Top NBA Plays 12/16 | ๐ŸŽ Shopping for Value ๐ŸŽ

There are 9 shopping days until Christmas, for many of us that means 8 days until we really have to start sweating and end up with gas station gift certificates for our friends and family. The stores are open on today's NBA slate however, with 7 games upcoming. Let's unwrap today's card - well not a card but a present.

Tonight's DFS Headlines

Wizards @ Pistons

Due to some injuries, the Pistons are just -6.5 favorites tonight vs. Washington. Detroit has gone 5-2 over their last 7 while the Wizards continue to rank dead last in defensive efficiency.

Cavs @ Raptors

Toronto has been a bit vulnerable at home, losing 3 of 4 at Scotiabank Arena. The Raptors are whopping -12.5 favorites vs. Cleveland tonight, even without the services of Fred VanVleet (d-knee).

Spurs @ Rockets

San Antonio has gone to OT in four straight games, not a good trend coming into a game with the Rockets' #3 pace. James Harden ($12.9k) has 50+ real points in 4 of his last 8, including December 3rd vs. San Antonio.

Heat @ Grizzlies

Another team playing a lot of extra basketball lately is the Heat, who have gone to OT in 3 of the last 4. This is also the 3rd game in 4 nights for Miami. Can the young Memphis squad take advantage of that potential fatigue?

Mavericks @ Bucks

This matchup loses a lot of its luster as MVP candidate Luka Doncic sprained his ankle Saturday and is unlikely to play vs. reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. Kristaps Porzingis ($7.8k) gets a big usage boost without Doncic but Milwaukee has rattled off 18 straight wins.

Bulls @ Thunder

Not a whole lot of points expected in this matchup with a betting total of just 208. OKC's Dennis Schroder has still gone for 20+ real points in 4 of the last 5 and Zach LaVine has 30+ real points in 2 of the last 3 for Chicago.

Trail Blazers at Suns

Portland is a good team to target tonight, as they've won 10 straight in this series. The Suns have also dropped 10 of their last 14 overall and have allowed at least 115 points in 8 of the last 10.

Guards

Patty Mills DK $4.7k | FD $4.3k

Sure, it was in yet another OT game for San Antonio but Patty Mills went 10-23 from the floor Saturday en route to a 40 fp night in 32 minutes. Mills has earned his minutes - or more accurately Bryn Forbes can't continue to be on the floor after shooting 1-14 total the last two games. Lonnie Walker IV had 28 points for the Spurs Saturday, but he also tweaked his knee late and is a GTD vs. the Rockets. With Walker potentially out, Mills gets more time at SG where Houston is 3rd worst defensively vs. the position.

Kendrick Nunn DK $6k | FD $6k

The Heat are battling some injuries in their back court with Goran Dragic (groin) and Justise Winslow (back) both out indefinitely. With Miami also playing OT games in 3 of their last 4, it's all hands on deck right now. That's proven to give great minutes to Kendrick Nunn, who has 36+ in four straight games. Nunn has a 53 fp ceiling over that span when getting 26 shots vs. the Hawks. It should be a similar up-tempo game when Miami visits Memphis, who is #6 in possessions per game and 26th defensively vs. the PG spot.

Nunn and the Heat get a nice pace bump tonight.

Derrick Rose DK $6.1k | FD $5.7k

Great FanDuel pricing on Derrick Rose up against the Wizards #30 defense that also ranks 23rd vs. the PG position. Rose shot 0-4 from three point range last game and still ended up with a 44 fp night after scoring 20 points and dishing out 12 assists. Rose has at least 15 fga in each of the last 5 games, which should continue, especially if Blake Griffin (knee) misses the game vs. the Wizards.

It's not necessarily a stack ON Detroit, more AGAINST Washington

๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘ Other Likes  / Dislikes ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ€

Ricky Rubio ($7.9k) has a double-double in 4 of the last 5 games which should continue if Devin Booker (forearm) remains out for Phoenix. Kyle Lowry ($7.7k) is an interesting play vs. the Cavs' defense that is 2nd worst vs. the PG position and with Fred VanVleet out. Is Cleveland @ Toronto a blowout though?

Forwards

Jaren Jackson DK $6.3k | FD $7.4k

You wouldn't think it's a great matchup vs. the Heat's top 10 defense, but Jaren Jackson, Jr. is up against a Miami squad playing their 3rd game in 4 nights. 3 of the last 4 Miami games have also gone to OT, so this is a team that could be getting fatigued, especially while battling injuries to Winslow and Dragic while running a 7-8 man rotation. Jackson might be in a good spot even if the Heat were at full strength, as he's put up 18+ shots in 5 of the last 7. Jackson had just 29 fp Saturday vs. the Wizards, but that was on the back-to-back after scoring 43 real points vs. Milwaukee on Friday night.

Khris Middleton DK $6.9k | FD $7.5k

Khris Middleton is back to being Mr. Consistent, which is great for cash game plays. The Bucks SF has a floor of 35 and a ceiling of 40 in his last 6 games since moving back into the starting lineup full-time. That should continue tonight, especially with Eric Bledsoe out a 2nd straight game after suffering a shin injury.

Punch In, Get 38 fp, Punch Out.

Danilo Gallinari DK $5.9k | FD $7k

Who wants to ride the Danilo Gallinari train after his 1-13 shooting night Saturday at Denver? The answer, nobody - which makes him a great contrarian play vs. the Bulls. After missing a game with an ankle injury last Monday, Gallinari has now shot 6-26 the last two. The good thing is that he's getting 13 shots in each of those spots but the other note to take is that both tilts were on the road. He doesn't have huge home/road split discrepancies, but is definitely better when playing at Chesapeake Energy Arena. ๐Ÿ€ Same Game, Different Player: Lauri Markkanen ($6k) grabbed 17 rebounds last game - but OKC is 9th vs. the PF position.

The fact that Chicago has been so good vs. the PF makes Gallinari an even better GPP play.

๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ Other Likes / Dislikes ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ€

Kristaps Porzingis ($7.8k) gets a 9.2% usage increase and an 18.52 fp boost with Luka Doncic out of the lineup and Dallas is up against Milwaukee's #2 pace. Markieff Morris ($3.9k) has the ๐ŸšจRevenge Game๐Ÿšจ vs. Washington, which will be especially fruitful if Griffin and/or Drummond sit for Detroit. Frank Kaminsky has 39 fp in each of the last two games and Portland is 30th defensively vs. the PF position.

Center

Andre Drummond DK $9.3k | FD $10k

Make sure to plug Andre Drummond into the LineStar lineup optimizer because he missed Saturday's game with an eye infection and is considered questionable tonight. If the big man does suit up, it's in a great spot vs. a Wizards defense missing Thomas Bryant and Moe Wagner and thus were just out-rebounded 58-37 vs. Memphis while giving up 70 points in the paint. Blake Griffin also played just a half on Saturday for Detroit and is listed as questionable, which would give Drummond a boost. Drummond grabbed 24 boards when these teams met in early November.

It's a great matchup for Drummond - if he plays.

๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘ Other Likes / Dislikes ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ€

If Drummond does not go, Christian Wood ($4.5k) has value vs. Washington, especially after posting an 11/12 line Saturday.

Today's SuperDraft multiplier must-play is Andre Drummond. His eye infection should be healed enough to dominate a Washington post defense that allowed 70 points in the paint on Saturday. Drummond had 24 rebounds in the first meeting with the Wizards.
