Top NBA Plays 12/19 | Picking Up After Armageddon Last Night

Up was down, left was right, and c-a-t really spelled dog last night in the NBA. Cleveland, Atlanta, and Brooklyn all notched wins (although the Nets have won 6 straight) over quality teams Indiana, Washington, and the Lakers respectively. It was only a four game slate so it was actually a pretty good night for DFS purposes (wait, aren't they all?). We'll keep the notion that the NBA has parity in the back of our minds heading into Wednesday's 12 pack of plays.

Wednesday Games that Stand Out:

My upset special of the day is the Chicago Bulls snapping the Brooklyn Nets 6 game winning streak. Chicago is a +2 home underdog but the Nets are coming off a huge win over the Lakers last night. Top Nets players logged a ton of minutes in that win including D'Angelo Russell ($7,700) who had 50 fp in 34 minutes vs. LA.

The Indiana Pacers are in a weird spot, as they had won 7 in a row before falling to Cleveland (Cleveland?) last night. Now they must head to the Great North to take on the Toronto Raptors and oddsmakers are taking their sweet time releasing a line for that was-a-potentially-good-matchup.

The Phoenix Suns could do more damage than you think tonight as +12 underdogs at the Boston Celtics. Devin Booker ($8,700) has had 28 and 38 'real game' scoring nights in his return to the lineup and the Suns have won three straight.

The Golden State Warriors (-3) are getting PBTP (pounded by the public) early at the Utah Jazz tonight. Anthony Davis ($11,800) is the highest priced player on the board but the New Orleans Hornets are still +8 'dogs at Milwaukee. The Minnesota Timberwolves have covered in 5 of the last 6 home games and I like them in a blowout vs. the Detroit Pistons. Finally, expect a lot of DFS scoring when the Oklahoma City Thunder visit the Sacramento Kings as the O/U is set at 235.

Guards

Derrick Rose (DK: $6,700 FD: $6,200 Y! $19 )

Derrick Rose is slated to get starter minutes tonight as Jeff Teague misses his second game with injury. Rose was solid in his role on Monday with 13 points and 11 assists. The T'Wolves beat Sacramento by 27 in that game, so Rose only logged 24 minutes. The Kings were on a B2B in that game but things should be a little closer tonight when Minnesota hosts Detroit. The Pistons give up 35.1 fppg to point guard starters and are 30th vs. the PG over the last 5 games.

Rose is in line for a big night vs. the Pistons

Devin Booker (DK: $8,700 FD: $8,600 Y! $32 )

Devin Booker can be had for $200 more than Kemba Walker tonight with arguably a much higher upside. Walker and the Hornets host Charlotte on a B2B which has blowout written all over it. Booker, on the other hand, leads his Suns into Boston looking for their fourth-straight win. Since returning from a hamstring injury, Booker has scored 28 and 38 points and has gone for 48+ fantasy points in each. Boston is a top 10 defense vs. the SG but Booker went for 38 points and 9 assists when the teams met up at the start of November.

Danny Green (DK: $6,400 FD: $4,500 Y! $10 )

There's great potential for Danny Green tonight as the Toronto Raptors take on a tired Indiana Pacers team. There should be minutes for Green as Fred VanVleet and Kyle Lowry are nursing injuries. Indiana usually has a great defense but they will be tired after the 1 point loss at home to Cleveland last night (as -12.5 favorites.) Green has a nice upside with a 28,28, and 40 point fantasy night over the span of his last five games.

Green is the Raptor with the most favorable matchup vs. the Pacers

Forwards

Jared Dudley (DK: $3,200 FD: $3,800 Y! $10 )

The various fantasy sites are daring us to take Jared Dudley tonight, and why not oblige? First off, he's got incredible value and although Brooklyn is on a B2B, they're still up against just the Chicago Bulls. Three Nets starters and their top backup, Spencer Dinwiddie, all logged 33 minutes or more last night vs. the Lakers. Dudley saw just 24 minutes of court time, so he should be fresh. Not only that, he produced during that span with 13 points and 5 rebounds. Dudley has seen his playing time increase as well as his production (16 points vs. Atlanta). There's no reason to think that shouldn't continue tonight.

