Top NBA Plays 3/12| The Other Guys
The NBA might be on the back burner for a couple of weeks as the NCAA tournament takes center stage. I've always wondered if that's the best time to find pro hoops DFS success, as others are focused on their brackets or betting from 10 AM to 10 PM.
One way to find out soon. There's a 7-gamer on the NBA docket tonight with teams still easing their way back from the week break.
Today's NBA Matchups
Sixers (-4.5) @ Wizards , O/U 234, 8:00 PM ET
Ben Simmons is likely out again for quarantine but Joel Embiid is eligible to return which is why the Sixers are -4.5 favorites. Philly should be a target, even though they're on the back to back after beating Chicago 127-105 last night. Bradley Beal is a GTD.
Nuggets (-3) @ Grizzlies, O/U 228, 8:00 PM ET
Denver plays their first game back from the break tonight, hoping to build on a 4-game win streak. Memphis has knocked down four straight too though, including a 127-112 win over the Wizards on Wednesday.
Cavs @ Pelicans (-7), O/U 228.5, 8:00 PM ET
I'm not sure anybody should be a 7-point favorite a night after falling 135-105 to the Timberwolves at home. Getting thumped did save minutes for the b2b though, as Zion Williamson was the only player over 30. The Cavs have had the last 9 days off and should be fresh.
Heat (-2.5) @ Bulls, O/U 220.5, 9:00 PM ET
It's the Jimmy Butler return to Chicago but does that even really matter anymore? Both teams are on the short turnaround, with Miami beating Orlando and the Bulls getting stomped 127-105 to an Embiid and Simmons-less Sixers squad. No Bam Adebayo (knee) for Miami.
Magic @ Spurs (-7), O/U 215, 9:00 PM ET
Nothing a banged-up team likes better than playing on 0 days rest. That's where Orlando finds themselves in tonight after falling by 8 in Miami. The Spurs will have a different look tonight, as they've agreed to part ways with LaMarcus Aldridge and DeMar DeRozan is also out for personal reasons.
Rockets @ Jazz -17, O/U 228.5, 10:00 PM ET
Utah being favored by 17 points is the biggest NBA point spread I can ever remember seeing. You usually see that in late night Gonzaga at Pepperdine games but Houston has dropped 14 straight. John Wall got scratched yesterday after hurting his knee in practice one of about a dozen things going on with the Rockets injury report.
Pacers @ Lakers (-4.5), O/U 216.5, 10:30 PM ET
The Lakers have had the last 9 days off, does that get them any healthier? The Pacers may be getting Caris LeVert (kidney) to debut over the weekend as well.
Tonight's Point Guard / Shooting Guard Notables
Russell Westbrook DK $10.2k | FD $10.1k
vs. Philadelphia
Looks like a great spot for Westbrook, playing the Sixers who are without Ben Simmons and also on the back to back. Beal is a GTD (knee) as well.
Collin Sexton DK $8.1k | FD $7.8k
@ New Orleans
Sexton is fresh with Cleveland playing their first game in 9 days. He was lighting things up prior to the break (58fp last two) and plays a New Orleans team getting torched by SGs right now. The Pels gave up 27 points to Anthony Edwards last night and 28 to his backup Jaylen Nowell off the bench. Real points.
Jordan Clarkson DK $6.4k | FD $5.5k
vs. Houston
The Jazz are supposed to beat the Rockets so badly that we may be looking at Clarkson's backup as a viable play. All the shots Clarkson wants should be there, especially as Utah should rest for an upcoming 5-game road swing.
Patty Mills $4.5k | FD $3.9k
vs. Orlando
It's time for another edition of Spurs Roulette. Somebody on San Antonio is going to have a big night vs. an Orlando team that is already thin and now plays on the back to back. Why not Patty Mills who gets a 5.33% usage and +10.15 fp jump without DeRozan and Aldridge. Derrick White (+4.79%, +11.38) is in play too.
Tonight's SF / PF Notables
Jimmy Butler DK $9.2k | FD $9.6k
@ Chicago
The back to back shouldn't mess with Butler's usage, as he played 41 then 35 minutes in consecutive nights on the West Coast last month. It's a somewhat revenge game in Chicago (Kyrie dropped 40 on Boston last night), Chicago is very bad vs. the front court, so we could see Heat small ball tonight.
Michael Porter, Jr. DK $7.4k | FD $6.7k
@ Memphis
Porter, Jr. would have hovered around 6X this price in his last three games if not for a 31 point Nuggets win and on the back to back. That limited Porter's minutes to 25, but he's hit 43fp in both games logging 30+.
Jae'Sean Tate DK $5.8k | FD $4.7
@ Jazz
There's no more P.J. Tucker as he waits to an exodus from Houston, and Wall and Oladipo are both GTD's. The Jazz are supposed to dominate Houston, so it could be a whole second half of Tate vs. the Jazz backups.
Thad Young DK $5.7k | FD $6.6
vs. Miami
I will go back to the Thad Young well tonight as he still had 14/8/2 last night...in 17 minutes. The Bulls got a couple of guys back like Otto Porter, Jr. and Lauri Markkanen, but Young should clean up against a thin Miami front court.
Joe Ingles DK $5.4k | FD $4.7
vs. Houston
Are bench stacks vs. Houston going to start becoming a thing? There's no sense in a quality team like Utah exerting their starters 32+ minutes in a game that's supposed to be over by half. Joe Ingles has 17+ real points or more in the last three he's played 30+.
Tonight's Center Position Notables
Joel Embiid DK $10.7k | FD $9.9k
@ Wizards
Embiid is eligible to return tonight from COVID quarantine, and what great timing. He's rested while the rest of the 76ers are on a back to back, there's no Ben Simmons (+6.3%, +20.54 fp), and they play Washington, 29th in the league vs. the C.
Kelly Olynyk DK $5.7k | FD $4.5k
@Chicago
He's not used to big minute back to backs, but it's your moment Kelly Olynyk as Adebayo remains injured. Bigs want to be in the lineup against the Bulls, who like the Heat are also on a short turnaround. Chicago allowed 18 & 12 to Dwight Howard in 24 minutes last night, and Olynyk has averaged 42 fp the last two games.

🔥 SuperDraft Multiplier Must-Play
Today's SuperDraft multiplier must-play is Joel Embiid at 1.1X. Well rested in a return from quarantine. The rest of the Sixers played last night and they're up against Washington who has poor interior defense.
