Top NBA Plays 12/23 | Christmas Comes Early
The NBA has tomorrow night off before taking center stage in the sports world on Christmas Day. First things first though, an early gift of a stuffed 11-game slate for tonight that features a little bit of everything. Santa Silver knows that we've been good this year, time to collect.
Tonight's DFS Headlines
Raptors @ Pacers
Toronto is not only in a back-to-back tonight, but a historic one as they used a 47-21 4th quarter scoring advantage to score a 3 point win over Dallas yesterday. Indiana is also on 0 days rest, but had a much more pressure free 28 point loss at Milwaukee yesterday.
Hawks @ Cavs
Atlanta gets John Collins ($7.6k) back tonight to try to snap a 7-game losing streak. Trae Young ($11.2k) is the highest price player on the slate after two 60+ fp nights in his last three games.
Bulls @ Magic
Not a ton of points are expected in this one with a betting total of just 208.5. Orlando allowed 113+ points in three of their 4 games on a recent road trip but have had the last 2 nights off and are back at home.
Wizards @ Knicks
As weird as it sounds to say, the Knicks should get back to their winning ways tonight vs. the Wizards' #30 ranked defense. The Wizards will be without Isaiah Thomas, suspended for 2-games for entering the stands Saturday and not to wish fans a Merry Christmas.
76ers @ Pistons
All five Philadelphia starters took at least 10 fg attempts on Saturday, which can be good - and bad - for DFS purposes. The Pistons could potentially be without Derrick Rose (knee), Luke Kennard (knee), Christian Wood (knee) and Blake Griffin (flu) in this one.
Jazz @ Heat
Rudy Gobert ($9k) is averaging 17.4 points and 14.3 rebounds in December and Utah currently has a 5-game win streak. Bam Adebayo ($8.7k) took just 9 shots Friday which coincided with Goran Dragic's ($5.6k) return to the lineup. Something to watch moving forward.
Spurs @ Grizzlies
The San Antonio defense needs a huge bounce back game after giving up 76 points in the paint and another 36 points off turnovers Saturday vs. the Clippers.
Nuggets @ Suns
Denver looks like a great betting wager, as they are just -4.5 favorites at Phoenix even though they've taken 13 of the last 15 vs. the Suns and have a 6 game win streak overall. Target the Nuggets in this one.
Rockets @ Kings
Russell Westbrook ($8.9k) and James Harden ($11k) took turns scoring 40+ real points the last two and Houston could be in a blowout spot even though they are just -5.5 road favorites. Sacramento's Buddy Hield has a combined 15 points scored his last two.
Pelicans @ Trail Blazers
Hassan Whiteside ($7.9k) continues to dominate after a 16 point, 22 rebound, 7 block performance Saturday vs. Minnesota. Granted, the T'Wolves were missing Karl-Anthony Towns, but the Pelicans are also 18th defensively vs. the C position.
Timberwolves @ Warriors
Minnesota has a 10-game losing streak in play but at least they're playing a little better defense lately. After giving up 120+ in six straight, the Wolves have held 2 of the last 3 opponents to 110 or less. Hard to see Karl-Anthony Towns (knee) playing with Minnesota having the next 2 nights off for additional rest.
Guards
Shabazz Napier DK $3.4k | FD $4.7k
It's an expected starting PG for under $3.5k and against the league's worst defense. How do you not roster Shabazz Napier tonight? The T'Wolves are trying everything to stop their 10-game slide, which includes giving Napier the reins Saturday. He responded with 18 points on 7-15 shooting and was 4-10 from three. Golden State is 20th dVp against the PG spot.
CJ McCollum DK $6.5k | FD $7.2k
It's the lowest price for CJ McCollum in the last three games which is dumbfounding considering the Trail Blazers are up against New Orleans' 5th worst defense in the league. McCollum has 20+ shots in three of the last four, and Portland could be without Carmelo Anthony (knee) and his 15+ fg attempts for a second straight game.
Alec Burks DK $5.3k | FD $5.6k
This is a play against the Timberwolves defense heading to the West Coast more than anything. That being said, Golden State's Alec Burks is priced well and has at least 13 shots in 4 of the last 5 games. Burks also has decent peripherals such as 5+ rebounds in 3 of 4 as well as a 4 assist and a 4 steal game in his last two. Minnesota also ranks 26th defensively vs. the SG position, giving up 44.27 FP/48. It's time to start showcasing Burks for trade talks as well, and this is a great opportunity to do so.

It's worth it to play Zach LaVine at $8k tonight, as he's hit 6X that in two of his last three and Orlando has allowed 40+ in 3 of the last 5 to the SG spot. Elfrid Payton ($5.1k) is an interesting play after moving into the starting lineup last game and with a meeting against Washington tonight.
Forwards
Julius Randle DK $6.7k | FD $6.9k
It's crazy to think that Knicks players are risky tonight because they might be on the GIVING end of a blowout, but that's where we're at when New York hosts Washington tonight but as just -3.5 favorites. Julius Randle has seen his production dip to 35, 26, and 34 fp the last three but those have all been in games decided by 20+ points and 3 of those were against quality teams in Denver, Milwaukee, and Miami. Randle has 15+ fg attempts in 5 of 6 and has also grabbed 8+ rebounds in every game over that span.
Harrison Barnes DK $5.5k | FD $4.7k
A great price spot for Harrison Barnes, especially on FanDuel, against Houston's #2 pace. The Sacramento F has still been getting his shots lately, even with De'Aaron Fox back for the Kings. Barnes has launched it 17+ times in 2 of the last 3 while logging at least 33 minutes in 7 of the last 8. He broke the 40fp barrier last game vs. Memphis, and the Rockets have allowed at least 35 fp to 3 of the last 5 SFs they've faced.
Jaren Jackson, Jr. DK $6.6k | FD $6.7k
Are the Spurs just demoralized mentally after allowing 110 points in the first three quarters alone to the Clippers on Saturday? What better way to find out than to roster Jaren Jackson, Jr. of Memphis tonight. The Grizzlies F has three 40+ fp games in his last 7. His field goal attempt numbers have been up and down lately, but the Spurs rank 24th defensively vs. the PF position. Montrezl Harrell had 21 points and 8 rebounds in just 19 minutes Saturday vs. San Antonio.
๐๐๐ Other Likes / Dislikes ๐๐๐
Damion Lee ($4.3k) has value vs. Minnesota's traveling defense. Somebody from Memphis will get to San Antonio. Could that somebody be Dillon Brooks ($5.3k)? John Collins ($7.6k) has a hefty price tag after missing the last 25 games.
Center
Hassan Whiteside DK $7.9k | FD $9k
Hassan Whiteside is playing with great confidence lately, saying after Saturday's game that he's, "the best rim protector in the league." The Portland big man did swat away 7 Timberwolves' shots in that game, so maybe he has a point. The 6'9" Derrick Favors of the Pelicans is heavily overmatched in this one and Whiteside should see a few more shots if Carmelo Anthony (knee) sits for Portland.
๐๐ Other Likes / Dislikes ๐๐
It should (could) be an upside game for Willie Cauley-Stein ($4.6k) playing a Minnesota team that has gotten eaten up on the blocks lately, especially with Towns out (50+ fp in 3 of 5).
