Guards
Lou Williams, LAC [@WAS] (DK: $7.6k, FD: $8.8k)
The Clippers have had just about the worst injury luck of any team this season and now they are going to be without Austin Rivers for at least a game and Teodosic will be resting tonight as well. In a tournament pairing sweet Lou with DeAndre Jordan could earn you a lot of combos tonight as their combined usage should be off the chart. Here's the rub on Lou.. he hasn't done well when playing as a starter.
Elfrid Payton, ORL [vs POR] (DK: $6k, FD: $7.2k)
This is strictly a tournament play as Elfrid has been a hot mess over the last 5 games. He gets Gordon back tonight which should help get things rolling again. Elfrid's salary has taken a pretty big dip, which allows you to get a guy that can put up 40 fantasy points any given night for cheap into your lineup. It's a decent matchup as Portland is 17th versus starting point guards allowing 33 fantasy points a game.
Jamal Murray, DEN [vs NO] (DK: $5.6k, FD: $5.7k)
If Will Barton were to miss tonight, Murray is just about a lock. Even if Barton plays he's not likely to be 100% and Murray gets a prime matchup versus Rondo who has one of the worst defensive ratings in the league. The Pelicans are ranked 28th against starting point guards allowing 37 fantasy points a game. Murray's price is likely to sky rocket for the next time we see him, so feel free to fire him up.
Forwards
Otto Porter Jr, WAS [vs LAC] (DK: $6.5k, FD: $7k)
Porter has been playing better when Wall is on the court as he's the Oprah of assists.. you get an assist, you get an assist! The Clippers are ranked dead last against starting small forwards and basically have no starters left on the team, so maybe we need to rank them below some G-League teams? This game could certainly turn into a blowout but if it stays close for long enough, Porter could have a high ceiling in this type of situation.
Trevor Booker, PHI [vs OKC] (DK: $4.3k, FD: $6k)
Booker has seen 20+ minutes in his first three games as a member of the 76ers and they've put him to good use. Embiid is again questionable to play tonight which would leave Booker with plenty of minutes on the court. This makes a bit more sense on DraftKings because of the price difference.
P.J. Tucker, HOU [vs SA] (DK: $3.5k, FD: $3.8k)
The Rockets will be without Mbah a Moute tonight which should free some extra court time for Tucker. Tucker saw around 30 minutes in the last 2 games Mbah missed and put up around 25 fantasy points. He doesn't have a huge ceiling, but should have the minutes tonight and could put up a respectable total for a dirt cheap salary.
Centers
Andre Drummond, DET [@IND] (DK: $9.1k, FD: $9.4k)
Drummond is on the 2nd leg of a back to back but only played 32 minutes last night, so should be OK. He gets to match up against the Pacers who are ranked dead last versus starting centers allowing 38 fantasy points a game. This looks to be a competitive game with only a 4.5 point spread in favor of the Pacers so the Pistons will likely have to play their up-pace game to keep up.
DeAndre Jordan, LAC [@WAS] (DK: $7.4k, FD: $8.5k)
The Clippers are severely undermanned as they are dealing with tons of injuries, Jordan has to log heavy minutes with high usage for the team to stay competitive at all tonight. The Wizards are ranked 21st against starting centers allowing 33 fantasy points a game, but are a bit better when playing at home. The risk here is that this game turns into an early blowout and the starters ride the bench in shame.
Jonas Valanciunas, TOR [vs BKN] (DK: $4.9k, FD: $5.7k)
Valanciunas makes his third straight appearance in the newsletter yet remains a tournament only play. He's seen two straight games of 28+ minutes after not sniffing that total in the previous 10 games. Perhaps the coach finally saw the light as Valanciunas is a stat magnet putting up over 1.1 fantasy points a minute, so as long as he gets that time on court he's going to produce. The conditions are right, he's performed well when his team was heavily favored, but the minutes are no lock.
