Top NBA Plays 1/4| Can I Get an Encore - Do You Want More?
We were cooking raw with the Charlotte boy last night as Steph Curry posted the first 60 burger of the NBA season with 62 points vs. Portland (69fp). Curry is back for an encore tonight ($9.5k) but is he a fade on the back-to-back?
Maybe Trae Young ($9.4k) looks at Curry's performance and says hold my BODYARMOR as he has gone for 42 and 48 real points the last two against tonight's opponent the Knicks. Either way, it's a jacked-up 9-game slate to kick off the week so let's dig in.
Today's NBA Matchups
Cavs @ Magic (-5), O/U OFF, 7:00 PM ET
Collin Sexton ($7.1k) has scored 20+ points in 11 straight games but averaged just 18 in three games with Orlando last season. Andre Drummond ($9.5k) grabbed 18 boards in a matchup with the Magic last year as a member of the Pistons.
Notable Injuries: Darius Garland is questionable with a shoulder injury. Evan Fournier missed the last game with back spasms.
Hornets @ 76ers (-9.5), O/U 219 7:00 PM ET
These two teams met up on Saturday in a 127-112 Sixers win that was their 12th straight over the Hornets. Ben Simmons ($8.7k) had a triple double, Joel Embiid ($9.9k) put up 19/14, and Terry Rozier ($7.1k) dropped 35 real points in that meeting.
Notable Injuries: P.J. Washington is questionable with a bruised thumb.
Knicks @ Hawks (-6.5), O/U 223.5 7:30 PM ET
These two teams combined for 267 points when they last met up in March, but the Hawks are playing their 3rd game in 4 nights while the Knicks are wrapping up a 4-game road trip. The betting total suggests a lower scoring game.
Notable Injuries: The Knicks injured list is still a wreck, while the Hawks are likely still without Rajon Rondo (knee) and possibly Kevin Huerter (ankle).
Thunder @ Heat (-8.5), O/U 213.5 7:30 PM ET
Miami is 19th in pace and OKC 21st, and combined with the betting total of 213.5 this game doesn't exactly scream "high flying."
Celtics @ Raptors (-3), O/U 216 7:30 PM ET
Boston is an underdog at 1-4 Toronto due mostly to the C's playing on a back-to-back after a hard fought 122-120 win at Detroit yesterday afternoon. Jayson Tatum (36:40), Jaylon Brown (34:54), and Marcus Smart (34:10) logged significant minutes vs. the Pistons.
Notable Injuries: Jeff Teague left with a sprained ankle yesterday.
Mavs @ Rockets (-1), O/U OFF 8:00 PM ET
Rockets coach Stephen Silas spent the last two years as an assistant with Dallas, so he should know Mavs players and their defense as well as anybody. Dallas is also on the back-to-back after a 10-point loss to the Bulls yesterday.
Notable Injuries: Luka Doncic missed yesterday's game with a quad injury. James Harden is expected to return after sitting out Saturday (ankle).
Pistons @ Bucks (-14), O/U 227.5 8:00 PM ET
1-5 Detroit was in trouble in this spot anyway, but now they have to play Milwaukee on the back to back. The Pistons were competitive in a 122-120 home loss to Boston yesterday, however. The Bucks have won 11 straight in this series.
Pacers @ Pelicans (-1.5), O/U 219 8:00 PM ET
The Pacers launched 50 three pointers in their loss to the Knicks on Saturday, hitting a respectable 19 of them (38%). New Orleans has a new coach and this betting total is low, but the Pelicans did put up 120+ in both of their games against the Pacers last year (2-0).
Notable Injuries: TJ Warren is out indefinitely with a stress fracture in his foot.
Kings (-2.5) @ Warriors, O/U 232 10:00 PM ET
The Warriors are on the back-to-back, but that might be a good thing as they were red hot in a 137-122 win over Portland last night. Steph Curry joined the 60+ real point club, hitting 18 of 31 shots including 8 of 16 from three.
