Top NBA Plays 1/5| Tired Is Now Wired

Maybe it's because it's early in the season or maybe it's because there's no nightlife in NBA cities anymore, but teams on 0 days rest went 3-0 last night. Not only did Boston, Dallas, and Golden State win, they all did so by at least double digits, and in the Warriors case 36 points.

There are no back-to-backs on tonight's 5-game slate, but the lack of poor play on 0 days rest is something to watch and tweak moving forward.

Today's NBA Matchups

Jazz (-4) @ Nets, O/U 228.5, 7:30 PM ET

The Jazz might be a target team tonight as the Nets are allowing 120 ppg their last five (1-4). Brooklyn also begins a week without Kevin Durant, who has gone into the COVID protocol and has to quarantine for a week.

Notable Injuries: Durant is going through health and safety protocols.

Lakers (-9) @ Grizzlies, O/U 218 8:00 PM ET

These teams met up on Sunday in a low scoring 108-94 win for the Lakers. Both teams had under 97 possessions in that slow paced contest.

Notable Injuries: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope missed Sunday's game with a sprained ankle.

Timberwolves @ Nuggets (-11.5), O/U 227 9:00 PM ET

Oddsmakers are calling this one a 🕯️Blowout Game🕯️with Denver nearly a dozen point favorites. The Nuggets won this matchup 124-109 on Sunday, but it was close until the end with the T'Wolves actually taking a 1-point lead into the 4th which did help DFS purposes.

Notable Injuries: Michael Porter, Jr. has been ruled out as he works through the health and safety protocols.

Spurs @ Clippers (-8), O/U OFF 10:00 PM ET

The Spurs gave up 130 to the Jazz on Sunday, and Utah runs the 5th slowest pace in the league. Does that make the Clippers a viable target, since they run the 2nd slowest tempo?

Notable Injuries: Lamarcus Aldridge (knee) and Derrick White (toe) look to be out tonight.

Bulls @ Trail Blazers (-9.5), O/U 234.5 10:30 PM ET

The Trail Blazers got lit up for 62 real points by Steph Curry in their last game, does that mean a big game for Pacific Northwest native son Zach LaVine ($8.1k)?

Notable Injuries: Lauri Markkanen (calf) is out for the Bulls but Rodney Hood (quad) is questionable for Portland.

Tonight's Point Guard / Shooting Guard Notables

Coby White DK $6.7k | FD $6.2k

He's getting the shots (13+ in five straight), it's just that they don't really go in the basket. Coby White does get some peripherals (10 assists on New Year's Eve) and plays a Portland team that allowed 62 real points to Steph Curry at the PG spot on Sunday.

Caris LeVert DK $6.6 k | FD $6.1k

Caris LeVert goes chalk for the next 7 days with Durant in COVID protocol. He has just a 29fp ceiling the last three games but gets a 7.86% usage boost and a nearly 15 fp increase without KD.

A lot of usage available with Durant out.

Malik Beasley DK $6.3k | FD $5.6k

It's 🔪Revenge Game🔪 2.0 tonight for Malik Beasley, who put up 25/5/7 against his former team the Nuggets on Sunday. This is a very blatant chase, but the last meeting between the two teams was in Minnesota, and they travel to the Pepsi Center tonight, where Beasley is very comfortable.

Jordan Clarkson DK $5.2k | FD $5.3k

Jordan Clarkson has yet to break the 30fp barrier this season, but his time may be here tonight. The minutes have to be there vs. Brooklyn's #4 pace, and because the Jazz need to save some resources for the visit to Madison Square Garden tomorrow night.

One thing to like about Clarkson is that he has a consistent floor.

Joe Harris DK $5.6k | FD $4.6k

That's a must play FD price for Joe Harris, who gets 10+ shots the last five games even with Durant playing. Harris gets a 6fp increase in the Usage Matrix when Durant is out of the lineup.

Monte Morris DK $4.8| FD $4.5k

The Timberwolves kept Sunday's matchup with Denver close, which helps the Monte Morris production. If tonight is the blowout oddsmakers expect, the Denver PG should shine like in the 10-15 night he had on the 2nd leg of a back to back on 12/29.

Tonight's SF / PF Notables

Kawhi Leonard DK $9.1k | FD $10.1k

Kawhi Leonard gets a matchup with his ole buddy Gregg Popovich and the Spurs tonight. Is this a 🔪Revenge Game🔪 or not though, as Leonard posted lines of 22/6/7, 26/7/9, 19/7/7, and 38/12/1 in four games vs. San Antonio last year. Good, but not overly exceptional by Kawhi's standards.

Will Barton $5.7k | FD $5.4k

Had a 3-11 shooting night vs. Minnesota on Sunday, but should be better from the field when the series shifts back to Denver tonight. The Timberwolves allowed a 30+ fp night to Deni Advija two games ago.

Otto Porter, Jr. $6.4k | FD $5.3k

Great FD price for Otto Porter, who like Chicago's Coby White is getting the shots, they just aren't falling. Porter is 4-11 and 3-11 the last two following a 10-14 shooting night against Washington, but the Trail Blazers have the 4th worst shooting defense in the league.

Royce O'Neale DK $4.8k | FD $4.5k

Royce O'Neale should have a big night on the boards vs. a Nets team that is 6th worst in rebound rate. O'Neale grabbed 11 rebounds on Sunday vs. the Spurs, and Utah gets the 2nd best pace boost of the night.

Carmelo Anthony $4.4k | FD $4.2k

You know Carmelo Anthony's trigger finger is getting itchy after taking less than 10 shots in four straight games. The Bulls run the #2 pace in the league, and Anthony averaged 24/9.5 in two games vs. Chicago last season (albeit in increased minutes).

Tonight's Center Position Notables

Rudy Gobert DK $7.7k | FD $8.2k

Jokic is on this slate for $10.5k, but he's had some foul trouble lately. Rudy Gobert is coming off a 16 rebound performance against the Spurs, and is up against a Brooklyn team that allowed 58 points in the paint to Washington last time out.

Jarrett Allen DK $5.8k | FD $5.8k

Not a great matchup with the Jazz and their #2 rebound rate, but that's what contrarian plays are for. Utah also faces the Knicks tomorrow night, so we may not see the full dose of Rudy Gobert.
