50+ fp in three straight before dropping to a 27 fp average the last two. It's a good bounce back spot vs. Phoenix though (27th vs. C). Clint Capela ($8k) grabbed 17 boards last game, but he's just not getting enough shots to get value.
