Guards
Kyle Lowry, TOR [vs PHO] (DK: $8.7k, FD: $8.5k)
It's historically a bad idea to fade Russell Westbrook in small slates but if there were a slate to do it on this might be the one. Westbrook only put up 37 fantasy points against Utah earlier in the year, though I would still heavily consider playing him tonight. Lowry on the other hand gets the highest scoring game of the slate, though with significant blowout potential at a 13.5 point spread in favor of the Raptors. The Suns are ranked 25th against starting point guards allowing 36 fantasy points a game and even more on the road.
Alec Burks, UTA [@OKC] (DK: $4.5k, FD: $4.8k)
This choice may be the one that makes or breaks lineups tonight. With how red hot Burks has been, it's going to be impossible to ignore him. We don't yet know if Rodney Hood will be back and if he remains out, Burks has to remain in play. In either case Burks has a good chance of being the highest owned player tonight so fading him is a viable option in a tournament. Though he's still dirt cheap and it's hard to imagine his team would shelve him to the point of not meeting his current salary value.
Mike James, PHO [@TOR] (DK: $4.2k, FD: $4.5k)
If you believe the Suns are going to get blown out quickly tonight, the ball could be in Mike James hands for a lot of garbage time. He only played 5 minutes yesterday, perhaps in anticipation of the Suns needing him to log heavy minutes tonight.
Forwards
Otto Porter, WAS [@POR] (DK: $6.9k, FD: $7k)
The Wizards saw Portland 10 days ago which was their first game without John Wall and Porter stepped up and had a huge game. Since then the Wizards have looked lost at times, as Beal hasn't been able to get the job done. Porter has had 13 or more field goal attempts in each game since John Wall went down, and just needs to find a way to get them down in order to have another good game.
Al-Farouq Aminu, POR [vs WAS] (DK: $4.2k, FD: $4.6k)
Aminu has been back for 2 games now and logged 26 minutes in his last game, so his minutes cap should be nearing the end. Pat Connaughton put up 30 fantasy points in 37 minutes the last time Portland met the Wizards ten days ago without Aminu, and the Wizards are struggling to get by without John Wall. If Aminu is given enough court time tonight and his shots start falling, Aminu could provide some sneaky value tonight.
Pascal Siakam, TOR [vs PHO] (DK: $3.9k, FD: $4.8k)
This is a bit better play on DraftKings due to the much lower salary. The Raptors are already without Lucas Nogueira, and Jakob Poeltl was the main beneficiary of that last game. Poeltl missed Monday's practice due to illness and is probable to play, but if he's limited that would help Siakam. This game also has significant blowout potential which would be appealing for Siakam as well.
Centers
Steven Adams, OKC [vs UTA] (DK: $5.9k, FD: $6.9k)
There are no safe picks at center tonight in this small slate. Adams has been playing extremely well as of late, and nearly 4 fantasy points per game better when playing at home. If Westbrook is unable to get the job done tonight, the task is going to fall to the other guys so Adams could be worth a look on a night when the center position is a black hole.
Jonas Valanciunas, TOR [vs PHO] (DK: $4.8k, FD: $4.9k)
He's scoring over 1 fantasy points per minute, the problem is that his coach almost never lets him see more than 20 minutes on the court. He has significant upside in games he's able to get more court time, but it's hard to predict when those come, which means he remains a tournament only play. The matchup is great, the Suns are ranked 28th against starting centers allowing 35 fantasy points a game.
Greg Monroe, PHO [@TOR] (DK: $4.5k, FD: $4.5k)
He came back and had a big game after sitting out his last game on November 28th and Chandler sat out the last back to back, so if history holds Monroe will end up getting the start and Chandler would sit out. Of course if all 3 Suns centers are active, I would toss this play out the window as who knows what they'll do. As noted above, tonight is a black hole at center, all options are on the table tonight.
