Top NBA Plays 12/21 | Pre-Holiday NBA Jam Session
There are holiday drinks to be had and pending 4 day weekends to celebrate, so we're going to keep today's LineStar Daily Dribble short and sweet. We return next week so until then, enjoy the time with family and friends - or by yourself - whatever floats your boat. The Christmas NBA slate is always a fun one as we wind down the calendar year on a strong note.
Tonight's Games
The Atlanta Hawks taking on the New York Knicks (-2.5) might not move the meter ratings-wise but it has big potential in the DFS world.
Boston (-1.5) gears up for a potential Eastern Conference finals preview when they host the Milwaukee Bucks.
Minnesota takes their horrible 2-12 road record to the San Antonio Spurs (-4).
Anthony Davis ($11,700) leads his current team, the New Orleans Pelicans, at his future team (?) the Los Angeles Lakers (-5).
The Utah Jazz meet up in a very solid Western Conference matchup at the Portland Trail Blazers (-2).
Guards
Damian Lillard ($8,500)
What better player to build your roster around tonight than Damian Lillard. He has been in 3 perfect lineups this month and blew up for 36 points and 10 assists when the Trail Blazers last met the Jazz in April.
Jordan Clarkson ($5,500)
Cleveland should be able to keep this one closer than expected tonight, as the Raptors rest / take it light as they prepare for a trip to take on Philadelphia on Saturday night. Jordan Clarkson was already seeing decent minutes (32+ in three of four) but that should stay steady with the Cavs trading of Kyle Korver to Utah. Clarkson has scored at least 18 points in his last four and should have another good outing here.
Fred VanVleet ($5,500)
If you aren't feeling Clarkson tonight, stay in that same game and go with Fred VanVleet for the same price. This is VanVleet's moment as Kyle Lowery is out Friday with a thigh injury. Serge Ibaka and Danny Green are also questionable with injuries (especially with a game vs. the Sixers tomorrow) which would increase VanVleet's usage 8.55% and his production by 5.02 fp.
Forwards
Robert Williams ($3,800 )
Tonight's game between Boston and Milwaukee is a 'mettle-tester' so expect Celtics coach Brad Stevens to have all hands on deck at home. Well to clarify, 'all the hands that he has available.' Al Horford and Aron Baynes will miss this contest and Marcus Morris has a knee issue which opens up huge opportunities for Robert Williams. In two games this month with over 25 minutes, Williams has an 8 point / 8 rebound night as well as a 7 point / 11 rebound game. That's nice upside for the cost.
Taj Gibson ($4,200 )
Taj Gibson should at least be fresh after foul trouble limited him to 22 minutes last game. We need to see Gibson return to the production that included a 37 fp night on 12/3 and 30 on 12/5. He might be able to do just that vs. a Spurs team that allows 32.4 fppg to PF starters. TJ Warren, Lauri Markkanen, and Aaron Gordon have all had 30+ point fantasy nights vs. San Antonio in the last five, so Gibson has a great chance at production here.
Centers
Jarrett Allen ($5,100)
Jarrett Allen is a nice contrarian play Friday as his ownership is only projected at about 3.8%. The Nets C has to be still riding high after his huge block on LeBron James on Tuesday night. Allen followed that up with a 16 point / 12 rebound night vs. the Bulls and has a very favorable matchup vs. the Pacers defense. Overall, Indiana is solid on D but they're 30th vs. the C the last five games.
Marc Gasol ( $7,700)
It's Christmas time, so why not spend some more money on Marc Gasol tonight? He's close to a sure thing vs. a Sacramento team that has allowed four 44+ point fantasy nights to the last five centers they've faced. Gasol has gone for 34+ fp in four of his last five too. Memphis is a 1.5 point underdog at the Kings tonight in what should be a very closely contested ballgame.
That wraps up the week here at LineStar. Have a great holiday weekend and most important of all, stay safe. There's a lot more NBA DFS nights to come and we want to see all of you here for the duration.
