Top NBA Plays 2/21 | Back to Full Strength

The all-star game is officially in the rear view mirror with a prosperous 9-game slate scheduled for Friday. Four of those games are pushing betting totals in the 230s and 7 of the 9 are 224 or higher. Points, points, points seem to be on tap, so let's delve into the card:

Tonight's DFS Headlines

Mavericks @ Magic

Orlando won their last two games before the break, finding their offense in scoring 135 and 116 points. Luka Doncic returned for Dallas before the all-star break, leading the Mavs to a 130-111 win over Sacramento.

Cavs @ Wizards

Do the Cavs get a boost with 40-year old JB Bickerstaff taking over for the departed John Beilein? This is a must win for the Wizards, as they are just 3 GB from the 8 seed in the East.

Pacers @ Knicks

Indiana at New York is a hard game to target considering it has the lowest O/U of the night at just 212.

Suns @ Raptors

Toronto had won 15 games in a row before falling by 10 to the Nets before the all-star break. The Raptors should be able to start a new streak as both Devin Booker and Kelly Oubre are shooting less than 36% from the field in the three games prior to the layoff.

Celtics @ Timberwolves

No Kemba Walker for the Celtics tonight (sore left knee). Marcus Smart gets an 8fp boost with Walker out vs. a Timberwolves team that is also missing Karl-Anthony Towns (wrist).

Nuggets @ Thunder

The Nuggets have beaten Oklahoma City 7 straight times including December 14th when Nikola Jokic went for 28/14/12 en route to a 70 fp night. Denver could be getting Michael Porter, Jr. and / or Mason Plumlee and Will Barton back tonight.

Spurs @ Jazz

The Spurs pulled off an almost inexplicable win last Tuesday in Oklahoma City without DeMar DeRozan, which snapped a 5-game losing streak. DeRozan is back tonight, but San Antonio has still allowed 122+ points in 4 of their last 5 games.

Grizzlies @ Lakers

The Grizzlies may have been guilty of looking ahead to tonight's game with the Lakers after falling 125-129 to Sacramento last night. Ja Morant's production has gone down 26% in back-to-backs during his rookie campaign but tonight's betting total is still up there at 233.5.

Pelicans @ Trail Blazers

Portland begins life without Damian Lillard (groin) for a couple weeks and CJ McCollum ($6.6k) is the obvious benefactor with a 9% usage increase. It should also be a big night for Zion Williamson ($8k) vs. Portland's #30 ranked defense vs. the PF position. Williamson had 31/9/5 vs. the Blazers 10 days ago.

Guards

CJ McCollum DK $6.6k | FD $6.9k

Do we take the bait on CJ McCollum tonight with Damian Lillard and his 20+ shot attempts out of the Portland lineup? McCollum needs 39 fp for 6X and he gets a 10.37 fp and 9% usage increase with Dame out of the lineup. New Orleans ranks 23rd defensively vs. the SG and the betting total for this one is sky high at 238.5. It's chalk, but good chalk.

Marcus Smart DK $5.9k | FD $5.4k

You have to go with Marcus Smart at under $6k tonight vs. D'Angelo Russell's "defense" don't you? The T'Wolves rank 27th defensively vs. the SG position but expect Smart to man a lot of the point tonight with Kemba Walker (knee) out. Smart gets nearly a 9 fp boost with Walker out of the lineup and the Timberwolves have allowed 45+ fp to 4 of the last 5 PGs they've faced.

PGs are lighting up the T'Wolves lately.

Kevin Porter, Jr. DK $4.7k | FD $4.6k

It's out with the old and in with the new as Cleveland turns to JB Bickerstaff in the wake of firing John Beilein a minute into his 4-year contract. By all accounts, Bickerstaff is going to give Kevin Porter, Jr. the chance to be a star. And what better team to start against than the Wizards and their #29 defensive efficiency? Bickerstaff has said that Porter will play some PG and Washington is 28th defensively vs. that position. The betting total is 236 in this one.

Forwards

DeMar DeRozan DK $6.8k | FD $7.2k

DeMar DeRozan was an $8.1k player back on February 8th and you have to like him for that DK price tonight regardless of the matchup with Utah's top 10 defense. DeRozan had 38 real points vs. Utah on January 29th and should be fresh after having the last 12 days off.

A great price tag on DeRozan tonight (DK).

Carmelo Anthony DK $5.3k | FD $4.9k

In the last game before the break, Carmelo Anthony grabbed 15 rebounds and took 15 shots. Granted, he only made one of those shots but that's still nice usage - and it came with Lillard in the lineup. Lillard is out tonight and 'Melo gets the ESPN game against hyped rookie Zion Williamson. It's a good spot to roster Carmelo because it's a process of elimination. If he doesn't 🏀 out tonight in the ideal spot, you don't have to worry about playing him the rest of the season.

Juancho Hernangomez DK $4.7k | FD $4.7k

The sample size is small, but in the three games since Juancho Hernangomez has joined the Timberwolves he has scored at least 14 real points in each. Before the break, and while playing without Karl-Anthony Towns, Hernangomez had a 16 point, 12 rebound night while logging 37 minutes. The all-star break has allowed Hernangomez to become even more familiar with the T'Wolves' system and Towns (wrist) is out yet again.

Boston hasn't been as dominant as you'd expect vs. the PF lately.

Center

Serge Ibaka DK $6.5k | FD $6.6k

Serge Ibaka is on a nice little tear for Toronto while Marc Gasol is sidelined. Ibaka went for 40+ fp in 3 of 4 games before the break which would be 6X ROI on tonight's price. He's got a great chance to keep that going vs. the Suns' post defense that ranks 27th vs. the C. Deandre Ayton (ankle) and Aron Baynes (hip) could both be back for Phoenix - but we don't know if that's good or bad for Ibaka's production.

People are laying off Ibaka tonight which is good.

Today's SuperDraft multiplier must-play is CJ McCollum. There are about 20 extra shots to go around in Portland while Damian Lillard is out. It's a great night for McCollum to go off vs. the Pelicans in a game with a betting total of 238.5.
