Top NBA Plays 1/23 | Bursting at the Seams on a Wednesday

If you're the type of DFS player that likes a bigger card of games to really diversify your lineups, then today is for you. There are 10 games on the docket tonight. The MLK early hoops on Monday was nice, but it also left just 4 games in the night (main) slate. With four games last night and just four more tomorrow, today could be the time to dig in (or dig out of the snow if you live in the Midwest) and get to work. Let's see what games are in store today in what is National Pie Day.

Tonight's Headline Games

Kawhi Leonard ($9,000) has somewhat mysteriously missed the last two games for the Toronto Raptors. Is he back in the lineup tonight as Toronto is on part two of a B2B at the Indiana Pacers (-6)?

Do we stay away from Boston Celtics (-14) players tonight as they host the Cleveland Cavaliers? The Cavs lost by 16 Monday to a Bulls team that had dropped 10 straight prior.

James Harden ($13,400) and the Houston Rockets (-7) are at the New York Knicks. Harden had an off game last time with "just" 37 points but we know what star scorers do when playing at Madison Square Garden.

The Utah Jazz just had their six game win streak snapped by Portland but are still -3.5 favorites at home vs. the Denver Nuggets.

Memphis Grizzlies prices are dropping like flies with Jaren Jackson ($5,300) down $2,700 for example. The Grizzlies are at home vs. the Charlotte Hornets in a matchup that Kemba Walker ($8,100) scored 46 points in when the teams met last March.

Guards

Jrue Holiday (DK: $8,600, FD: $9,500 Y! $35)

There are a bunch of ways you can spend big at the guard position today including James Harden, Kemba Walker, and Donovan Mitchell but it's also hard to look past New Orleans' Jrue Holiday. He's projected for 50+ fp and has gone for at least 46 in four of the past five. The Pelicans are back home for the first time in five games and Detroit is 22nd vs. the SG over that span. Holiday dropped 37 when the two teams met up in Motown in December.

Shelvin Mack (DK: $3,500 FD: $4,000 Y! $10)

Shelvin Mack of the Grizzlies can approach a 25-30 point fantasy night today vs. an iffy Charlotte bench. Mack had a down game last time with just an 0-3 night in 14 minutes. He's poised for a bounce back and Mack does get his shots with 8+ fg attempts in the six games prior. Memphis has dropped 9 of 10 and feature seven players on tonight's injury report, which should mean a lot of minutes for their backup PG.

Mack has some upside tonight especially vs. Charlotte

Ricky Rubio (DK: $5,500 FD: $6,400 Y! $19)

Take a flier on Ricky Rubio tonight, as he's back in the Jazz starting lineup for the first time since January 5th? Rubio missed six games with a hamstring injury but made his return to the team coming off the bench Monday. In that contest vs. Portland, Rubio had 12 points in 13 minutes but dished out just 2 assists. The Jazz are at home again Wednesday in what should be a hard fought contest vs. Denver. The Jazz lost by 15 in Denver at the beginning of November and tonight feels like a payback contest. Utah had won six in a row prior to Monday's loss to Portland.

Forwards

Lauri Markkanen (DK: $6,600, FD; $6,900 Y! $23 )

There's solid value in Lauri Markkanen as the Bulls are actually favored over the Atlanta Hawks. Markkanen is coming off a down afternoon vs. the Cavs with just 13 points. Chicago is back at the United Center on Wednesday for just the 2nd time in eight games, which should help Markkanen's production. The last time Chicago was in a close game at home, Markkanen had 27 points and 9 rebounds. The Hawks are 22nd defensively vs. the PF position over the past five games as well.

Marco Belinelli (DK: $4,300, FD: $4,500 Y! $11 )

Is Marco Belinelli a reverse splits guy that does better on the road? The last time the Spurs F played away from San Antonio he had 34 fantasy points in 34 minutes of court time at Minnesota. The Spurs returned home on Sunday and Belinelli had just 21 fantasy points. Today, SA travels to Philadelphia. On paper the positional matchup isn't ideal (PHI 2nd) but you have to like Belinelli's minutes lately (28.1 over three games) and his field goal attempts (double digit attempts in 6 of 7). The Spurs are well rested which should mean a solid night on the road.

Centers

Hassan Whiteside ( DK: $6,000, FD: $6,800 Y! $21)

Is tonight a bounce back game for Hassan Whiteside? He's scored just a combined 20 points the last three outings but those have all been on the road. Miami is back home Wednesday vs. the Clippers and LAC is getting killed by opposing C lately (30th the past five games). Whiteside has still put up solid rebounding numbers with 8+ over the last three games even though his minutes haven't eclipsed 24 over that span. In the last four games, the Clippers have allowed 16 rebounds to DeAndre Jordan, 14 to Lamarcus Aldridge, 22 to Rudy Gobert, and 16 to Anthony Davis. You want to give at least one Miami center a roster whether that be Bam Adebayo. ($4,600). Avoid Kelly Olynyk ($3,800) and his current numbers crunch however.

Enes Kanter (DK: $5,000 FD: $6,200 Y! $19)

Could this be the night the Kanty Man gets back in the groove? Luke Kornet is out for the 1st game which means Enes Kanter gets the nod in a favorable matchup vs. Houston. The Rockets are going with the platoon of Nene, 6'6" PJ Tucker and newly acquired 6'8" Kenneth Faried at the C position. The 6'11" Kanter had 11 points in 19 minutes after missing three games with "issues." New York would be wise to utilize Kanter to improve his trade value before the deadline - if he doesn't get extradited. Of course, this means David Fizdale will pull Kanter after three minutes for 7'1" rookie Mitchell Robinson ($3,600). Eneschell Kantinson would be a great play here - if he existed.

Aron Baynes (DK:$3,500 FD:$3,700 Y!10)

Can Boston's Aron Baynes squeeze out about a 25 minute night vs. Cleveland? This game is likely going to get ugly and Boston starter Al Horford is out (rest) anyway. The C's opened as -17.5 favorites as Cleveland looked pretty 'over it' in Monday's 16 point loss to the Bulls who came in to town on a 10 game losing streak. Robin Lopez had 8 points and 9 rebounds for the Bulls vs. the Cavs while Bobby Portis and Jabari Parker combined for 25 off the bench at the PF/C position. The last time Baynes logged more than 20 minutes, he grabbed 12 rebounds 1/18 vs. Memphis. Tonight is just Baynes' 5th game back from a hand injury, so why not use the blowout to get him into game shape? Al

There's at least some potential for Baynes vs. the Cavs tonight

It's an action packed Wednesday in the NBA. Get it while you can tonight as tomorrow's 4-game slate means a little different strategizing. Until then, feel free to follow Carl Taylor (@dailydogsports) for more sports betting insights and oversights.
