Top NBA Plays 12/26 | No Hangover With These Plays

The best way to avoid the holiday hangover is to keep the party going and that's exactly what we're going to do with today's 10 game affair. Christmas Day in the NBA was fairly uneventful save for a good game between the Thunder and Rockets as well as a dominating Lakers win over Golden State. Let's finish off this egg nog and see what tonight's docket has in store:

Tonight's Headline Games

The Miami Heat have the longest current winning streak in the league at 5 games. That run will be put to the test when the Eastern Conference leading Toronto Raptors come to town as -3.5 favorites. Kawhi Leonard ($9,500) has gone for 48+ fp in three straight.

Speaking of streaks, the Dallas Mavericks have now dropped six in a row. The Mavs are nonetheless favored tonight (DAL -2.5) vs. the New Orleans Pelicans, who have dropped four straight games. Jrue Holiday ($8,800) and Anthony Davis ($11,800) could be thinking upset, as the top basket / assist combo on tonight's schedule.

For those that like the revenge DFS angle, Derrick Rose ($6,800) gets to stay home for the holidays as his Minnesota Timberwolves travel to take on the Chicago Bulls with whom Rose won an MVP award. The T'Wolves are -4.5 favorites despite being 3-13 on the road.

It could be a big night at home for Detroit Pistons starters such as Reggie Jackson ($5,400) as the opposing Washington Wizards are 24th or worse vs. every starting position in the NBA. The Pistons are -5 favorites.

The highest point total of the night is in the Sacramento Kings at Los Angeles Clippers contest (237.5). Both teams average 105+ possessions per outing so it could be another big night for De'Aaron Fox ($8,600) despite the Kings being +5.5 underdogs.

Guards

Kent Bazemore (DK: $5,700, FD: $6,800 Y! $21)

Kent Bazemore is a very consistent producer having gone for 28+ fantasy points in eight straight games. The Atlanta SG also has two 40+ fantasy nights in that span. Bazemore has scored 20+ points in 4 of 8. The Pacers have clamped down on SG recently (22 or less fp in four straight). Tonight will be a rematch from a November 17th game in which Bazemore had 13 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. He can score in a variety of ways.

On paper, Bazemore doesn't have the best matchup but he's done nothing but produce

Shelvin Mack (DK: $3,500 FD: $3,900 Y! $10)

Shelvin Mack seems to have a good DFS night about every other game, which bodes well considering he put up a clean slate (0 points, 0 rebounds, 0 assists) in 16 minutes the last contest. The fantasy point totals in 7 games before that, however, were 24, 9, 19, 7, 21, 8, 21. What better game for Mack to step up then tonight vs. Cleveland as the Grizzlies are favored by -10.5. Starter Mike Conley is battling a hamstring issue and it would be wise to cut his minutes in this one. If so, the Cavs are 29th vs. PG starters and 22nd vs. reserves, which bodes well for Mack.

Tyus Jones (DK: $4,700 FD: $4,400 Y! $10)

As stated, Derrick Rose is in a matchup with his hometown team, the Chicago Bulls, tonight. The Minnesota PG is also Q with an ankle injury that caused him to miss the last contest and play just 15 minutes vs. OKC. With Jeff Teague already out, Rose's injury opens up a great opportunity for Tyus Jones. Rose will have had 4 days to rest and he's playing in Chicago, so expect him to play. That being said, there should be solid usage for Jones. The Bulls are 5th vs. the PG the last 5 games which explains Jones' 1.05% ownership.

Jones' upside doesn't raise as much as you'd like with Rose and others out.

Forwards

Domantas Sabonis (DK: $6,400, FD; $6,600 Y! $20 )

Even though he's been more 'hit' lately, Domantas Sabonis is definitely still a very hit or miss player. All that does, however, is keep his ownership at 3% in a contest vs. Atlanta that should be very productive. The last time the Pacers played the Hawks, Sabonis had 16 boards and 6 assists, which was a 41.5 fp night despite just 9 points scored. He has a double-double in five of the last seven and should see solid minutes, as Indiana is a -7 favorite well rested at the Hawks.

Marvin Williams (DK: $5,100, FD: $5,600 Y! $16 )

People are likely wary on Marvin Williams since he had just 4 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist last time out vs. the Celtics. The Hornets are also up against Brooklyn's 10th ranked defense vs. the PF but you have to like the chances of a Williams bounce back tonight. After all, he averaged 21 points and 8 rebounds in the two games prior and is well rested after the Christmas holiday. Williams production goes up 13% with 2+ days rest and a faster pace (+32%) from both teams. Having had some time off should also favor the Charlotte power forward.

Some time off the last couple days should help Williams' production tonight.

Bogdan Bogdanovic (DK: $5,500 FD: $6,100 Y! $18)

Bogdan Bogdanovic seems to have recovered nicely from a sore foot that caused him to miss a game December 19th and be limited the 17th. In the past two contests, he's put up 14 and 24 points while also tallying 4+ assists in each contest. The Kings should be in a very fast paced matchup with the Clippers on Wednesday, which means Bogdanovic will see plenty of minutes. The teams combined for 236 points when they met up on November 29th with BogBog going for 26 points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds.

You can see why so many points are expected in the Sacramento / LA contest.

Centers

 Karl-Anthony Towns (DK: $9,400 FD: $9,100 Y! $41)

No problem spending on Karl-Anthony Towns tonight up against a Bulls team that he posted 35 points and 23 rebounds against on November 24th. That was good for a 74 point fantasy night which could / should be replicated with Derrick Rose a GTD. People are a bit sour on Towns after he has 36 fantasy points or less in three straight games. Minnesota has had 2 days off, however, and the Bulls are 29th vs. the C position the last 5 games.

Big men are overachieving vs. Chicago lately

Willie Cauley-Stein ( DK: $6,500, FD: $7,000 Y! $20)

Centers are priced through the roof today but you have to like the upside for the price out of Willie Cauley-Stein. He is playing in LA in a fast paced game. Sure, there's probably going to be some regression after a 22 point, 17 rebound night vs. the Pelicans but the Clippers allow 35.8 fppg to opposing C. DeAndre Jordan grabbed 22 rebounds vs. LA on 12/20 and Cauley-Stein has 30 boards total in the last two games. Cauley-Stein went for 17/10 vs. the Clippers on 11/29 but tonight's contest should have more production with both squads having 2+ nights off.

Can Big Will blow up for a 2nd straight day?

It's boxing day, so let's pummel the competition on tonight's DFS slate. The NBA knows we've been good this year so they're giving us the present of 5 Thursday games for a belated holiday gift. That should be an ideal slate to break down and have success on, so we'll see you back here for the info tomorrow!
