Top NBA Plays 1/28 | Men (and Women) at Work

Well hey, it's national "have fun at work day" which is a weird way to look at a Monday. For NBA DFS players, we've got a solid week of work ahead of us, as there are at least five games every night from Monday through Friday. It all gets underway with 5 contests tonight. There are no real 'toss up' games this evening but none of the matchups look like extreme blow-outs either.

Tonight's Headline Games

With the news that Anthony Davis wants out of New Orleans, is it just a matter of time before he's traded to the Golden State Warriors? Who would win, GSW or a team built of all the other best players in the league? Either way Golden State is in action again Monday as "only" -8 favorites. Could the Warriors opponent tonight, the Indiana Pacers, be a dark horse favorite for a landing spot for Davis as they play their second game P.O (post Oladipo)?

The Gorton's Fishy Game of the Night® is the Denver Nuggets traveling to the Memphis Grizzlies. Memphis has lost 8 of 10 but the 2nd place Nuggets are just -6 favorites at the FedEx Forum. If Memphis 'keeps it close' does that give somebody like Jaren Jackson, Jr.($5,700) extra value?

Brooklyn Nets coach Kenny Atkinson essentially put D'Angelo Russell ($8,600) in the corner on time out Friday vs. the Knicks after getting T'd up. As a result, Russell's streak of 50+ point fantasy nights was halted at three. Can you trust Brooklyn's PG tonight vs. the Boston Celtics (-10.5). It's a solid matchup for Russell as he went for 34 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists when the teams met up two weeks ago.

Guards

Darren Collison (DK: $5,900, FD: $6,700 Y! $20)

Who is going to be the biggest benefactor from Victor Oladipo's season ending injury. According to the usage matrix and the first game after Oladipo got hurt, it's Darren Collison. Tyreke Evans ($5,200) takes Oladipo's spot in the starting lineup but it was Collison who had 18 points and 9 assists in last game's loss to Memphis. Collison's fantasy points go up 5 without Oladipo in the lineup and today's opponent, Golden State, has allowed the 27th most fantasy points to PG over the last five games.

Strangely enough Collison is the only Pacer that sees an increase with 'Dipo out.

Jeremy Lamb (DK: $5,600 FD: $5,900 Y! $19)

If you live in the Midwest, you know that the Winter is going out like a Lion. That shouldn't stop a play on Jeremy Lamb Monday, however. The Knicks coming in on a back-to-back vs. the Hornets, who have had the weekend off, is about all you need to know for this matchup. Lamb has scored at least 14 points in 6 of 7 games and has at least 4 rebounds in all those matchups. Lamb is projected for 27 fp, but a 35+ game isn't out of the question. New York ranks 29th defensively vs. the SG position and are two guards short, as Emmanuel Mudiay and Frank Ntilikina both likely sit.

Allonzo Trier (DK: $5,300 FD: $5,300 Y! $15)

It's time again to play everybody's favorite game show, "Who Will Knicks Coach David Fizdale Play Tonight." This is a very special episode as New York plays without Emmanuel Mudiay (shoulder) and Frank Ntilikina (groin) in the backcourt. A big chalk play is Trey Burke ($4,200) as he had 16 points in 23 minutes as Ntilikina's replacement after he got hurt last night. The ownership is a bit lower on Allonzo Trier however, which makes him a solid play. Trier logged 19 minutes last night so he should be good to go on a B2B at Charlotte. Trier's ceiling is nice too, as he put up 31 points and grabbed 10 boards when he received 32 minutes vs. the Rockets five days ago.

Forwards

Bojan Bogdanovic (DK: $5,600, FD; $5,700 Y! $19 )

The price is right for Bojan Bogdanovic today, as the Pacers host the Warriors. What you like about Bogdanovic is his consistent floor, scoring at least 25 fantasy points in three straight games. Indiana is now without Victor Oladipo, which will open up some scoring opportunities at the SF position. Golden State has given up 34+ fantasy points to the last two small forwards who have logged more than 30 minutes against them (Jayson Tatum 34.25, Tobias Harris 41.75) and Bogdanovic has played at least 33 minutes in 4 of the last 5.

Bruno Caboclo (DK: $3,400, FD: $3,900 Y! $10 )

Looking for an unknown / upside / contrarian play for Monday, then consider Bruno Caboclo of the Grizzlies. The SF has played just two games for Memphis after signing a 10-day contract. He was named the G-League Player of the Week last week and logged an impressive 28 minutes vs. Indiana Saturday (11 points, 4 rebounds). The minutes should be there again as Memphis is banged up at the forward position with JaMychal Green, Kyle Anderson, and Omri Casspi possible to miss tonight's game. Caboclo "the Brazilian KD" is playing hungry and represents a nice dark horse play.

Torrey Craig (DK: $4,500 FD: $4,7,600 Y!: $11)

Denver's Torrey Craig has logged 35 and 38 minutes in two of the last three games the Nuggets have played. Monday's contest vs. the Grizzlies should be closer than it looks, mainly because the spread of Denver -6 seems like a trap. Craig is coming off a solid 15 point outing Saturday vs. the Sixers. Memphis is also very thin at the forward position with JaMychal Green, Omri Casspi, and Kyle Anderson all in danger of missing tonight's contest.

Denver / Memphis is looking like a defensive matchup at this point.

Centers

Alex Len ( DK: $4,300, FD: $4,200 Y! $11)

If Alex Len can get on the court, he's got a great chance at a huge upside night vs. the Clippers, who are in game two of a B2B. Atlanta is pretty solid on the front line but there's no reason Len shouldn't be seeing more court time. When he logged 30 minutes two weeks ago vs. OKC, Len responded with a 24 point, 11 rebound night. He's now played less than 15 minutes in two of the last three, however. The Clippers are 30th vs. the C position which bodes well for Dewayne Dedmon ($5,500). You still like Len's upside though, especially if Lloyd Pierce accidentally puts him in when he really meant "Lin", as in Jeremy.

Dewayne Dedmon (DK:$5,500 FD:$6,300 Y!17)

Don't like the risk of Alex Len getting limited PT and have an extra $1,000+ to spend? The Clippers are so bad vs. the C position that either (or both) of Atlanta's centers, including Dewayne Dedmon would be a solid play. Ownership is only 8% for Dedmon which seems weird considering he's a legitimate 40 point fantasy threat tonight. LA has allowed 38+ fantasy points to 4 of the past 5 centers they've faced - plus the Clippers are on leg two of a B2B today.

Ownership is low for Dedmon despite the fact he has the best defense matchup at C of the night.

Ed Davis (DK: $4,000 FD: $4,300 Y! $12)

People are liking Brooklyn's Jarrett Allen ($5,500) vs. Boston after he had a 19 point, 12 rebound performance vs. the C's two weeks ago. A cheaper option in that matchup is Ed Davis, who has, at the very least, been a rebounding machine lately. Davis has grabbed 16 boards in two of the last three games and the Celtics are a middle-of-the-pack rebounding team. Allen played just 19 minutes last game and Davis got to the line 11 times in 28 minutes of action. Does Kenny Atkinson reward that performance with more minutes? Does Davis play a lot anyway in a blowout, as Boston is favored by -10.5?

It's a solid card for Monday that expands a bit tomorrow with 7 games scheduled for Tuesday. Until then, feel free to follow Carl Taylor (@dailydogsports) for more sports betting insights and oversights.
