Top NBA Plays 2/4 | Now It's (Still) NBA Season
One of the lamest Twitter jokes after the Super Bowl yesterday was the stock, "hooray, it's baseball season." Do they forget March Madness let alone an NBA 2nd half that is poised to be one of the best in recent memories - mostly because Golden State isn't involved? And that's before the shakedowns that are sure to come at this Thursday's trade deadline.
It is, it was, and it shall remain to be NBA season. Pop the aspirin, digest yesterday's wings, and let's dig in to Monday's 10-gamer.
Tonight's DFS Headlines
Magic @ Hornets
Orlando has lost 7 of 8 and are second to last in the league in scoring. Charlotte has that beat though, with defeats in 10 of their last 11 and are the NBA's worst scoring offense. The betting total is just 202.5 for this.
Knicks @ Cavs
Might be a good night to target the Knicks, as Cleveland has lost 10 of 11 and 10 overall at home. The Cavs just gave up 131 points to the lowly Warriors on Saturday.
Mavs @ Pacers
Keep an eye on the injury report in this one, as Luka Doncic (ankle) is out again and joined by Seth Curry (knee). Kristaps Porzingis is set to come back after rest for Dallas but the Pacers will be without TJ Warren (concussion).
Warriors @ Wizards
Bradley Beal ($10.1k) has gone for 50+ fp in six straight games, and has a matchup with Golden State's #29 dVp against the SG spot.
Celtics @ Hawks
Good game for the LineStar usage matrix, as Kemba Walker (knee) and Marcus Smart (thigh) are missing for Boston while Trae Young (ankle) left Saturday's game with an ankle injury.
Suns @ Nets
Is Brooklyn back to being Spencer Dinwiddie's ($8k) with Kyrie Irving going down with a knee injury?
76ers @ Heat
This matchup has the potential to be a 🍷Hangover Game 🍷 as the 76ers flew into South Beach in time for the Super Bowl and/or associated after parties. Heat players probably didn't sit home playing Fortnite themselves though.
Pistons @ Grizzlies
Memphis didn't look so hot on Friday, giving up 139 points in a loss to the Pelicans. The Grizzlies will get Jaren Jackson, Jr. and Marko Guduric back from suspension against likely a Derrick Rose - less (groin) Detroit team.
Timberwolves @ Kings
Minnesota has dropped 11 in a row, one of which was to Sacramento last week when the T'Wolves had held a 27 point lead at one point. Karl-Anthony Towns ($10.6k) hasn't won a game since November 27th.
Spurs @ Clippers
The Clippers have a big 134-109 win in San Antonio on December 21st under their belts and saw Kawhi Leonard ($10.3) and Paul George ($7.8k) take the court together Saturday for the 1st time in a month.
Guards
Langston Galloway DK $3.3k | FD $3.5k
If there's ever a time for a Langston Galloway ceiling game it's tonight, as the Pistons get the best pace boost of the night against Memphis. Derrick Rose (groin) could be out and Reggie Jackson, Svi Mykhailiuk, and Bruce Brown all played more than 34 minutes in an OT win vs. Denver yesterday. Rose left after 12 minutes yesterday, so if he goes, he's fresh. Galloway will launch threes - and Memphis is 26th in the league in opponents shooting from long range.
Elfrid Payton DK $6.5k | FD $6.4k
Elfrid Payton is back from a 1-game suspension, fresh and ready to hit value vs. Cleveland's #30 defense vs. the PG position. The Cavs just gave up 131 points to Golden State on Saturday, the 5th time in the last 6 they've surrendered 115 or more. Payton has 11+ shots in 6 of the last 7, 8+ assists in six straight, and 6+ rebounds in 4 of 6. Payton should be showcasing for a trade as well.
Shabazz Napier DK $6.2k | FD $6.2k
Shabazz Napier is on an uptick lately, scoring double figures in 4 of the last 5 games. Napier has double digit assists in 2 of the last 3 and even has a 10 rebound game over that span. Napier had a 10/8/6 line vs. Sacramento on January 27th, which would be near 6X with very low ownership of 2%. The Wolves are reportedly also interested in trading for D'Angelo Russell, so it's Napier's last chance to say, "hey, I got this."
Forwards
Andrew Wiggins DK $7k | FD $7.1k
Every now and then you have to check back in on the forgotten man, Andrew Wiggins, a DFS turmoil-causer. It's an OK night to give Wiggins another chance, as he has put up good numbers vs. the Kings this season. On January 27th, Wiggins went for 36/9/8 which followed an 18/10/7 line back on December 26th. Sacramento has allowed 120+ points in 6 of the last 9 and tonight's betting total is 226.
Once in a blue moon Wiggins will have a breakthough game - one of which came against Sacramento last time.
Glenn Robinson III DK $5k | FD $4.5k
The Warriors are resting D'Angelo Russell tonight either because of a quad injury or so he doesn't get hurt before a trade. That gives a slight usage boost to Glenn Robinson III, who has gone for 30+ fp in 3 of the last 4. Robinson and Golden State looked efficient, scoring 131 on Cleveland on Saturday, and get Washington's #30 scoring defense tonight in a game with a betting total of 236.
Kristaps Porzingis DK $7k | FD $8k
As Luka Doncic continues to be sidelined, you have to play Kristaps Porzingis at $7k, even in a matchup with Indiana. The Pacers do get a bit of a blow with TJ Warren missing the game with a concussion. Porzingis had a 35 point, 12 rebound night vs. Houston on Friday, but sat on Saturday's back to back vs. Atlanta. Porzingis is fresh, and will get even more shots with Seth Curry (knee) out for the Mavs tonight.
Center
Jonas Valanciunas DK $7.1k | FD $7.2k
Detroit has really struggled vs. the C position lately, giving up a 39/10/11 line to Nikola Jokic yesterday. Andre Drummond played 30+ minutes in that game, which gives Jonas Valanciunas great value for the price. Valanciunas had just 8 points and 10 boards vs. Detroit on January 24th, but that was on the road. The Pistons could also be without Markieff Morris in the front court tonight, which gives Valanciunas an even better chance of hitting value.
