Top NBA Plays 1/22|Familiar Faces

One of the cool thing about the NBA scheduling this season is that teams are sometimes playing each other a couple of games in a row. That's the case for the Nets @ Cavs, Celtics @ Sixers, and Heat @ Raptors games tonight as these squads all faced off on Wednesday as well.

How do you attack that for DFS purposes? If a guy had a good game in the first meeting, is he going to do it again in the rematch? Will a guy who had an off night in the first game know the defensive strategy and make changes for the second contest? The answers are maybe...and maybe.

It's an 11-pack of games for Friday night. Let's see what we can dig up.

Today's NBA Matchups

Magic @ Pacers (-4) , O/U 217.5, 7:00 PM ET

The Pacers have a big hole in the middle with Myles Turner out of the lineup and they just allowed 68 points in the paint to the Mavs on Wednesday. Is it Vucci Mane time?

Notable Injuries: Myles Turner (hand) is questionable.

Bulls @ Hornets (-3), O/U 228.5 7:00 PM ET

Two well-rested teams meet up as the Bulls haven't played since Monday and Charlotte last took the court on Saturday. Does that favor defenses though?

Notable Injuries: PJ Washington tweaked an ankle in practice but is expected to play. Cody Zeller could also return for Charlotte.

Rockets @ Pistons (-3) , O/U 215, 7:00 PM ET

You know the Rockets are in a rut when they're underdogs at Detroit. Houston was already banged up, but now they could be without Christian Wood and/or P.J. Tucker. Who is left?

Heat @ Raptors (-3) , O/U 222, 7:30 PM ET

Shorthanded Miami pulled off a shocker with a 111-102 win over the Raptors on Wednesday and now they could get Tyler Herro ($7.1k) back for the rematch.

Nets (-7) @ Cavs , O/U 224, 7:30 PM ET

Cleveland was unconscious on Wednesday, beating the Nets 147-135 in double OT. The Cavs hit 20 of 40 three pointers and got a fantasy 🍔60 Burger🍔from Collin Sexton ($7.3k)

Celtics @ Sixers (-4.5) , O/U 222.5, 7:30 PM ET

Philadelphia won this matchup 117-109 on Wednesday behind 42 real points from Joel Embiid ($10.1k).

Notable Injuries: Jayson Tatum continues to be in quarantine.

Hawks (-6) @ T'Wolves , O/U 225, 8:00 PM ET

Atlanta is 11th in pace, Minnesota 7th so this could be a decent target even though the betting total looks on the low side.

Mavericks (-2) @ Spurs , O/U 222, 8:30 PM ET

The Spurs have won by 21 and lost by 22 points in their last two games so who knows what to expect from them.

Notable Injuries: Kleber, Powell, Finney-Smith, and Richardson continue to go through health and safety protocol for Dallas.

Thunder @ Clippers (-13.5) , O/U 219.5, 10:00 PM ET

The Clippers have won five straight, OKC has dropped 3 of 4. This one could get ugly.

Notable Injuries: Al Horford (personal) continues to sit.

Nuggets @ Suns (-1) , O/U 219, 10:00 PM ET

The Suns won this matchup 106-103 on New Year's Day, and it should be another low scoring affair as these squads are in the bottom 9 in possessions/game.

Knicks @ Kings (-4) , O/U 218.5, 10:00 PM ET

No team is effected less (usage wise) on the back-to-back like the Knicks. Thibodeau rides his players like an old Buick. NYK beat Golden State last night and faces a Kings team with the 30th ranked defensive efficiency.

Notable Injuries: Austin Rivers (Achilles) is questionable, Marvin Bagley III (wrist) is probable.

Tonight's Point Guard / Shooting Guard Notables

Kyrie Irving DK $9 k | FD $9.2k

Yes it was double OT, but Kyrie Irving launched it 28 times in Wednesday's meeting with Cleveland. KD took 25 shots in that game but is sitting tonight.

Victor Oladipo DK $8k | FD $8.5k

Dipo has 22 and 23 shots in his first two games with the Rockets, and tonight gets a meeting with the Pistons 5th worst defense with Christian Wood out for Houston.

Terry Rozier DK $6.7k | FD $7

LaMelo Ball has the high ceiling upside, but Terry Rozier is the more consistent of the two. Either way, it's a great spot in a meeting with the Bulls, who are 29th defensively vs. the PG spot.

Jalen Brunson DK $4.7k | FD $3.9

Solid price for a guy who is going to give you 34+ minutes and probably a dozen shots or more as Dallas continues to sift through the health and safety protocols.

Tonight's SF / PF Notables

Jerami Grant DK $8.1k | FD $8.4k

Why not go back to the well, as Jerami Grant gets a great matchup with Houston tonight. The Rockets frontcourt defense has some concerns to begin with, but now they're without Christian Wood and P.J. Tucker is playing through an abductor strain. Grant has hit 40+ fp in 7 of 8 as well.

John Collins DK $7.4k | FD $6.8k

NOBODY is going to trust John Collins for two good games in a row, which makes it a perfect time to jump in. Collins shot 24 times vs. the Pistons on Wednesday and also grabbed 11 boards. Atlanta plays Minnesota, who struggles in the frontcourt with Towns out.

OG Anunoby $6.1k | FD $6k

Mr. Consistent has hit 30+ fp for five straight games, which should continue tonight especially if Pascal Siakam has his minutes limited by a groin injury.

Taurean Prince DK $4.3k | FD $4.8k

Taurean Prince asked "the heck you send me to Cleveland for?" with 17 points and 7 boards vs. his old team Brooklyn on Wednesday. No reason he can't put up another sound outing tonight.

Jaden McDaniels DK $3.5k | FD $4

He's got to have earned more playing time after a solid 5-9 shooting night with 8 boards and 3 blocks last time out, right?

Tonight's Center Position Notables

Joel Embiid DK $10.1k | FD $10k

Boston cannot guard Joel Embiid as Tristan Thompson and Daniel Theis both had 5 fouls in Wednesday's meeting. Embiid hit 17 of 21 free throws in that game.

Nikola Vucevic DK $9.9k | FD $9.9k

Vucevic gets a great matchup with a Pacers team that gave up 68 points in the paint to the Mavs last game with Myles Turner out of the lineup. Vucevic has 22+ shots in two of the last three.

Demarcus Cousins DK $4.4k | FD $4.5k

People are liking the value play of Demarcus Cousins tonight with Christian Wood out of the lineup. Detroit just allowed the big 26 rebound night to Clint Capela in their last game.