Notable Injuries: Tyrese Haliburton is out with a wrist injury.
Tonight's Point Guard / Shooting Guard Notables
Buddy Hield DK $6.8k | FD $5.7k
Great FD pricing playing a Golden State team on the back-to-back. The Warriors have allowed 2 perfect lineup SGs so far and the Kings are also without Tyrese Haliburton.
Collin Sexton DK $7.2k | FD $7.1k
We've got a 🎂Birthday Play🎂 , but Collin Sexton would have value regardless as he's taken at least 15 shots in every game so far this year, scoring 20+ real points in 11 straight. Gets a 3% usage boost if Darius Garland (shoulder) sits.
Fred VanVleet DK $7.7k | FD $7.9k
Fred VanVleet is pulling his best J-Lo impersonation and saying ENOUGH to Toronto's 1-4 start. FVV has shot 23 and 19 times the last two games and gets a Boston team on the back-to-back.
Jalen Brunson DK $3.9k | FD $4.5k
Somebody call NORAD because we need a 🔭Luka Watch 🔭tonight. With Doncic out of the lineup yesterday, Jalen Brunson went for 31/5/7. Luka is also 3rd in the NBA in usage though, so guess what that does to Brunson's value if he does play. Brunson did play 38 minutes yesterday too.
Elfrid Payton DK $6| FD $5.3k
Payton loves the up pace games (+34%) and has 40fppg vs. Atlanta the last two times despite scoring just 12 and 11 points (although both went to OT).
Tonight's SF / PF Notables
Julius Randle DK $9 k | FD $8.1k
Still good FD pricing on Julius Randle who has hit nearly 7X in two of the last four. He gets a ton of minutes (37+ in four straight), shots (12+ last four), and rebounds (10+ last four) and plays a Hawks team getting lit up by the PF spot.
Dwayne Bacon DK $3.6k | FD $3.5k
🥓The Baconator 🥓 gets a decent amount of shots for this price (11, 9, 10 the last three) and has a matchup featuring Orlando's #10 pace against Cleveland's #11 tempo.
Norman Powell $4.1k | FD $3.7k
Could we be seeing a return to the Norman Powell usage of last year? In the last two games, he's averaging 11.5 shots and is matched up with a Boston team on the back to back. If the guy would ever get a peripheral though; 1.6 rpg, 0.8 apg.
Doug McDermott $4.7k | FD $3.9k
Is the 💣Bombs Away💣approach here to stay for the Pacers, who tossed up 50 three pointers on Saturday? If so, it would seem to benefit Doug McDermott, who has taken 13 shots in each of the last two games since T.J. Warren's injury.
Saddiq Bey DK $3.9k | FD $4.2k
There's no official word yet, but it wouldn't be a shocker to see Blake Griffin and/or Derrick Rose sit out the b2b in a lopsided game against the Bucks. Bey has 30 mpg the last two times Griffin has sat, including a 31 fp game Saturday vs. Boston.
Kelly Oubre $5.5k | FD $5.2k
He played 33 minutes yesterday, but last year against the Kings (with the Suns) Kelly Oubre, Jr. had 21/9, 20/8, 20/15/5, and 17/6 in a foul trouble game. He likes the matchup.
Tonight's Center Position Notables
Bobby Portis DK $4.9k | FD $4.7k
Had 12 boards en route to a 33 fp night in a 30 point win over Chicago on Saturday. Bobby Portis always plays well against his old squad the Bulls, but Milwaukee is in a similar blowout spot tonight against a bad Pistons team that is on a b2b.
Clint Capela DK $6.1k | FD $6.5k
Clint Capela has shown nice improvement with 23, 33, and 47 fp the last three games. He posted a 16/16 line on Saturday in a game in which Atlanta scored just 91 points and against the Cavs who are top 5 dVp against Centers. The Knicks are 29th.
