Top NBA Plays 1/29 | The Nifty 50
Two straight nights with a 50+ performance in the NBA after Eric Gordon burger'd on Monday and Khris Middleton went for 51 last night. Let's keep the streak going (they have to score it - we have to find them) on a 6-game Wednesday card.
Tonight's DFS Headlines
Bulls @ Pacers
Victor Oladipo is back for Indiana and every DFS player is asking the same question - what's that do for usage? Indiana's post players should be the ones to put up numbers tonight against the Bulls #30 ranked D vs. the PF and C. Myles Turner would have a hard time hitting 3X vs. Tyrion Lannister though.
Pistons @ Nets
Kyrie Irving went for 45 real points on Saturday vs. Detroit - on the road - and will be playing his 1st game since sitting Sunday due to the emotional toil of Kobe Bryant's death. Derrick Rose has one more game to try and wow the Eastern Conference coaches in an attempt to get added to the reserves list for the all-star game.
Grizzlies @ Knicks
Both Memphis and the Knicks played last night, burning up huge 30+ minute nights from Morant, Brooks, Valanciunas, Jackson, Jr., Randle, Morris, and Payton. Take that into account and look to bench step ups or play as normal?
Jazz @ Spurs
The home team has taken 5 straight in this series which does bode well for San Antonio. Utah is 8th in defensive efficiency though, and LaMarcus Aldridge (thumb) is leaning towards miss in the 'hit or miss' injury report.
Rockets @ Trail Blazers
Who's In and Who's Out Here? Russell Westbrook is back for sure for Houston after resting on the back-to-back on Monday but James Harden (thigh) and Clint Capela (heel) are iffy in this one. CJ McCollum did return last game for the 'Blazers but it's still Damian Lillard's world right now (158 real points last three).
Thunder @ Kings
The Kings could be pretty exhausted in this one after exerting their will in coming back from a 27-point deficit in the third quarter to beat Minnesota on Monday. Chris Paul is one of the many players to take a grievance day after Kobe's death, choosing to sit out Monday's game vs. Dallas.
Guards
Russell Westbrook DK $10.4k | FD $11k
Not exactly unearthing a diamond in the rough here but Russell Westbrook is a must play. He's got a matchup with Portland and so far this season the lines have been 31/11/12 and 28/13/10 vs. the Blazers. James Harden has missed the last two games with a thigh contusion and if he's out (as well as Clint Capela) Westbrook's already high usage goes up 7.35%. Throw in Westbrook being an L.A. guy and the emotions of Kobe and the recipe is right for a big game.
Derrick Rose DK $7.6k | FD $7.5k
Brooklyn ranks 29th defensively vs. the PG position which is great for Derrick Rose in his last showcase before all-star reserves are selected on Thursday. Rose wants to get back to the all-star game, especially since it's in his hometown of Chicago this season. Rose has gone for 45+ fp in 3 of the last 5 which would be 6X this price. That includes a 27 point, 4 rebound, 6 assist night last Friday vs. these Nets. After sitting last game vs. Cleveland (knee), Rose is fresh and ready.
Patty Mills DK $4k | FD $4.1k
A nice option for tonight is Patty Mills, up against Utah's #1 defense vs. the SG position. The Jazz were completely exploited at the SG by Eric Gordon last game though, as he went for a career high 50 points. LaMarcus Aldridge is expected to miss his 2nd straight game for San Antonio tonight, and Mills had a 25 point night vs. the Bulls in his absence last game.
Forwards
TJ Warren DK $5.8k | FD $5.7k
It's hard to ignore the upside for TJ Warren tonight vs. Chicago even though he's one of those players who only has good nights when you don't roster him. The Bulls are horrible defensively in the front court, ranking 25th dVP against the SF and 30th against the PF. Oladipo is back for Indiana tonight, but Turner, Brogdon, T.J. Leaf are all in danger of missing the game.
Trevor Ariza DK $4.9k | FD $3.7k
Trevor Ariza is refreshed after being traded to a playoff contender, as evidenced by his season high 21 points in his debut on January 23rd. Ariza is a starter in a game with a total of 238.5 and under $4k on FD - and he's up against his old team, Houston.
Danuel House, Jr. DK $5.5k | FD $4.2k
A great FD price for Danuel House as he went for 21 points and 11 rebounds last game (albeit with Harden, Westbrook, and Capela out). House gets a matchup with Carmelo Anthony's defense tonight and should have a good night on the boards as Portland is 26th in the league in rebounding, and also allowing 8 reb/game to PF starters.
Center
Hassan Whiteside DK $8.5k | FD $8.9k
Houston gets a little thin in the front court if Capela cannot go, which would make Hassan Whiteside an even better play. The Portland big man has solid upside anyway though, as he has broken the 53 point fantasy barrier in 3 of the last 5 games. Whiteside has 14+ boards in 4 of the last 6 and the Rockets are middle-of-the-pack 16th in rebound rate.