Things are looking optimistic for a big night from Dudley vs. Chicago

Lauri Markkanen (DK: $7,400 FD: $7,400 Y! $24 )

If you want exposure at the F position in the Nets / Bulls game, another great option is Chicago's Lauri Markkanen. His cost is up there but so is his production since returning from injury. The Chicago F has back-to-back 42+ fantasy point nights and has gone for that amount in 4 of 8 games he's played this season. The Bulls are missing some scoring with Zach Lavine out of the lineup and not to mention the Nets are on game 2 of a B2B with some key Brooklyn players logging serious minutes in last night's win over the Lakers. It's almost as if the Nets sacrificed tonight's game for the win vs. LA and who better to benefit than the Bulls' best player?

Brooklyn has given up B2B big nights vs. the PF position with a great chance for a 3rd

Nemanja Bjelica (DK: $4,800 FD: $5,800 Y! $12 )

Nemanja Bjelica broke the hearts of fantasy owners on Monday, logging just an assists and two rebounds while playing only 5 minutes. That game was an anomaly for Sacramento, who were playing in a B2B, not to mention their 3rd game in four nights. The Kings should be recharged now and ready for a fast paced game with OKC, as the O/U is 235. Bogdan Bogdanovich and Marvin Bagley are heavy minutes guys who could miss tonight's game with the Thunder. Prior to the last game, Bjelica had posted two 40+ nights in his last three games including a 25 point scoring night a week ago against Minnesota. OKC is 25th vs. the PF over the last 5, which makes the Sacramento player a solid roster.

Centers

Chris Boucher (DK: $3,500 FD: $3,000 Y! $10 )

This is a complete flier.. and not for the faint of heart. For FanDuel you can easily fit him in as the throw away slot. The Raptors are incredibly thin tonight without Serge Ibaka and Kyle Lowry, and Jonas Valanciunas who has been out for 2 games already. The Pacers are on a B2B and are 29th vs. the C position over the last 5. Indiana has allowed opposing centers 15+ rebounds in three straight games. Between the B2B and thin Raptors, anything can happen tonight, including an early blowout from either side, which could allow Boucher even more minutes. On the flip side.. as noted above, this is a risky move and not to be taken without some thought.

Deandre Ayton (DK: $6,700 FD: $7,200 Y! $22 )

The Phoenix Suns youngster Deandre Ayton has huge upside vs. the Celtics as his team is riding a 3 game win streak. Devin Booker returned two games ago but it hasn't dipped into Ayton's production. During the last two, the Suns big man has 21/13 and 18/12. Overall, Boston is OK for the C, but in the last 5 games they're allowing the 22nd most points to opposing centers. Both Anthony Davis and Andre Drummond have posted 60+ point fantasy nights vs. C's in the last four games and Ayton should be very solid in Boston.

Brook Lopez (DK: $6,800 FD: $7,000 Y! $25 )

Brook Lopez has to be in consideration for a value play at the C position tonight. The guy is just consistent with 24+ fantasy points in 9 straight. The Bucks are expected to beat New Orleans handily, as Milwaukee is favored by 8 at home. The Pelicans are just 4-11 on the road. New Orleans has allowed 33+ fantasy points to 4 of the past 5 centers they've faced. Lopez isn't going to win you a tournament, but he's also not going to lose you a cash game.

You know what you're gonna get with Lopez night in and night out.

We have to get what we can on this jam packed Wednesday slate because the Grinch that is NBA schedule makers are throwing just two games out there on Thursday. We're about to get really intimate with the Rockets, Heat, Mavs, and Clippers rosters tomorrow, so light a candle and get the caviar ready.
