Top NBA Plays 12/12 | Where Art Thou Points?

It might not take a ton of points to go away with some cash tonight based on the 4-game slate as well as the quality of the defense / putridity of the offense of the teams who are in action.

Flo Rida would love Thursday's slate because, on paper, it looks like the scoring is going to be low, low, low, low ,low , low , low. That's fine - especially on a small card - because challenges are a good thing. Let's light this candle:

Tonight's DFS Headlines

76ers @ Celtics

Gotta lean towards whoever is home here as the Sixers and Celtics are a combined 23-0 on their own courts. Boston is on 0 days rest and a weirdly high scoring 117-122 loss to the Pacers. Philly won the paint drying championships in their boring 97-92 win vs. Denver Tuesday.

Cavs @ Spurs

The Cavs actually looked decent in losing just 110-116 vs. the Rockets last night. Cleveland has lost 15 of 16 and although the Spurs have seen their share of woes this year, San Antonio has won 3 of 4 - even though it was 2 wins over Sacramento and an OT victory against Houston.

Mavericks vs. Pistons

This game is being held at a neutral site in Mexico City which throws a lot of trends out the window for DFS purposes.

Trail Blazers @ Nuggets

Denver tanked in their recent 3-game trip to the East Coast, failing to break 103 points vs. Boston, Brooklyn, or Philadelphia. The Nuggets lost their starting PG Jamal Murray last game, but that creates some openings DFS-wise.

Guards

Luka Doncic DK $11.4k | FD $11.8k

The timing could be right to hammer Luka Doncic tonight. First, he's coming off three straight sub-50 fantasy point performances. BUT, Dallas had the unprecedented back-to-back-back-to-back games, playing 4 in 6 nights. The Mavs have since had 3 nights off and are in a ๐Ÿ”ฆSpotlight Game ๐Ÿ”ฆ in Mexico City. Dallas plays Detroit, who is only middle-of-the-pack defensively this season.

Is ownership going to be low on Doncic considering the price and some recent down games?

Will Barton DK $6.3k | FD $6.6

Jamal Murray left Tuesday's game with a trunk contusion (?) and Will Barton slid over to the PG spot to finish with a season high 26 points to go along with 7 points and 7 rebounds. Murray is expected to be back in the lineup tonight, but his minutes may be limited. Either way, Barton showed great energy at the PG spot and got himself 19 shots in the process, likely earning more time in that role vs. Portland's #20th ranked team in defensive efficiency.

A faster paced game only helps Barton's production tonight.

Luke Kennard (DK $5.5k | FD $5.3k

Luke Kennard had an abysmal go of it last game vs. New Orleans' bottom 4 defense, shooting just 5-12 from the floor including 1-6 from three point range. He had hit 13 of his previous 24 from downtown though. Dallas is 29th vs. the SF positing, giving up 44.9 fp/48 min. Kennard leads the Pistons in assists with 4.2 per game, and he should hit that as the Mavericks are allowing 4 ast/game to the SG position where he will also see time.

๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘ Other Likes  / Dislikes ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ€

Jaylen Brown ($6.6k) would get a production boost if both Gordon Hayward (GTD) and Marcus Smart (OUT) miss tonight's game but he played 34 minutes yesterday. Kemba Walker ($7.7k) is in the same boat and the Celtics are likely in a low-scoring game vs. Philly anyway.

Forwards

Carmelo Anthony DK $5.8k | $5.8k

Carmelo Anthony is in the rare back-to-back ๐ŸšจRevenge Game๐Ÿšจ spot tonight. He was 5-13 from the field with 4 rebounds vs. the Knicks on Tuesday and now takes on Denver, whom he played with back in the 70's. Anthony hasn't broken the 30 point fantasy floor yet in the month of December but Paul Millsap may sit at the PF spot for Denver. Got to take some chances on the small slate.

Denver will give up a big game to opposing PF's every now and then.

Al Horford DK $5.9k | FD $6.9k

Speaking of the ๐ŸšจRevenge Game๐Ÿšจ, Al Horford returns to Boston tonight to face the Celtics, a franchise that he played over 200 games for in his career. Horford only has one 30+ fp night in his last four games and the Celtics do have the league's #3 team in defensive efficiency. Boston is on the back end of a back-to-back though after a 117-122 loss to the Pacers tonight. Horford would love to play a huge part in giving his former mates their first home loss of the season.

Boston is tired but also a bit banged up ahead of tonight's matchup.

Kevin Porter, Jr. DK $3.6k | FD $4k

Is the community heading back to Kevin Porter station tonight? With that price tag, it's hard not to, as the Cavs F was 9/15 from the floor last night and 6-9 from three point range. It's hard to duplicate a shooting night like that, but Cleveland is on a back-to-back with Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson going for 32+ minutes last night vs. Houston. The Spurs are 25th in defensive efficiency this season. If San Antonio does get the blowout (-11 favorites), it should mean more minutes for Porter as well.

๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ Other Likes / Dislikes ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ€

If Paul Millsap ($4.9k) does play, he has a great matchup vs. the Trail Blazers last place defense vs. the PF position.

Center

Mason Plumlee DK $3.8k | FD $3.8k

There's potential for Mason Plumlee tonight, especially if Millsap does sit for the Nuggets. Plumlee would see minutes for Portland's #30 ranked defense vs. the PF position. Plumlee used to play for Portland as well. He doesn't shoot a whole lot (5 fg or less last 6 games), but did log a 42 fp night vs. the Knicks by adding 11 boards and 6 assists.

There's some boosts to be had if Murray and Millsap sit for Denver.

๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘ Other Likes / Dislikes ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ€

Nikola Jokic ($9k) would be the other play in this spot vs. Portland's #22 ranked dVp against the center. Hassan Whiteside ($8.1k) also has a double-double in 9 straight games going 7-11 from the field with 15 boards last game.
